  1. My dad had something similar to that that had a drum of grease inside and plugged into the air compressor for lubing zerk fittings. I think it was about a 15 gal drum and the round thing at the top had the regulator and the mechanism for pushing the grease through. If I remember right it worked like a plunger, the air forced the plunger down and the grease was forced through the hose. But I could be completely off base and it could be some sort of drain as Kerry says.
  2. I'll take one of those and a 71 if you don't mind!
  3. I have a Lindberg 64 Dodge 330 I want to do the same way, shackles L-60's, mismached paint, cherry bombs, and thrush stickers. I'm looking forward to seeing were you go with this. Do have a source for the tires yet?
  4. Harry, this model was on page 37 of the Feb/March 2015 contest issue, and congratulations Blair on some well deserved recognition, your models always inspire me.
  5. This sounds like it could be interesting, how long before somebody posts an island car like a 50 olds with modern toyota running gear in the WIP thread?
  6. Peter, that plymouth wagon is sweet! Tom, I would really like to see that airport limo finished. I've always wanted to build the old mans car from A Christmas Story, a 37 Olds Six, but I havent found anything close that I could convert. I would also like to do a copy of my Moms car when I was groing up, a 71 Country Squire wagon. I have fond memories of getting tossed around in the way-back on the back roads.
  7. Pretty cool build, I like the color. Its interesting you put Virginia plates on it as there are alot of military bases in Virginia. Every now and then you will see right hand drive cars or cars not available in the North American market, at least in the Norfolk area, from service members that bought them when they were overseas and shipped them back. I've seen Rovers, Fiats (pre Fiat-Chrysler) and Alfas running around Virginia beach and Chesapeake.

This is cool! What kit is this?
  9. Later this summer I am planning on building a copy of a van I had in highschool, a standard wheelbase Ford E 150, based on the AMT Phantom van. According to Wikipedia (the definitive source for accurate information), The wheelbase is 138" and the overall length is 206.8" vs 124" wb and 186.8" length for the short wheelbase. This suggests that I need to add .3 inch to the chassis and between the wheels on the body, leaving .5" to be added after the rear wheels (at the body seem from the rear end cap?) Should I just seperate the roof from the start and add the extra length at the center where its flat and work the body seperately? Have any of you done this conversion before? Any advice would be welcome as this will be my most ambious project to date.
  10. Nice looking car! That color is perfect for that car.
  11. I love these oddball builds, very creative and well executed.
  12. Looks good, I really like the paint.
  13. I like this more and more everytime I look at it.
  14. I think I saw that car down by Señor Frog's the last time I was in San Juan! I like it, nice work.
  15. Nice, I aspire to building models of this quality someday, you have set the bar high.
  16. I love it, good clean build. My Dad used to own what we believe was the last 63 t bird. It was a white convertable and the build sheet was still under the back seat. At the bottom of the build sheet, when they ripped it off the printer, the top of the next build sheet came with it and it was a 64.
  17. Well done!
  18. Alberto (AV405), Thanks for the tip, I just made arrangements for my wife to order the grills!
  19. Since I'm at sea I haven't actually recieved anything but I just put in an order from Model Roundup for a Monagram 40 Ford convertable (my Dads first car), a 41 Plymouth, a 54 Hudson, and 2 cans of testers rootbeer lacquer and 2 cans of fiery orange lacquer for a ford van project I plan to start when I get home. Last month I ordered 3 of the AMT Phantom vans to go with the one I already have. I am going to extend two of them to make 2 standard wheelbase vans like I had when I was younger. I also ordered flocking and some photo-etch detail parts. I'll make one more big order next month for all the new stuff moebius is coming out with and it will be like christmas when I get home. Of course I've never tried lacquer on a model before so I guess I should start researching what primers to use. and if anybody has a lead on an early 80's style ford van grill in resin it would be appreciated.
  20. Morgan Automotive Detail has a turbo 400, turbo 350, powerglide, and a 700r4. http://www.madmodeling.com/store/ccp0-catshow/transmissions.html
  21. I go through and label the parts on the kits my kids build. Now if only I can get one of them to finish a kit.
  22. After seeing this in the WIP thread I'm glad to see the finished product. Thanks for sharing.
  23. Well done, and nice display too.
  24. I remember around the time this movie came out I think Hot Rod magazine did a small article about the car but I just did a search on the internet and couldn't find it and my stack of old magazines is long gone. Nice start on a cool movie car, can't wait to see the rest.
