For those of you with a MIG welder, or know somebody who has one, the wire from the welder works pretty well

Ive had one of these for more than a year. I dont move it around, so I duct taped all the corners and hard lined the exhaust. I spray enamal and lacquer all the time. Like GeeBee, I clean the filters and motors fan, especially before painting bodies. I think its a great paint booth and well worth the money

Eloveless, Hang in there. We have all been through what your feeling. And we are our own worst critics. Believe me, your first build is WAY better than my first build. Dont compare your first build to somebody elses 20 or 30th build. Use this as a learning experience. Your off to a good start The next build will be better, and the next one better yet

I have one of the these. Bought it on ebay for the same price. Ive had it for almost a year. I really like it. Since I dont move mine, I duct taped all the edges and corners. That helped, giving it some more rigidity. I blow out the filters every couple of weeks and its good to go Highly recommended

You could try doing a polish, just like on a paint job. I've had good luck doing it this way

A big thank you for all the efforts to answer my question. I really appreciate it. Steven- I thought about doing another light over all coat of paint. Ive got 2 concerns with this though. My thought that another coat will just darken all the paint and leave the variations. And the doors already fir tight, with the amount of paint on the car. More paint will make body parts fit tighter. So, I guess my choices are strip it or live with it But I learned from this, and thanks to all of you, Ill do better next time Thanks again

Thanks for the replies, guys. MrBuick- your thinking the color will even out after clear coating and polishing? It has been my understanding that you can't polish metallic paints, as it will "flatten" out the metal chips in the paint. Ace-Garageguy- you make a great point about painting everything all together. This is a lesson learned and will follow it next time I spray metallic. 1 question though. When do you paint the hood edges, door jams, etc?

I am building a Aoshima 1998 McLaren F1 GTR. Yesterday I painted the body, with Testors One coat lacquer (Fiery Orange). The models comes molded in black. I primed all body parts with Tamiya white primer. The Testors paint was decanted and allowed to gas out for a couple of hours. All parts were painted at the same time and the paint all came from the same rattle can After about an hours drying time, I noticed that some of the body panels were a different shade from each other. It looks almost like there were different base coats. I can't get my camera to pick up the difference but in the daylight, its obvious. So, short of stripping the body, anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks

Very cool build. The cycle fenders is something you don't see a lot, especially on the rear, but I really like it

If your looking just for NY plates, you should take a look at Best Model Car Parts. I've ordered from them a couple of times and I'm very happy with the quality of their work.

I have done my best to not speak badly of after market companies on the forum. But in this case, I will make an exception. I ordered from them several months ago. I waited far longer than any other order, from anyone. I e mailed them several times and never got a reply. I also got e bay involved and boy, did I get a letter from them, then. After a couple more weeks of waiting, I got my order. I ordered 3 different sized off road tires. Not one of the sets are usable. Blems all over the place, sidewalls distorted. Useless There web site shows great stuff but they dont seem to want to work or reply to customers. If Im not mistaken, there is a thread about this company already and not much of it is good

Bill- As I stated earlier, its not so much the money, but more, I want the seller (and all sellers) to a workable part. I really dont want to get E Bay and Pay Pal involved. I'd like the seller to step up and do whats right. So, to that end, I will contact the seller and see what happens. If he chooses to do nothing, then you may see a post from me, warning other buyers. Toner- Like you, buying from reputable sellers has kept me spending my money on resin. And I've had several good transactions. I'm just going to be more cautious, buying on E Bay And ironically enough, just a couple of days ago, I received my chopped 32 Ford from Flintstone. Ive seen his stuff at shows, so I knew what I was getting. Maybe I was lucky, but the one I got is pretty nice. Mike- I agree , some of the Flintstone stuff is unique. Some great starting points. Ive got my eye on his Black Force custom dart. Unfortunately, it would be project # 5,327 . So many models, so little time

Your right, Erik, about each of us having that "acceptable" standard. I understand and expect, that most resin parts will some adjusting. And I'm ok with that. But when sides that are suppose to be parallel are not, or details are skewed off center, and can't be fixed, thats my acceptable/not acceptable point. Its unfortunate that, it seems there will always be those that give a hobby or business a bad name

Thanks to all who took the time to write. I do appreciate it. For me, it's not really the money that matters. Its the fact that someone sold something that clearly wasnt usable. Its more of "does any body care about the quality of your products"? So, I will write to the seller after Christmas, if nothing else, to let him know that what he is selling is sub standard. I have recently returned to the hobby after 20+ years away. When I was building, before, there were no resin casters. Now there seem to be a lot. My first purchases from a resin caster were terrible. LONG waits, no communication and when the parts arrived...well, lets just say that they left a lot to be desired. I have learned from this, and have ordered from people that are highly rated, and my faith has been restored. But recently, I ordered some resin from an E Bay seller. Lots of good reviews, lots of products on his page, good prices and great communication. And when the part showed up, it is so warped and twisted, its useless. I real;ise that some parts need clean up and some adjustment, but there is no saving this Im not looking to bash this seller. What I want to know, is how do all of you deal with those parts that arrive and you realise, the moment you open the box, you wasted your money. Thanks
