Welcome to the forum Eddie. Look in the tips and tricks part of the forum and you'll find lots of info on the basics required for building great models. I would recommend that you get a decent hobby knife, a good sprue cutter (diagonal cutter ),a selection of quality paint brushes and a set of jewellers files and fine grit sandpaper as a bare minimum.

Very drool worthy packaging. This kit was priced at R 14 000 in my local hobby store. That's about $800 US at our current exchange rate. Way too pricey for my meagre budgetary constraints. I have to save just to get a basic 1:25 kit. I will follow this build and imagine that I am building it alongside yours.

I use an antiseptic liquid that we get here in South Africa called Dettol. The active ingredient is Chloroxylenol. http://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/dettol-antiseptic-500ml-126774 It took about 3 days of soaking to remove all the paint and primer with a little bit of scrubbing with an old toothbrush and it's also reusable if stored in an airtight container. Protective gear should be used as this stuff is quite strong.
