Thanks JC.

Yes, but there is very little difference in the sponsorship decals from year to year. You can likely mix and match to get the car you want. Fola from Slotfabrik is working on a set of decals for the IMSA cars (66 67) that should be ready next week sometime.

Ismael, yes, its two pieces. The red part in the shot is one piece, the roof, the butress' and the rear fenders/rockers are one piece and the white/blue center is the other, makes painting much easier.

Red White and Blue. Gravity Colors Ford Competition Blue/Red and Titanium White.

Wheels and tires almost done. Engine in progress as well. Paint is almost done then I can start on the decals. Watching the 24 hrs of Le Mans replay on Youtube while working away on this.

Looking forward to following this Lou. I was going to use this kit originally but went with the Mustang instead. It's a really nice kit. Good luck.

I ordered mine from the UK. They just hit the EU distributors at the end of last week. I'm guessing they're on the way to the US distributors now. I wouldnt be surprised to see them start to become available next week.

I got a double post some how, so if a mod could delete one please. Thanks.

You could or you could get one of the snap kits and then bash the two together. It's basically the same cad files for both, they just tweaked the GTLM car for the racing parts. The two piece body design is the same. I've got a couple, I'll check and see how some of the parts work together. Or wait for Jan/Feb and get Tamiya's road version.

Got the first of what will be a few Ford GT's in today (three this time around and another on the way). I'm really impressed so far with this kit. It's much better than the C7R. There is room for improvement and Revell does things weird, but hey, it's here and it doesnt cost $200+, so for the price point I'll fix or correct what I dont like. I'm home all weekend and the weather is looking crappy so I'll be making some headway on this all weekend, for now a teaser.

Got mine today too. My wip post will be up soon too. You're right, its not a bad kit, much better than the C7R.

My Revell Ford GT Le Mans cars arrived from the UK today, x3. I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Yeah, James is right, there's only one kit. Originally it was suppose to be put out by Revell USA, then Germany picked up the development and finished it off with the demise of USA. I think Germany was going to produce and release it as well but like the C7R, after the USA section did. And yes, I bet the wheels werent pushed onto the axles enough.

I tend to use Super Clean for about a year then replace it. It will very on how well it works the older it gets. Also if you strain it now and again you'll get more life out of it cause it will keep reacting with the left over paint in the bath. I find Super Clean doesnt strip chrome off certain types as well either. For me I find it doesnt work well on Aoshima wheels. I use IPA on that. I have one bath of IPA and one of Super Clean and will swap between them if I find one isnt working on a particular brand of paint. I'd avoid IPA on resin as it can soften certain brands (HRM for one is a no no in IPA) others might be ok but once I discovered that I just stick with Super Clean as I've not had it affect resin or plastic yet. Just keep the baths in a tupperware type container with a lid on it for safety and of course it will evapourate over time. Wear gloves too as both will pull the oils out of your hands and dry the skin out which will then flake off, found that one out the old fashion way. Temperature also matters with Super Clean. If its in your garage on the floor its gonna work slower than if it was in your basement at room temp. Some people will warm it up. I just have it in my hobby room beside my paint booth. When I need to strip something I just set the tub inside the booth and leave it over night, generally long enough. With chrome I find it will work almost immediately on most chromes if its relatively new, again age will slow it down. Most chromes with fresh Super Clean will be clean in minutes. Tho I generally throw stuff in before bed and when I get up, pull it out and wash it off and its stripped completely. With older paint jobs it may take a few days and a few scrubs sessions with an old toothbrush to loosen off the affected paint and expose the under lying paint to the bath but Super Clean will get most jobs done.

The one at Milwaukee was Dave Thibodeau's test build up for Revell. Also the kit in the Scale Auto issue from August. I'm not sure who did the build up at the Euro shows cause I'm pretty sure it wasnt Dave's, he did the 67 car and the ones at the EU shows I think was the 66. Pic of Dave's GT at Telford, The wheels look pretty tucked in to me, not sure which version you saw at Euro Scale Modelling.

DeAgostini 1/8 1967 Shelby GT 500....Update! 2/5/19

Bill here's a link to Legendary Motorcar in Canada, they do lots of restorations and provide pics. This is a '68 but I doubt there's too much difference if any when it comes to the brake lines and other small details. http://www.legendarymotorcar.com/inventory/1968-ford-mustang-shelby-gt500-prototype-824.aspx -
I know this is a bit old, but it seems they ran a couple "off road" vehicles in 2013. The Chevy C10, there's another pick up https://gerardbrown.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/car-67/G0000twWYwZY2n2s/I0000pcnEDL_z_iQ/C0000OEVfJg0NdjU and what looks like a Toyota Land Cruiser https://gerardbrown.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/car-86/G0000TmosknprlL0/I0000f7D4rpfR.jY/C0000OEVfJg0NdjU

I'd say you're good on this one. One of the Mustangs from 2016 (might be '13) had the same rack with it's spares attached. I'll see if I can find the pic to upload. Here's a link, 2013 P2P rally. https://gerardbrown.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/car-96/G0000mTRFOcDC62c/I0000NthZcqehnt4/C0000OEVfJg0NdjU https://gerardbrown.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/car-96/G0000mTRFOcDC62c/I00008hIRGmSxBU8/C0000OEVfJg0NdjU

Cale, I'd say no. I've not seen it done on any other car in my research as of yet. I'm guessing if it was allowed someone would have done it. I could be wrong tho.

Brian, it has a decent engine, the issue is, that the top of the motor has a huge cover, like most modern cars now, especially European cars, so once built you cant see the motor at all. Much like the Revell AMG GT kit. Dominik you did a great job man. You're 100% right about the sink holes. I couldnt believe had bad they were and where they were located. Revell made a mess of what really could have been a beautiful kit. It's still worth the build if you're a Porsche fan, but Revell definitely did a bad job on the design. I also agree on the choice of molding colour. I have no idea why companies are making kits "molded in colour" anymore. Snapper kits for the kids, sure that I get, but what really is a detailed glue kit aimed at the adult builder, mold the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH things in a white or light grey. Black for chassis/wheels I get but bodies should be done in a light colour to allow people to paint them a lot easier. The AMG GT in yellow, another crappy base colour, the McLaren 570S orange, another bad choice, and this metallic blue was bad as well. I did mine in a Porsche metallic blue so I was ok, but I can only image how hard it was to cover up that blue with white. Nice work Dominik.

no, the Ford GT has a turbo charged ecoboost v6
-
Decalcas is suppose to be doing a detail set for this. PE and resin wheels not sure in the windshield wiper is part of the deal or not, re diffuser is for sure.
-
Just found an unboxing video on Youtube for this kit. It's in German but at about the 9:45 mark you can see the brake rotors and it looks like they have the proper groves in them. The decal sheet has what looks like decal accents for the grooves if you want to use them and not paint.

Tamiya paint stands...

I use plastic water bottles too (with some water in them for weight) and blue tack on the top,. Works well too and its skinny enough to be able to turn the bottle on its side to get at the bottom of the rockers and into the wheelwells. Also good for attaching hoods to for painting and clear especially if the middle is done in matte black padding like a lot of near cars have.
