  1. Monty, I shot a monogram '71 Plymouth GTX in testors/ colors by boyd - 'smoke grey pearl' / 52924 about 15 years ago. is this the color your talking about?
  2. my first attempt at a 1/25 scale garage. still a work in progress. occasionally I will stumble upon an item that is a good fit. so the new item is added, sometimes an older item is taken away, somtimes not. I started with an old wine crate (Penfold's grange) because it is very sturdy. gathered a few odds & ends from the parts box, AMT made the coca cola machine. and got a GMP Lift. still have a box of GMP accessories unopened for this garage. And the exterior of the wine crate still needs to be detailed.
  3. this '66 GTO isnt that old, and it has a seated, driver......er, ....uh figure included in the kit:
  4. one of my all-time favorite road signs, ever:
  5. Al Unser Sr. Won the 1970 & 1971 Indy 500 in a Johnny Lightning sponsored car......(Parnelli Jones Colt-Ford).
  6. Great Job. it resembles the 1:1 car trailer I drag behind my F250 SuperDuty.
  7. very nice. its great to see something as unusual as this. as opposed to an ocean of Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes. Looks Great to me!
  8. I use testors flat black as a primary color. then maybe semi-flat black or even gloss black for small details.
  9. a thread I can actually contribute to. Amazing! I collect Johnny Lightning and Hot Wheels as well. my collection started in 1968. some of my Johnny Lightning stuff: Hot Wheels: Would you like to see some of my open stuff?
  10. Thats a good question. apparently though, they had enough power:
  11. this is odd. I was having this conversation with my teenage daughter just the other day. while watching the national news on television, the story of this honda lawsuit came on. it was then that my daughter started asking some questions about the mileage of our fleet of vehicles, and the mileage that I get with each particular vehicle. While my Torino GT gets about eight (8) mpg, some of our cars & trucks that are Forty years newer dont get that much better fuel mileage. I explained to her that my theory is, the automobile industry seriously lost its way, about thirty years or so ago. I brought out a " People" magazine from 22 december 1980. my wife saved it from way back, probably because its a tribute issue to John Lennon. The reason I showed her this magazine was inside the front cover, is a three page foldout, an advertisement from Plymouth. it basically highlighted the upcoming model year offerings. The Plymouth Reliant K-wagon..........40mpg Hwy/ 24city. Plymouth Reliant K- sedan.................41mpg Hwy/ 25 city. Plymouth Reliant K- coupe.................41mpg Hwy/25 city. Plymouth TC 3 Hatchback...................41mpg Hwy/27 city. Plymouth Horizon miser.....................50mpg Hwy/30 city. Plymouth Champ Hatchback..............50mpg Hwy/37 city. Now, those are pretty strong numbers, for that time period rather remarkable. so my question to her, and to anyone else is, What Happened? How did the automobile industry lose it's way? I mean come on, in the past thirty two years the corporations couldnt come up with something that would/and or could improve these numbers? This is a great example of how the Automobile industry as a whole has really gone astray. Now we have so-called Hybrid vehicles that cant approach these numbers. or the numbers of the competitors that Chrysler/Plymouth compares itself to in this advertisement. So my real question to automobile consumers around the globe is why isnt everyone more upset about this? How did this industry lose its way so badly? This issue should have been brought to the forefront when the Automobile industry had its hand out asking for taxpayer dollars a few years ago. To big to fail? I dont think so. they fail the consumers every year. I'm glad this lawyer, or ex-lawyer is taking this issue to court. and I hope everyone prevails in the giant class action lawsuit. I believe every automobile company fudges the numbers on what consumers should expect from their vehicles. and I also believe that at least here in the United States, The EPA and our government allow them to continue to do so.
  12. I can only speak for myself, but can honestly say that after more than four decades of building, my parts boxes are full of some pretty cool engines & parts . Have not purchased any 'Ross Gibson' engines, as I cant justify spending as much for one engine as I spend on one modelkit. When I was just getting started in modelcar building, I would buy AMT 3-N-1 kits, because they were usually loaded with extra parts. flea markets, yard sales and that kind of stuff were always good for some parts, too.
  13. thats great! a nice build up. sweet color, cool rims. I have a friend who built a sleeper '66 El Camino. only he used a LS6/- 454 and left the little crossed flag emblems on the fender. it is one quick little Elky, when he can get traction.
  14. um..... wouldnt that be a " scarpion"? ......... as a rural American, I see all kinds of animals here in Montana, alot of them are named after cars or sports teams. have not themed a build after any of them yet.
  15. looks pretty sharp. the interior detail is really nice, Pretty cool looking Mustang.
  16. I'm positive that is the very first model kit I ever built. I still have some pieces of that one. it met a gory fate. Bought a couple of the re-issue's. Thanks for posting that picture. it takes me way, way back. I need to snap a picture of some of my old/ vintage kits I have stashed away. maybe someone will see one in my stash that makes me feel the way I do when I see that old Hemi Under Glass.
  17. that Blue really compliments the bodylines of your old Plymouth. the V10 is cool. great idea for a build. I like it.
  18. FredCadyInc. supplied the decals for this Twister Special build. same place I bought the decals for my '70 Twister Mustang:
  19. Thanks everyone. This is the Revell kit # 85-2353 '70 Ford Torino Cobra. a great kit. this is the third one I have built. I used one kit to build a replica of my 1:1 Torino GT.
  20. The johan kit is a nice one. it can be built up pretty good. I built one a long, long, long time ago. and put the wrong year hood treatment on it, too. (I owned a '68, and was trying to replicate it....LOL.)
  21. another unfinished build, that I have decided to put back on the bench. a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra / Twister Special. Thanks for looking.
  22. no. it's not mis-spelled. Ford never made a BOSS 429 Mach 1. Anyway, just building my version of a '70 Ford Mach 1 Street Machine. started out as a 3-N-1 Monogram Boss 429 kit. The color is testors grabber blue. FredCadyInc. Decals and some parts box rims. slowly but surely, its coming along: Mock-up.......Checking the stance. the "stink - bug" look was in: didnt care for the quality of the original paint job. stripped it, prepped it and re-shot the grabber blue one more time. turned out a little better. thanks for looking.
  23. great build. super clean paint scheme. nice looking 'A body' mopar.
