  1. .................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Speachless!!!!!)
  2. Don't sweat it......................family and job first, then the fun stuff. And when you DO get to working on it again, it will be all the sweeter!
  3. Here it is just mocked up on the incomplete chassis. Also did the correct panel lines as can be seen on the drivers side in front of the door and on the rocker panel, done on both sides of the cab. This is the original issue DM600 as the follow on issues SOMEWHERE along the line they modified the hood so they could use the same cab as the DM800, as can be seen in the photo of the Rubber Duck issue, also shown without the panel lines.
  4. Hey Tom, there's an idea for your next NNL.........a Barn Find class. Just for survivors! By the way, this past NNL East was the first show I'd been to since the '80's in Toledo. You and your people did a SUPERB job. Can't wait until next year!
  5. AL of the builds in this forum bring back great memories. Keep 'em coming!!!!!
  6. Thanks, had to so it would be big enough for a 1/25th scale operator!
  7. Thanks to all for the great words....................my work isn't the greatest to be seen by FAR, but like most, as long as it pleases us, it's good to go!
  8. Nice builds too...........LOVE the Verdoro Green Firebird! Used to have a soft spot for Pontiacs.............but THAT is another story for another day!
  9. Yup, spot on.....................a '72 clip on a '69 body. And absolutely NO idea what color that was! My brother and I built his '71 GTO. It had the 455 HO in it and the M22 trans. It was a fire breathing beast! We put 12.5:1 pistons and the lumpiest cam you could find in it. Danged thing lasted about a week, until he t-boned a '66 Rambler with it. The car still lives on though. A friend put a LeMans nose on it, and a 350 engine, and it hibernates in his barn. Put the 455 into a 2WD pulling truck, and it STILL runs! The '66 is still around too, but the owner painted it black. 389 Tri Power and even has the red plastic fender liners. Still beautiful though!
  10. These all date from the mid to late 70's. I used to be one who would try to replicate a 1:1 car. The brown GTO was my kid brothers, the '66 GTO a friend I worked with, the AMX my wife's cousin's, and the rest just builds of cars I had seen. They are still with me after three moves and all these years, and after a change of interest to heavy trucks.
  11. Love the build so far...............and black to boot! That is superb!
  12. Wow.........that is s superb project you have going! AND, one I am interested in as I just acquired a KFS kit of this truck. Can't wait to get all of the bits for it. Yours looks like a WINNER!
  13. ROPS is the Roll Over Protection System, or the rollbar over the top of the cab. I don't blame night shift for me.....................it is a severe case of CRS...........(Can't Remember Stuff.......polite version)!
  14. I have enough projects sitting waiting to last me the rest of my life!
  15. THAT is a superb question! This is SUPPOSED to be Mack code 804 green. Back when I used to paint 1:1 trucks, we had an R600 and a DM600 steel nose of that color in our fleet. Every time I got paint for them, it was a SLIGHTLY different shade. Seems that this color has MANY different offsets to it, and is about impossible to match, at least in my experience. In fact when I bought the paint for this build, my local paint shop couldn't even find the code. SO.............I found a color chip, and matched it to the closest of my ability to an available paint. My paint supplier is a PPG shop, and I use acrylic enamels. This green is actually a GM code, number 3255, PPG Shop Line Enamels. I still have all of my old codes, but apparently, those formulas are less and less available in enamels today. Since I left the 1:1 painting world back in 1998, most of my old codes are not good any more, so now it is just look WAY WAY WAY back into my memory to remember the color and try to match to an existing chip!
  16. Looking VERY nice! Had an '85 GMC K3500 Sierra Classic big block with the single rear wheels that I bought new and beat to death. Had great dreams to redo it, and I got as far as gathering all new OEM sheet metal fenders, doors, hood, complete box, even a new cab, wheels, tires, lift kit, a crate 502, new interior and LOADS of other bits and pieces. But, I just ran out of steam and sadly, sold it when I moved. BUT, your build is getting me to start gathering pieces again, although in 1/25th scale! Takes up a lot less room too! Keep the photos coming! Thanks for the incentive! GREAT WORK!!!
  17. Very nice! Looks like you've been building forever!
  18. Nice looking build..............and very real looking!
  19. Yeah, the ROPS is all wrong, am modifying that. And yeah, some other things look too big etc., but it will serve the purpose. Didn't want to get into another involved rebuild, so it was a Q&D..............Quick & Dirty. I SHOULD have sectioned the top of the cab to extend it higher to enlarge it, but I chose the lazy way by simply extending the bottom of the cab/tank unit. Looks just a bit out but it'll work. I'll call it a 50 footer.................looks like the real D6T from 50 feet away!
  20. Nice KW!!!!!! Good work!
  21. Well, after spending a year plus on the CO4090A, I had to do an easy one, so I spent a couple days on the D6 shown elsewhere in this forum. So, now it's on to a little more involved one. This is an original MPC DM600 that I started almost 30 years ago. I used the Montone body from the Autocar kit, and figured on using the Tip Turbine engine from a Cruiseliner. I made my own pusher axle but am now going to use an aftermarket one. I also had narrowed the track between the rears. The interior is the steel dash one that I painted tan. The rebuild will see it painted 804 Mack Green and the frame will be red. I probably won't get carried away like I did with the IHC but time will tell!
  22. Years ago I found this New Bright remote control bulldozer at a tag sale for 25 cents. New Bright did a bunch of large scale RC toys, a Cat 245, 992, 777, D9L, but this one is a small scale D9, which measures about 7 inches long without the ripper. I scaled it out, and it pretty closely resembles a 1/25th scale Cat D6T. So, even though it isn't technically a kit, and I really didn't go for perfect prototypical details, here is a quick rebuild of this toy to a passable lowboy load. I painted the tracks steel, raised the cab about 1/2", plugged a few holes where the RC mechanisms were, made some engine covers to hide the low detail engine, (didn't feel like replicating that), added some upper track idlers, and painted it Cat Yellow. I am not totally fond of the ROPS that came with it, so am doing that over as shown. Then I will decal it an call it done. Not a high detail build, and not perfect to the 1:1, but, as a quick build, and one that passes muster for ME, it works!
