  1. I'm just finishing a Vanishing Point Challenger based off the Revell 2n1 kit. There are no screws in the Revell kit. The body is not quite right, in addition to the issues mentioned above the rear window shape as viewed from the side profile bulges outward instead of being flat. I sanded and filled as needed to bring it closer to correct but short on major reworking it will never be right. As Bill mentiones above, the chassis pan does not want to set under the body, the bottom of the interior pan is too thick and the rear sides of the chassis are too wide. I ground about 1/16 off the bottom of the interior and almost as much at points of contact with the chassis and got it right. The axle does run through the block but that could be fixed easily enoughby filling the hole and either cutting the axle and gluing it in the spindles or using sprue. The engine can be detailed to make a presentable big block but you would have to find a small block if you want to make the T/A version. The Revell kit can be made presentable if you are willing to do some fiddling but it will never be correct. If you are willing to overlook the problems with scale and the inaccuracies of the body and the axle running through the block, and if you have a 340 (if thats what you want) to put in it, you can make a reasonably nice model if not a perfect replica. It is better than the old Monagram 1/24 T/A that I built by the dozen back in the 80's.
  2. Very nice.
  3. Really cool and original, I like it.
  4. That paint is amazing!

I missed this when you posted, very nice.
  9. I like this, great job on the weathering and the stance is perfect.
  10. Nice, I don't build many GM products but I'm tempted to build this, glad to hear it went together with no problems.

    1941 Plymouth

This is not the new re-release but the Ertl-MPC release from a few years ago. I was thinking about putting left over Hemi from the Little Red Wagon kit in this but the six cylinder engine in the kit changed my mind and sent me in a different direction. Maybe I will get the new release an try again. This is a great looking car and if you want to do a pre-war Mopar its just about the only game in town. That being said, the kit is kind of tough. I had to straighten the chassis but the body was warped in the same way and being afraid of messing up the extensive body work done to hide the seem around the grill, I was unable to get it to come correct. I replaced all the fender welt with I believe .022 evergreen rod, on the next one I will figure out a way to do without the fender welt (maybe do it in primer only and scribe a gap) and all the side trim had to be redefined with a scribe. The dash had to be ground down to get the body to set all the way down on the chassis, and the hood required a lot of work to clean up the gap. The battery that comes with the kit is a 12 volt so I put a modern tag on it and took some liberties with the colors. I also replaced the chrome trim around the grill with evergreen stock. I should do some more details on this but I think I am going to call it done. The paint is Tamiya yellow over Duplicolor taffeta white, and the interior is Duplicolor fiery red with leather and black washes. Thanks for looking.
  12. Wow, that weathering on the carpet is slick!
  13. That is a cool model and I always enjoy the way you display your work in front of the garage diorama but as I was looking through, the first and third pictures have a girl leaning up against the wall next to the door and I could have sworn she was looking down at her smart phone and it just made the whole scene kind of surreal (I would put one of those little happy face things here but I don't know how, and I'm too stubborn to learn).
  14. How much trouble would it be to convert this to stock? I would imagine there's a fox mustang that could be used as a donor right?
  15. Went to my LHS to pick up some paint and see if they had the latest issue of MCM and talking to the owner I found out he stocks Parts by Parks products, picked up a distributor for the 41 Plymouth I'm working on. But the big score was the AMT 60 Ford Starliner marked at $19.95. I know its not a rare kit and I have no emotional attachment to the car other than it's neat but its normally priced close to 35 or above, in fact there's one on E-bay right now over 50. This kit may bump up to the next project for me.
  16. Thanks for the comments, I got the BMF on the drip rails and the R/T decals for the fender done but in looking at the kit box Scott posted above I realized I forgot the 440 magnum decals for the hood. All that's left is that, the distributor, and final assembly. My local hobby shop sells Parts by Parks distributors and wire, in fact I just used one on the 41 Plymouth I plan on finishing tomorrow, but with this one being right out front and not hidden under an air cleaner I want to wait on the MAD distributor. Sorry, no pictures today, not that there's much to see.
  17. This sounds like it could be a pretty cool community build, maybe add the Hot Rod Lincoln and see what happens.
  18. All the times I looked at this car I never noticed. I just looked at a couple of pictures and you can see the sun reflecting off the chrome. Thank you Ron, good catch!

  20. That Fiat looks really cool, I might give this on a try.
  21. Looks like a good start, I wish I had some of my old stuff around to restore.
  22. This is looking good, I might have to go get that kit and give it a try.
