  1. Has anybody compared the HRM, SM, and the other kits of the Daytona Coupe? I have the Gunze kit and know there are some flaws, but am curious if they all are supposed to represent the same car. Everything I have read says the first car built by Shelby was very different than the others that followed. BRE went so far as to create a series of die casts that are supposed to be correct for each car. It would be interesting if that could be done with the larger kits
  2. I cannot agree with you more. I am getting back into the hobby after many years away so its great to see someone like yourself who thinks lets see what i can create rather than buy it all. Not that there's anything wrong with buying all the detail pieces - I have acquired a decent quantity of it - it still helps to see how it can all be put together and turn out quite well.
  3. If anyone is still looking for these, I found them on Amazon as "Trim Natural Buffing System" for $7.15 plus shipping
  4. I have been following this thread with great interest. The detail work is fantastic and its great you are not using some of the ultra expensive detailing products. Definitely would love to see the distributor work.
  5. Thank you both. Great to know the history and details of the colors, and have a source for them
  6. I am collecting resources to build some of the BMW racing cars. The decals in some of the kits are not in good shape so am wondering if anyone knows the correct colors for the three-color stripes they used on white cars - 320i, 3.5CSL, etc. For lack of more correct terms they the red, purple and blue colors. Thanks to all
  7. Ok - i have searched and not found the answer. Does anyone know if there is any kit of the Porsche 962C that has the driveline, or is there a resin kit of it? I have the Tamiya 956 but its not exactly the same. Thanks for any help. David
  8. I think I put this on another thread but check out Lex's Scale Modeling. They have a real nice Kenne Bell supercharger set up. http://lexsscalemodeling1.bravehost.com/LSMproducts.html
  9. Both designs are great stuff - definitely in for a few sets of each, both same size and big n littles. There are several projects that these are just the ticket. Please keep us posted as to when you start taking orders.
  10. The KenneBell supercharger arrived last week Friday - I think they look really good. The resin is smooth and well detailed Showed them to a couple of fellow AMG members (including Kennyboy from this forum) who all seemed to agree. I attached a lousy phone cam picture but you should check out Lex's Scale Modeling for better images.
  11. I'm kinda thinking the backs are a bit tall. If you go back to the photo (and what seems to be the pro-tour layout) the wheels are almost always same height but really WIDE in the back. BTW - dont know if you've given up on the decals but some printers have ink specified for photo-quality printing. That may be what you need for the decals.
  12. There's a guy on the 'Bay selling Kenne Bell superchargers in cast resin under the name Lex's Scale Modeling. Pictures look pretty good, but will know for sure when mine shows up.
  13. Gotta go with the pro-tour. I have a scrap box Firebird project I was thinking about, so this build should be interesting.
  14. Good to hear the Fujimi is all new, not that the Nichimo was bad. Would love to have a complete driveline though.
  15. Love the sub and great job on the base too! Kinda guessing the Fujimi is a re-pop of the Nichimo kit given its molded in white and a curbside. Hopefully Fujimi put in some better tires.
  16. Great looking engine JC. What scale is the HRM kit and how does it look in the chassis (large/small/ pretty close)
  17. If the lens has some volume to it, I have used plexi or acrylic rod (or square stock) cut to rough shape to fit the lens area, then dremel/ file/ sand to correct shape. Once shaped I then backed with foil or other reflector material. That seemed to work best on cars that have a lens that follows the contours of the body.
  18. Steve, for the amber bulbs I have used the stretched sprue method, kinda like your last post seems to indicate. Find some clear yellow/amber sprue (the hardest part now), heat gently until it will stretch to the diameter of the bulb. Cut off enough pieces for the number of bulbs you need. Drill through the back of the reflector part, then insert the "bulb" and attach with a dot of white glue or epoxy. Works great with red bulb installs too.
  19. As some one returning from extended time away from the hobby this is the kinda question I like. If I understand the OP, the question is where can you find the best rendition of motor 'X' and maybe the trans that goes with it. Very much what I would want to know for my next street rod/ restomod/ pro-touring/ etc. It would also help to know what scale it is and is it over- or under-scale. So, where can I find that great LS7 or supercharged Ecotec?
  20. Excellent work!! Not sure I was ever a fan of first year Vettes, but this one sure turned my opinion. Sleek. smooth and just the right balance of color. Was thinking maybe a chrome trim around the grille but not sure it would be an improvement. The only other idea toward modern building style would be a wing between the tail light pods, but again not sure its an improvement. Can't wait to see your next project.
  21. All my favorites are from Roger Warrick, a top motorsports artist who also does cards for Oxman Publishing. Some of my favorites (check out the "tree" in the third one":
  22. Definitely a crazy build - I mean where do you get the idea for a 9 Liter/ 1800hp marine engine?? And the outside and inside are totally sleek. That is one thing I like about the pro-tour philosophy. Take some of the great designs and insert some of today's best technology and Detroit gave us some great designs to work with in the late 60's/early 70's.
  23. Fantastic build! The workbench steps should be pinned for the innovative method used to make the frame and dash alone, not to mention all the other steps it took to create this masterpiece.
  24. If the body was changed to represent a 427, did the chassis remain unchanged as a 289-spec with leaf spring suspension?
