This one is out there. Not sure if anyone has heard of them:

OK, that's it. I'm going to have to spring for this. The Mustang II Coupe was not my first car, but it was the first one I loved, and I drove it all over the eastern and Southern US. After putting two new engines in it, I finally had to get rid of of it. Not long after I joined this forum, folks told me about this: http://www.madmodeling.com/store/ccp0-prodshow/77muscoupe.html Is that the one you used?

Clear lacquer over decals
Harry Joy replied to unclescott58's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I apply clear lacquer over decals all the time. Give the decals time to completely dry and set, and go light on your mist coats. The lacquer can melt decals if applied too thick all at one time. If the decals are old, you may want to test something from the sheet you don't plan to use. Alternately, you can clear coat decals before you apply them to the model, if you don't mind the hassle of trimming them close. -
My 80 year old dad has a serious peeve that he shares with me frequently - about how the news always plays out a train/car collision as "Sadly today, someone was killed when a train hit their car at Poplar and Southern" or something similar. He'll roll his eyes and say "Technically speaking, the train was where it was supposed to be", implying that the car, in point of fact, hit the train. He will switch it out with pedestrians when necessary, as when some well known Memphis blogger was jogging on a train track with his earphones on a couple of years ago. A close friend of my dad in the 80s was an engineer. He finally quit the business after one too many collisions. It really messed up his head, since he could see the collisions coming and not be able to do anything but watch.

Ever since my local shop moved across the plaza to a different, bigger space, they have become a target. This never used to happen, but in the last three years they have been broken into several times. Every staff member works a late to guard the shop, but the burglaries usually happen around midnight. No one was at the store when this happened around 4am. They've lost far more this time than ever before, and it makes me want to cry and kill someone at the same time. Full video of the event is only on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MidSouthHobbies/?pnref=story Local news story here, with interviews and traffic camera footage: http://wreg.com/2016/05/03/smash-grab-at-mid-south-hobby-shop-leads-to-chase/

But in another thread, this company is mentioned and they have Harvest Gold: http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/paint/gm.html

I looked for a LONG time, literally years, for the right shade for my 53 Belair. Finally this year, I made a mix with Tamiya paints - XF-04 Yellow-Green, X-06 Yellow, and Flat White. Easier than I expected:
-
Thanks! I'm going to have to try these. So many nice models here seem to have been painted in them, and the palette I get with Tamiya and Model Master cannot replicate some of the classic finishes.

The pics look fine to me. The model is incredible! What is the brand of paint?
-
I agree that if it is indeed the plastic itself that has yellowed, nothing will remove it. Like Snake though, that is really unusual. Is it possible that it is something like cigarette smoke staining? At any rate, if you cannot fix the original clear parts, why not spring for the yellowed one - and tint it darker so it looks like it was done on purpose?

Next model choices

This list is broken. Only one Chevy. -
What did you see on the road today?
Harry Joy replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another one on the road to Tupelo, although this time I was heading to Oxford. 1963 Galaxy. -
To all the folks successfully sharing pics the last few weeks - what is a good alternative to P-Bucket? Welp, looks like my test pics above actually posted.
-
Test: Just tried the "direct" link and the classic "IMG" code, and both are returning "Your image was linked incorrectly" to me in my post.
-
The website itself will load now, which it wasn't doing two hours ago. But all the links are still broken.
-
I'm getting what you see below, or something odd where the pic just shows as a link with a line through it.
-
Anyone else having issues with P-Bucket tonight? All my links are broken again, as are those belonging to others, and the website won't load.

soaking resin and styrene parts to clean
Harry Joy replied to fiatboy's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That kit..... I love the kit itself. It builds into a beautiful model of a beautiful and important airplane. I but I don't know WHAT ICM bathed it in. I have built three or four, and the newer boxings didn't have an issue, but all my old ones did. Not only did they positively ooze oil, they stank something fierce. And it wasn't easy to wash that grease off. The first one I built, I washed it then set it out to dry. When I came back a day later, it was greasy again. I ended up soaking it for several days in Windex. I have seen this in other ICM kits of similar vintage, by the way. -
Here's one a little harder:

soaking resin and styrene parts to clean

Dish soap. -
I built that kit just a few months ago, and loved it. It was fun to build, and came out great.

Mid 70s land yachts. All makes, models, any of them. It kills me that there are kits of many of them out there, but only at collector prices. But I know Revell will not be the company to kit them.

Nice. I tried out Tamiya's Racing White rattle can on my last build. My last build was one that I ended up binning, and paint was one of the reasons. My wife wanted it in pink and cream, so I painted it in Racing White and Pink spray cans. Worst finish on any car kit I've build yet, and what's worse, these resisted strippers. I ended up tossing it.

With airplanes, which is most of my experience, the standard order is inside-out. And that's the way I starting building cars last year. After a few builds, I started to see the wisdom of car-style, which is outside-in, and that's the way I'm doing them now. Same reasons as the others above.

When I lose interest in a build, sometimes it can take a little bit before I realize that the thrill is gone. I'll continue to putter on it now and then, and all of the sudden I realize I haven't finished it in a while. There was always a more interesting TV show, or book, or whatever. Once upon a time, I would put them back in the box and try to return to them later one. But that later on never comes. When I hit that point on a kit now, I salvage interesting bits and decals and throw that Murph in the trash. Life's too short to build kits I don't enjoy. And when I do that, I'll usually whip out my next build in record time, and usually to a higher standard than the unloved kit was getting. It's just a hobby. I'm in it for fun.
