  1. Thanks for your comments. It was a fun and challenging build even though I had a lot of issues with the paint as you can see. Dave
  2. I had two VW vans in a box for years and was saving them for a future project that I hoped I would think of building. A friend of mine had sent me a picture of a VW pulling a VW camper a few months ago and BAM! I found my “excuse” to build these VW vans. I had this in the WIP section and recently finished it. I cut the vans so they would fit in a towing position. For the VW tow vehicle I used Tom Daniels Baja Beast and the camper was a gluebomb I got one year at NNL East. For the tow VW I redesigned the interior. Seats from the parts box, dash (unfortunately cant be seen) was scratchbuilt from parts. I used oak veneer for the floor, made the VW picture and scratch built the fold down TV. The TV is hard to photograph as it is in a difficult angle. Being that the rear was altered I couldn’t fit in the VW engine so I used a Corvair engine. On that engine I made the dual carb setup. I used the same surfboard that came with the kit but altered it to reflect a more design – split tail and triple fins. For the camper I used the front part for the bed. All the seat and bed “fabric” was taken from pics on the internet and shrunk then printed on decal paper then applied with a matte coat over them. The interior was completely scratchbuilt with cabinets, handles, knobs, microwave, stovetop and the table. The biggest issue besides fitment was the color. I’m not happy with the color buy I had tried several turquoises and couldn’t get the color I had in mind. This paint didn’t go on well. It crinkled in some spots but I didn’t have the patience to mess with it any more. I recently started logging in my time spent on my builds. This one came out to 60 hours. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave Here is the pic my friend sent me.

  6. Thanks guys! Its still all in the making. Dave
  7. I saw this video on YouTube and decided to give it a shot. I thought this Tankenstein was very unique and cool looking. It will also get you thru any traffic jam! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NKrF6uxuFU I sat for about an hour and took a 1953 Ford pickup and cut off the bottom. I used an old tank chassis and altered it. I still need to do some more altering. I want to lower the height of the treads and cut the front of the rear fender so it wraps around the tread wheel like the front. I may shorten the bed. Everything needs to be tightened up. This is just a very loose mockup I also am trying to come up with a name for this. Thanks for looking Dave
  8. I spend between a half hour (gluing a few pieces that need time to dry) to 2 hours. depending on what I have to do. For the past 5-6 models I have been logging my time for each build. I build custom models so they usually take lots of hours to complete. This way I know how long each project takes.
  9. Great post! My favorites are Obscured By Clouds and Animals. They did a sound track for the movie MORE, on it is a decent song called Ibiza Bar. I think this came out before Dark Side of The Moon.

  16. I had this in the WIP section under 1939 Ford Tow Truck. I found the box from the model and noticed it is a 1937 Ford pickup not a 1939 as I thought, so sorry about the misinformation. Well, I had finished it a few weeks ago but just took some pics. I had explained all the scratch building and modifications in the WIP. I made the boom from 40 pieces of flat styrene and a few other parts. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave
