I am looking for reference material for a White 3000 with the Cummins diesel engine with the rear mounted radiator and rear drive fans. I am wanting to build one of these, but need references of the radiator, and the shaft driven fans. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have a resin cab by Flintstone, a resin one by Rick Manz, a few of the Danbury ones, and one resin one by Ron Cash. The resin ones are all a bit different in one way or another. The Danbury ones does look similar to Flinstones, but is, at least to my opinion, not exactly the same. The one in my avatar is by Manz..............a VERY hard piece to work as it was of a grainy resin, and was brittle. But, that was built 30 years ago and still survives.

Yeah, got some fine tuning to do for sure..............but it's one step at a time.................SLOWLY!

Just got back to the build this week, as the guys in the shop had to get the DM600 ready for the upcoming construction season, and the old timer got shoved to the back burner, yet again. I will have some more photos soon. Got the winch built up, decided to use a hydraulic drive as I can't find something satisfactory to use for the chain drive to look right. So, a hydraulic pump, and a Tulsa hydraulic winch from Moluminum will do the job. Got the piping and wiring done from the cab back, a firewall fitted, the steering fitted up, a tapered tail and roller for the trailer, the interior built up, window channels done as suggested previously by 41chevy, and a bunch more little things done. Pretty much decided on a red cab with black fenders and chassis, but I DID just see a beautiful photo of a bright chrome yellow B81 with red chassis.......................hhmmmmmmm!

This is a Mack DM600 that I started WAY back in 1987 or so. It met a severe case of builder's block, and a move to another state, and FINALLY just got done. It is finally leaving the shop to join the company fleet, as soon as the company gofer gets to the registry to get plates for her! (But of course, the guys had to put her to work around the yard waiting for the plates, so she already needs a bath!!) It is an original MPC DM600 kit, with an AMT Montone body. The engine is a Tip Turbine from a Cruiseliner kit, with appropriate mods to fit the DM cab and intake system. The chassis has had a pusher axle added, from Mo'Luminum. There are tons of little details added from the parts box, as well as piping and wiring. The dump body has had rear exhaust vents added for the exhaust heater. The chassis color is Rustoleum Red, and the green is PPG Mack 804 green. It is labeled with custom decals from Modeltruckin.com. This has been a long time coming out of the shops, but the crew is happy to have another truck added to the fleet!

That can be a stressful situation on both sides. I had to let one of my help go about 3 years ago, and it was VERY hard. THAT was also the totally right decision and the bottom line reflected it very quickly as soon as the register receipts started matching the amount of money actually in the till at the end of the day, if you know what I mean!

WAY back in the 70's when I was an engineer for a textile machinery company, I used to travel a lot. I spent a bunch of time working on some machines we built in Aliceville, AL. We could not find a decent place close to there to stay so we stayed in Columbus, MS. No problem, only about 40 miles to the mill. One morning we got up to leave for work and found about 1 1/2 to 2" of snow on the ground. That is nothing to a New Englander. So we left for work, big deal. We probably saw 150 cars off the road on our way. We also got behind an Alabama "sand truck". It was a single axle dump truck with three laborers in the back, shoveling GRAVEL out of the bed onto the road. Not sand, gravel, probably about 1 1/2" minus stuff with stones the size of golf balls. Amazing! We got to the mill about ten minutes late due to the incredible number of accidents on the road, and the totally inept drivers, only to find they had shut down for the day due to the weather. We took our time going back to the motel, and spent the day drinking beer. Never saw anything like it.....................it was incredibly entertaining!
