Please show us how your efforts turn out! I'm really curious about this one.

Looks real good so far. What is the kit?

Modelhaus going, going Gone !!!!!!
TomZ replied to WoodyRDC's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Modelhaus should set a limit on the size of the order they will accept to keep the strain under control. -
Microsoft Paint does a fine job of resizing pictures, and it's part a Windows.

Removing clear coat from windshield?? HELP Please!
TomZ replied to CFMgarage's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I will add that clear does not tolerate a lot of flexing and may develop stress cracks if you are not careful to fully support the area you are sanding. -
70 Torino GT Grille "Open Headlights"
TomZ replied to MrBuick's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks for the tip. I looked at the site, and I only saw a transkit for a '70 Torino, not the GT, which has a different grille. The pic doesn't include a grille anyway, I guess you'r supposed to use the one from the Cobra donor kit. But I appreciate your response. -
Not sure if this is entirely applicable to this discussion, but Henry Ford's "999" race car had tiller steering. With no mechanical advantage of any kind, it required massive strength to control it. One reason why Barney Oldfield became famous driving this car was because he was one of the few strong enough (and brave enough) to drive it.

"Pro-built" means "professionally built," right? And a professional is someone who is paid for their work, right? So if they sell their "pro-built" model on eBay and get paid for it, why then it indeed was "pro-built."

Bugatti Type 35 Revival of Italy...small steps to a Pocher
TomZ replied to Twokidsnosleep's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Just discovered this thread. Awesome stuff! Love the details about improving the kit. Some day I'll step up to a kit like that. -
The thing is, some eBay bidders don't do any homework. That has to be what these dream-price sellers are fishing for. It doesn't cost anything to relist the same item indefinitely. A couple of weeks ago a bidding war broke out for two sets of Herb Deeks PE wire wheel sets. The final price was $76 for the pair plus shipping. Quite a price, seeing as that Herb Deeks sells these on eBay for $19 a set with free shipping.

What happens if you order something on the site?

Another oddball model

There is a youtube video or two of this thing in operation. Either it or a reproduction still exists. -
Another oddball model

Solid axles, so it's four wheel drive. I built one of those. Not nearly as nice as yours, but a lot of fun since it's so weird. thanks for sharing. -
OMG I am loving this build! Those axels are works of art in their own right.

Hasegawa - Lancia Delta Martini Racing 1992 - Auriol-Occelli
TomZ replied to ADRY2015's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I did the Protar version of this kit and nothing fit. I had to do significant surgery on nearly every part of the interior, especially the roll bar. I actually had to cut a hole in the interior door panel to get the dash to fit in the car. I hope that this kit is much better. It looks good so far! -
Cutting out numbers from a sheet
TomZ replied to TomZ's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
THAT, sir, is a great idea! That stencil method is a good one to remember, too. thanks! -
I ruined the "22" number decal that goes on the radiator of my Lindberg Stutz racer. I thought I would simply print an outline on white decal paper and cut it out. But then I realized that my chances of making acceptable cuts on the curved portions of the "2" is about zero. Does anyone have a technique for cutting out curves like that? Thanks!

Octane could be described in layman's terms as how hard the gasoline is to light. I missed the diesel/gas torque question. I knew the answers for the others but guessed on that one.

Wow. There's an After Market Directory? I can't find it here. Wheare can I find this resource? thanks

There is a Westinghouse power turbine factory in this area .Every once in a while I see a turbine on the most amazing 15-axle articulated semi trailer you could ever imagine. Someday I'll try to build something like that.

I'll be there! My first gathering of any kind since I got back into models here in NC.

Modelhaus website shut down ( temporary )
TomZ replied to louie's topic in Links to Aftermarket Suppliers
Is there any indication of what will become of their excellent molds? I do surely hope that they can sell them for a tidy bit as a final send-off. Uh, I want those products to continue to be available, too!!! -
Heh. You've convinced me. Plating is definitely better.
