Thanks Clay, Not much detail. I pretty much just use what comes in the box. Not show stuff, but fun to build.
-
Figured I would post them. About to be replaced with newer builds.
-
Not sure Lyle. Might be the voltage regulator? Anyhow it was there so I painted it red. The round one is the coil, as an after thought. I found it, painted, in the bottom of the box after I was done, so figured I would just glue it somewhere. Hey, I told you that I wasn't very talented.

Paint Strippers - What to Use?
m408 replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
First couple of bodies were painted with model paints, Testers, Tamiya, etc... Strained after each use. Worked very well for the first few bodies. The paint that I'm having the problem with is Dupli-Color. primer, paint, and clear. I have just been soaking the bodies in a tuperware container for about 15 minutes. -
Great job Raul, but..... How about a vision of Jerry's 1:1? I'm thinking a slight chop, small block chevy, drop the front end about 4", and Ferrari red paint? Of course keep the pliers handy just in case.

Don't think that it is a skull. Kind of a holloween pumpkin thing. Decal came with the kit, so I just put it on.
-
Thanks Art. Figured out the WB settings, changed over to just plain lamp bulbs, and the pics are comming out O.K. Not mag quality, but O.K. for posting. Heck, if I could produce good quality photos my builds wouldn't look as good. (I try to make everything blurry)
-
Not a chance Raul. You guys keep your helmets on. I'm going to be brain picking.

To me, building model cars is a hobby, something that I can do in my spare time to relax. As a bonus, when I'm done, I have physical evidence of my efforts. Show quality? Nope. Do I care? Nope. Just a great way to spend some idle time.;
-
Nope. Just rattle can Testors green over Tamiya white primer. The green highlites on the engine and some running gear are from dollar store marker pens.
-
Boyd fan or not, you might like this kit from AMT, Clay. Three or four induction system options and several running gear/trim options. Heck, it went together easy for me. Even a cave man could build it.

Yep Cal. Followed your advice. Kind of figured out the WB, and replaced the hallogen bulbs with just the same ones that I use in my house lamps. May not be "magazine quality", but sure a lot better than before. Thanks again.

Is There An Easy Remedy For Bent A Pillars?
m408 replied to Junkman's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Plastic has a "memory". When it is disfigured, it wants to go back to its origanel shape, if it can. George has the right idea. Heat it up in some hot water, move the parts that are bent, let it cool, or rinse in cold water. Repeat as many times as required. Might take a while and several cycles, but it will work. Same thing works for warped bodies etc... -
Paint Strippers - What to Use?
m408 replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've got a couple of bodies that I want to re-paint. I have been using "Scalecoat II wash away" as a paint remover. Not very effective and pretty pricey, $9.95 for one pint, which hardly covers a body. Any recommendations for something that will zap the paint without zapping the plastic? -
Thanks all for the help. I read the manual and figured out, I think, the white balance. Changed out the holagen bulbs with the same ones that I use in my house lamps. Just posted some pics on "under glass" of my latest build taken with the new set up. I think that they came out O.K. (if you ignore my building skills). Thanks again all for your help.

Started this way before Boyd's demise. I'm not very talented, but would have liked to have had it done for NNL west, to contribute to his memory. Anyhow, here it is, as best I could do.
-
Very nice Jeff. I got a lot of my "used car lot" diorama stuff from SMBC. Good prices and good service.
-
Thanks Tony. No wife. I am king of my castle.
-
Thanks a bunch Cal. This will sound dumb but, what are the bulbs normally used around the house like "soft white"? What would you recommend that I could find at my local hardware store?
-
Nothing special. Just a new start. It'll get better, but you have to start somewhere.
-
O.K. Cal, Here are some shots using the same settings for each. How come it goes from gray background to white to pink? I have been told that it has something to do with "white balance" but I can't figure it out.
-
I like #2. Seems to blend in very well with the overall smooth lines of the body.
-
Nope. This is the Boyd Coddington AMT 32 Ford Coupe kit. One of the best kits that I have ever bought. Many, many, options. From several induction systems to a bunch of drive train and trim selections. After it is done, I'll even have a bunch of stuff left over. And it is going together really easy. When we have the get together, I'm going to bring one of the grand daughters kits that got me started again. You guys will get a lot of laughs over it. A real "glue bomb". Testers tube glue and all brush painted. It's really bad, but I keep it. Whenever I get stuck and think that my skills are going nowhere, I look at it and grin.

Thanks Aaron. Great ideas. Bought the camera on line. But, gonna take my camera, manual, and what I want to do, to a local camera shop Monday.

I'm going nutz! Got a Canon PowerShot A460 to post pics and just can't get it right. Made a light box, using halogen bulbs for side lighting, can't understand the darn users manual, and have been asking all over the place for help. Anyone here using the same camera? If so, please give me, in as much detail as you can, your camera settings, set up, etc...
