  1. Ive used the Scalecoat with great success. I usually let it sit overnight but Ive seen results in a couple of hours. But it does have a harder time with Tamiya primer. If it is fresh (couple of days) it does better. But if its been on for much longer, it struggles
  2. I have been building models, on and off for more than 50 years. Work, wife, life all kept me from building more than a few hours a week. Especially, in the last few years Id keep telling myself "when I retire, Ill build all I want" Well, the wife has gone by by and I retired in May. One day, after I retired, it finally sunk in that I could build what ever, when ever I wanted. So now I tend to get up early and at the bench by 6:30-7 am and Ill build for 2-3 hours. Then I go run errands, do life stuff and return to the bench mid afternoon to build for a couple more hours. And most days, around 8 or so, Ill put in another hour or so. I have always loved building. But now, I have really fallen in love with building all over again. I so enjoy every minute Im there.
  3. Thanks Mike. I thought that might be the case, but I didnt know where in Fla he was located
  4. Has anyone dealt with Model car Garage lately? I ordered a PH set, paid with PayPal and when it returned me to Model Car Garage site, it said I needed to pay. Tried a few different things, but to no avail. I wrote to them but have not gotten a reply, in almost 2 weeks. This is unusual for them, as in the past they have been great to deal with. Ant insight would be appreciated Thanks Jeff
  5. Thanks Bill. I think, regardless of the type of fenders I end up with, putty will be involved. Ill go looking for the Bondo 801. Thanks again Jeff
  6. Done At some point will we be able to see the results?
  7. @ Ace Garageguy - have a favorite brand that works well for you? @Randy D - Nice choice! I like these. I did find some and am amazed at the difference in price, from 1 site to the next Thanks guys!
  8. Thanks Brian. If I cant find something that I can adapt, I may go this route. I was kinda hoping to not go this way, because the amount of putty that goes into it. Just because of the risk of the putty shrinking. Cool Mustang, by the way!
  9. Thanks Les, I will check them out
  10. @Sandboarder - I have actually test fitted the flairs out of the Aoshima kit that I have. That was another step in trying to do this build. And by the looks of your work, it does make a nice build up without the flares. Taking the flares out of $50.00 kit, especially when that is the look I like, makes it tuff. @Leo64 - I did run across the Cults3D site in my search. Yea, they are expensive and I dont know any people with a 3D printer. Except maybe Shapeways.
  11. @ Sandboarder - I have a Aoshima Liberty Walk kit and that is what started this idea. But Id rather not take the flairs out of it, so , at some point, build it as a Liberty Walk car. @Stitchup - I tried to find Aoshima flairs but was unable to come up with anything? Do you have a link to these flairs? @ Fat Brian - I was looking for more of the "over fender" look like the Liberty Walk cars. @ Ace-garageguy - Thanks for the link. This is the direction I wnated to go. But your link sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole and found other flairs that I like. Thank you all for your input. I do appreciate it Jeff
  12. Thanks Bill. I was just looking to "lighten" the amount of work that this will take.
  13. @Brian - I want to put the fenders on a Studabaker. @Bill - Yes, I could make my own but this project has so much work already, Id like to get a set and move on to the other parts of the build Thank you for your replies
  14. Hi all; I have a project in mind where I want to use Liberty Walk or Rocket Bunny type over fenders. But Id rather not pull apart a $50.00 Aoshima kit for them. Does anybody know of sommeone, either casting/3D printing just the fenders? Thank you Jeff
  15. I turn 64 in another week. I did a 71 mile bike ride today (thats a pedal bike, no motor), with 3700 ft of climbing. And I didnt come home and flop on the couch. Its all good!

  19. That is a stunning build. Great job!
  20. TaxDude; A Colnago! Very nice! Ive never ridden one, but I know people who own them and they swear by them. That is a brand with some serious history
  21. TaxDude, if we were closer, Id be out riding with you. Cycling is my #1 passion. I do 100-120 miles a week. 6 weeks ago, I just got a new Cannondale Synapse, so I can do some gravel riding. Cause there is a ton of state land near me. Jeff
  22. See you Sat morning, Ted
  23. I have that exact spray booth. I have a (semi) permanent spot for ot, so I hard lined the exhaust to the window. I also duct taped all the corners. It makes it a little stable. I cover the inside with paper and change it before spaying any bodies Ive been using it for about 2 years now, spraying lacquer, enamel and acrylic. I am completely satisfied with it
  24. This is a great looking truck, very realistic. I also enjoy the longer descriptions of the build. I learn a lot from them. Thanks for sharing
  25. Nice job!. I really like the side trim you did.
