Sorry for the vagueness of that statement. It's a running joke that the aforementioned members of the Model Cars Magazine Forum Brotherhood have had their work areas invaded and taken over by Minions who cause havoc and chaos, but also, like Elves in a Cobblers shop, secretly work on their master's models while they sleep. This creates the illusion that much more progress is being made in too short a time. I became aware of their existence when I got up early one morning. When I turned on the light, they froze like cockroaches. Welcome to the Brotherhood.

I like your train of thought Bob. If you don't have a Piranha in your stash, perhaps the recent AMT Chezooom might work. Not only is it rear engine, it's a Corvair too. Pretty much assures a wheelbase fit. Happy to see it as a topless car. I've got a soft spot for them.

Too easy, IMHO, to scratch one out with plastic rods, a handle, some wiring and hex head bolt detail. That would be better than a standard basic, not to mention rare, kit piece. I'm going to guess that it doesn't have the end detail where the starter mates up to the pulley. In the pic, it just looks like a pin? Let me know if I'm wrong Vince. I found a pic for you of the instruction sheet. It's at the top left. This is just the first pic I found of one. As you can see, the "Business End" would need some work. Not sure how much detail you might want to put in it.

If I'm gauging the gap right between the dash and the doors, I'll betcha a pair of small vents or speaker lookin' thingies would squeeze in there nicely Dave. You might even mount them on the door panels........ If you got REAL ambitious, there might also be a way to "wrap" those hinges to cover them too. Happy days on the seat fitment too.

I have a file that has nothing but pictures of blowers / fuel lines / linkage, etc. Today it has 4 more. The K valve is a thing of beauty.

Through a friend, I got to visit the home garage of Gary Hazen when he had the Panic Altered. It was, obviously, a memorable experience. I was secretly hoping for something "off the wall", and you have provided. Do we get one wing or two? The wildest thing you could do would be, one on the roll cage, one on the front, and a pair of canards in front of the slicks. Finally, I'm certain SOMEBODY could figure out how to make a pair of front wheel fairings, a' la Carl Casper's Cosmic Charger, wide enough to handle 12 spoke wheels with an appropriate width tire. But, as usual, that's just me basing my opinion on Experience and Observations. Don't you hate when I do that?

I ask one simple thing. Diorama. See? Simple. What do you do? Build an entire track, fill the pits, fill the stands and announce it to boot. Over the top, set a new level, then top it again.

Marlowe, you're building in a world that most of us never thought to explore. I have a hard enough time justifying building in 1/16 due to the mediocre availability of aftermarket detailing goodies. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with scratching or modifying and improvising. But you, sir, go where most fear to tread. Bravo. ROFL, Don holding up the body. Also, nice choice of an old wood frame to display an old car.

Nice topic idea Joe. I should be working on my Soapy Sales F/C, but THIS got in the way. You're going to have to use your imaginations as we jump into "The Wayback Machine" to the year 1981. I was a Service Writer at a Goodyear store on E Street in San Bernardino, CA. When I told my Boss that my Klingon Cruiser got first place at an IPMS contest in Pasadena, he asked me if I wanted to hang it over the Service Counter. You betcha!!!!!!! Coincidentally, it's currently in space dock for minor renovations. Since green tones were not my favorite, I went with blue for grins and giggles. As you can see, it's basically a collision of two kits to make it more of a Dreadnought class. Problem is, the last 2 (and final) times I've moved, the bridge snapped off the twin pylons. So, I'm shortening it up and adding weapons to the tips of the pylons. I'm also adding lead weight under the hanger bay / engineering sections, so it will stand on the warp engines without nose support. Here's a pic of the old trophy and the deconstruction. Again, you'll have to use your imagination.
