My son gave me 3 gluebombs for Xmas that he got off of Ebay and challenged me to build a model out of all three. They were a 1929 Ford Woodys a 1960 Corvette and a 1975 Mustang. The Mustang was in the worst condition. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of when I got them. I didn’t have the heart to cut up the Woodys so I made it into the tow car with a surfing theme. The Corvette I am making into a speed boat and the Mustang I am making in to the trailer. So far this project is a 90 hour investment. Its not my best work but I’m still adjusting to my new location and I don’t have a spray booth as of yet. The Woodys didn’t come with doors so I left them out. I added wheels, tires and an engine from the parts box. I had some old mahogany veneer so I incorporated it into the side panels and grained the light wood frames. I hand made the anchor (which took two hours) and chromed it then placed it in the spare tire holder on the fender. The surf boards are both scratched built. I wanted a different look for the interior so I hand painted the seats in a Zebra pattern. The Vette will be the speed boat. I narrowed it about 1/4 “ and added the rear fin. I also scratch built the points on the front and the pontoons. Then I cut off the windshield and filled in the wheel wells. I reformed and added a hood from a 1967 Vette. For the interior I used parts of the seating from the Predicta, the dash from a ’55 Porsche and scratch built the rest. The seats will be in the zebra pattern to match the Woodys seats. The Stang has been a challenge. It was covered in heavy hand painted black on top of a couple other colors and also heavily glued. I cut off the roof and cut off the sides. I added an inner wall to the sides and used the bottom curved piece of rear chassis from the Garbage Truck for the front end. I had to widen the body in order to fit the Vetteboat in. I also hinged the rear for the tailgate. I needed to keep the indentation on the side panel to show it is from a Mustang, but also extended it to insert some of the mahogany wood veneer, I added old fenders and scratch built running boards to bring it together with the Woodys. I then built the frame and inside spot for the boat to sit. I am almost finished with this project. I will post completion pics in the Under Glass section soon. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave

Write a review of an album that changed your life.
Nosferatu replied to David G.'s topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
What a great thread! Well there are probably two releases that changed me. The first was Kenny Rogers "Just Dropped In". But the second really did it for me - Creedence Clearwater Revival - "Cosmos Factory". To this day it is still my favorite album. The other highly influential albums would be - Ten Years After "Rock and Roll Music To The World", "Johnny Winter And Live" and Pete Townshend "Who Came First". -

Great idea! I like the stance. You are inspiring me to pull out my '50 Chevy pickup! -
What did you see on the road today?

WOW! This is beautiful! Very nice work. I love that color. Why the New Jersey plate? I'm an ex-New Jersian.

Nice work! I love these MGs. I also forget how small they were. Beautiful cars.

Very nice work!! That color looks great! This brings back memories. I got my license on a '71 Pinto. How could anyone fail taking the test in that little car, it was a breeze!

Thanks guys for all your kind comments!

bisc63 - thank you for the really nice comment! The paint (after many other colors tested) ended up being Testors Extreme Lacquer rattle can Flaming Orange over a white base.

Nice work! I can't imagine how long this 1:1 car is!

I started with a ’48 Lincoln glue bomb. This must have been build (very poorly) about 50 years ago. I had to take apart every piece including all the body parts. I decided to remove the single headlights and put in double headlights and remove some of the front bumper to view the cool grill better. I added a ’36 Mercedes straight eight engine (from Rommels Rod), as it fit perfectly. I put some holes in the rear fenders for the exhaust tips, added spoke wheels into the lowered body. I also shortened the windshield and the ragtop roof. The interior is a mix match of seats and door panels from a ’61 Chevy. The console is from the Red Baron altered to fit between the Impala seats. The speakers and rear panel are scratch-built. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave

Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!

So many awesome mock-ups here! I did finish this one but here is the mock-up. I started with a Dish network remote. -

Nice thread! I started this one using an old garden cylinder sprinkler, the cab from the Garbage Truck, the front of a GTO and the rear from a '58 T-Bird. I have since done some more work but its not finished yet. It's sort of a cartoonish model. -
I am soooo looking forward to going to this!! I recently moved here from NJ and I really miss NNL East.

The Blue Crab
Nosferatu replied to Nosferatu's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks for all your nice comments. I know that this vehicle may not be able to be a real car as I had to alter some features to make it look good. The front tires are tight and if it were a real vehicle it wouldn't turn without hitting the body but I used my artistic license on it. I had fun building it. As far as the color goes it was a happy accident. I started with one color that looked blue in the container but it didn't come out the same blue so I went on to a couple other colors. Somehow it became color changing. I would have preferred a lighter blue but I do like the color change so I decided to keep it. -
This is my first complete build since moving to Arizona 4 months ago. I'm looking forward to more! A frankenstein build combining a Jeep and monster tires and wheels. I added the beach-surf scene and flowered the seats, cooler and surfboard. I had this in the WIP but finished it.
