  1. Nicely finished, in a livery I haven't seen before! I like it!
  2. Around here, the Michael's stores have never had a good selection of kits. Not sure why they even bother.
  3. Interesting. I've never heard of this shop, but he's about 5 minutes from me. I think I'll head over at lunch today, see what he has.
  4. I love it. Looks so menacing.
  5. I love reading these updates. So happy that every day shows progress for him. You're both still smiling and staying positive, and that is huge.
  6. Oh man, these things are just amazing. Whatever guitar you have, I highly recommend swapping in a set of Fluence pickups. The multi-voice feature is just...wow. So both the volume and tone controls now have push/pull functionality. Leave them down, and "classic" voicing with a warmer Les Paul kind of tone. Sort of. Pull them up, and it switches to "Modern" voicing, and just growls. Ups the boost and totally transforms the tone. The variety of tone I can get from this guitar now is just amazing. I haven't touched a kit in a week, not since I got this beast back together! I've been playing every night instead of sitting at the bench!
  7. I have no idea what this is, but I kind of dig it.
  8. Plus raking prevents forest fires and other natural disasters. *cue the angry comments*
  9. Looks like something from a sci-fi movie. Not something I'd be in to building, but I'm all for new toolings and new kits.
  10. It's hard to be funny anymore. Society is so offended these days by everything. Comedians can't make jokes anymore. Even I'm feeling stifled in the humour department. I had a couple of zigners to post here, but there are many people, even here, that would completely freak out. Remember that epoisode of South Park with Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo? In that episode, the school put on their non-denominational Holiday Play, with everything that could be considered offensive to anyone being taken out. It turned into a steaming pile. That was supposed to be satire, not a gameplan. Anyway...
  11. So I found the voting to be a challenge this year, and then I totally overthought the process. I looked at the kits and based my decision on a few things. First, I thought about how much thought went into the build. That wasn't enought to help me make my decision, because all of these were obviously the result of some serious brainstorming sessions...and in many cases, some mind altering substances of some description. Second, I looked at build quality. Again, couldn't decide based on that because all of these features some decent engineering, and everything looked "right" to me. Third, I just looked at what I liked. Again, there were several that jumped out at me, so that couldn't be my deciding factor. Fourth, I looked at it from a realism point of view. Could the car actually finish a Cannonball Race? Ultimately, I took all of the above into account, narrowed it down to a couple, and just picked the one I felt was the coolest build.
  12. The scratchbuilding skills around here never cease to amaze me. Excellent work so far. Looking forward to seeing more!
  13. You know it! Living in northern Aberta, you might say that I'm familiar with winter driving. And one thing we can count on is that when the snow flies, there will be more SUVs in the ditch than anything else. People get in their SUVs and assume athat because they have four wheel drive, and ABS, and traction control, and whatever other nonsense they've been sold by the dealer, that they are invincible and impervious to snow and ice. That because they have the latest and greatest, snow and ice is like pavement for them. ANd then they complain to whoever will listen abotu the condition of the roads. It seems like a simple concept, but driving to the conditions actually works. That, and winter tires. I think winter tires should be mandatory on all vehicles. And that is a huge rant I like to go off on, so I'll elave that for another time. Anyway, electric trucks. I think they're a cool idea, but the tech and the infrastructure aren't there yet.
  14. Is that the museum in Heritage Park? Awesome place. A few years ago they had a movie/tv car showing. So besides the amazing permanent displays, they had a few dozen "famous" cars.
  15. I've heard he has a US distributor. I'm speculating here, but because of his health issues, I would guess he hasn't been making product, which means the distributor may not have the inventory you want. Anyway, once he does get healthy and gets things back up and running, I heartily endorse his product. I've bought a lot of items from Clearly Scale, and it is all very high quality. I will order again for sure!
  16. If the domestic brands could build a car that competes with the imports, I'd buy it.
  17. I deal with this constantly! People don't realize that they can custom order a truck the way they want. Dealers and sales people rarely let them know, because they want to move the units on ground so they get paid faster. And if a dealer tells you that you cannot factory order your next vehicle, they're probably lying to you. There are sometimes delays in production, or mayeb a model changeover, but you can always factory order.
  18. http://ajournalofmusicalthings.com/singer-pete-shelley-of-buzzcocks-dies/?utm_source=Alan+Cross's+Newsletter&utm_campaign=459db575b5-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_6ce8d25fda-459db575b5-72690893 I'd mention his band name, but it would probably be censored. Love his music.
  19. http://www.wastelandweekend.com/ Post-apocalyptice themed festival in the middle of the desert. Check the galleries on the link above, or google "wasteland weekend." Some interesting sights, interesting vehicles, and some of the young ladies' clothing is...ummm...intriguing. Shall we say.
  20. Hired a new account manager for the team here. One more thing I can check off the list before the holidays.
  21. The more I read about people, the more I understand why The Grinch wants to live alone in the mountains with his dog. https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/angry-parents-call-for-removal-of-offensive-sign-near-school-1.4207204
  22. MSRP on the highest trim level wit hall the options will still be over $90k CDN. Just like the high level offerings from Ford and Ram. If you know where to go though, you can get the truck for significantly less. Hint, hint. A nice mid-level truck with a few extras and a diesel will be had for under $60k CDN. Base model work spec with gas engine and a few extras, around $40k CDN. Which is where all the brands have had their trucks priced for years. Meh, I still like it.
  23. I have a question! Does Castrol Super Clean "go dead" after a while? I've always used this for stripping kit chrome or stripping paint, and it's always been great. However, I have a kit that I'm stripping chrome from now. It's been in the purple pond for a couple of days, and it hasn't touched it. Chrome intact, even after attacking it with the toothbrush I normally use. The CSC was a brand new jug in mid-AUgust and has been used a couple of times since. I've never had this problem before. Kit is just an AMT Canepa Kenworth. I know that CA glue loses its effectiveness once opened, does the Super Clean do the same? Thoughts?
  24. I like it. A new Silverado 2500 LT Trail Boss with the Duramax will make a perfect tow rig next summer. The half ton is kind of funny looking, unless you go with the Trail Boss trim package. Eliminates the chrome and some of the extra trim, and adds offroad ability. Oh wait, that's what I did.
