  9. When I was serving in the military, my XO (executive officer) bought a new '84 Pontiac Fiero. rightfully proud of his new purchase, after our morning formation he decided to show off his new car. I remember walking around the thing, admiring the rubber body panels and looking at the mid-engine design, listening to the Captain telling us all the cool features. Then when he went to start it up.....................nothing..........dead as could be. what a POS. brand new car, less than 500 miles on it. if I remember correctly it was gone within a month. and the XO bought a new Camaro.
  10. hard to believe....this old glue bomb is over forty years old. after building this kit, I thought all model cars were going to be this detailed.
  11. beautiful build. the paint is nice & deep. great engine detail.
  12. Luckily, it was Dusk when this Mopar Muscle guy shot my '69 Dart Swinger 340. But I think the '68 HEMI Coronet R/T was leaking a little something in the background. my little dart out in the daylight:
  13. very nice build. I really like those Lindberg '64 Dodge's. The magnum 500 wheels look terrific. And the engine bay looks nice & clean.
  14. mid sixties. my first set of wheels.
  15. AMT - '70 Dodge Super Bee.... my favorite to build. my first 1:1 was a '70 Super Bee....... fond memories. Revell - '70 Ford Mustang.....I have built several. I just like this kit alot. Funny too.....my Dad bought a '70 Mach 1 brand new, and I hated that car. Revell - '69 Dodge Dart GTS....Have owned a couple of these in 1:1, so I just use these kits to build replicas of my cars. it is a great kit Revell - '69 Dodge Charger... Have built a couple and I really like the way the kit builds up. AMT - '68 Plymouth Road Runner.......nice kit. AMT - 68 Shelby GT500.......over the years I've built many. probably a dozen. Monogram - '69 Dodge Coronet Super Bee.... a very nice kit. Monogram - '70 Plymouth Road Runner. Monogram - '70 Plymouth GTX. Monogram - '66 Ford Mustang.
  16. I have a friend who is an old top fuel dragster racer. while he is no longer in NHRA as a driver, he does build some engines. This is the motor he built for his 1970 Dodge Challenger: Keith Black 512 HEMI. Mooneyham 14-71 Supercharger. Enderle injection. he runs this car on methanol. 1500 horsepower. I've seen this car get the throttle whacked, the frame tweaks and the doors pop open. Brutal.
  17. Nice build.... great car choice. that monogram kit builds up nice.
  18. nice build. great kit. I have built a couple, including a replica of my 1:1. Ford Torino........Motor Trend 'Car of the year' for 1970
  19. The one that got away.......... in 1980 I was working in the west texas oil patch. eighteen years old, driving a '70 Dodge Super Bee.......and making boatloads of money. in the fall, we moved the oil rig I was working on into the company yard in midland, texas. I lived in odessa texas, and my commute to work took me right through town. Every day I would drive by a Datsun dealership.....and there was something in the showroom that caught my eye. One day when I guess curiousity got the better of me, I drove into that dealership lot and decided to go inside and see what this car was. it was a green 1967 Shelby GT500. and it was beautiful. 428 big block. Four Speed. Dual Quads. and it was in mint condition. Low, Low mileage. I believe it was 14,000. I knew exactly what I was looking at. and I wanted it pretty bad. the salesman informed me the original owner had traded it in on a new 280ZX. So, I asked the question: "How Much"? $14,500 in 1980, fourteen thousand dollars was alot of money. but I had a great job, and almost $8,000. in the bank. and my dodge. I asked about trading in my car, but the salesman said they didnt want it. and it was a pretty nice car, too. I thought about selling it, but decided if something went wrong I would still need a ride home to Colorado. Went to my bank, inquired about a loan. But with my age and lack of credit, that wasnt happening. asked my boss to loan me the money. He just laughed and said my Super Bee was a better car than that old Mustang. after a couple of weeks of trying, I noticed the Shelby was gone. I often wonder what hapened to that car.
  20. the people who actually build modelcars and have access to many kits are the folks to ask about kits and the parts they contain. so I would have to say this place is the best place to obtain that information. All you have to do is ask. The members of this forum will steer you in the right direction.
  21. I like the old Johan boxes. The Rapid Transit System art was cool.
  22. once upon a time I used an avatar that must have offended a few people. because a moderator, who shall remain nameless ( I'll give you a hint, his name sounds like a urinary tract infection) sent me a message asking me to remove it. I thought it was pretty funny.
  23. Wrong. my cousin came home from Viet nam and purchased a brand new 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge and it was Black. I asked him about it even then, and he said the dealership had a few colors to choose from, but he wanted a Ram Air III / 4 speed. And it just so happened the Judge was a Ram Air III / 4 speed. but it was definitely Black.
  24. 1/64 scale custom. Johnny Lightning Crew Cab Body. Matchbox roll off frame. it is functional. even the stinger works. BWAAAHHAAAHHAA!!!!!!!!
