  1. Ok, you've piqued my interest. I'll check it out. Up till now I assumed (I know ass-u-me) it was , well, never gave it much thought, too much to look at in other places.
  2. New question: Do the older AM kits ( without the fidlley hoods) all have the PE parts ?
  3. Guess we need to put some air in em
  4. I'll be the first one to give (you earned it) a pass. and by the way I agree with everything you said. Dano got it right too. In my opinion.
  5. One PE set is for the hood on this kit only. The other two kits don't have the finned hood.
  6. I just opened the Revell version and was surprised to find two PE sets did all the kits come with PE sets ?
  7. From what I discovered on line there may be three different kits based on three different versions of the 1:1 cars. The "Prototype" with a flat or 396 style hood, the second with a scoop type (same as the AMT kit) hood and the third with the more elaborate finned type scoop.
  8. I'm reading a book about the Ramchargers, a bunch of guys I'm sure most of you have heard of. Anyway, ( as Mel Brooks says in Blazing Saddles) "work, work , work" and then these guys would go home and flog it till the midnight hours with quite a string of accomplishments I might add. I'd have to say if you work in the model car industry and don't like it, get out. You're doing something wrong. I'm continually amazed at the sour grapes most people have, working in this industry, hearing it here and on many other boards from many other insiders. I for one am tired of all the doom and gloom. Walk into any hobby shop ( Hobby Lobby, Michaels included) and tell me we aren't in the golden age of modeling, again.
  9. Dave we still have cool people today that show up with neat ideas for new kits.
  10. By "tooled so much" do we assume this to mean a subject Tooled by many different company's in many different forms ( hardtop, convertible etc.) all the same car ? Like you suggest, the venerable '57 Chevy ? or , and this could be just as interesting and maybe require it's own post, one kit that has been released, rereleised, reissued numerous times. Even then, thinking of the Monogram Blue Beetle (for example) and all it's reissues there have been so many changes.
  11. Casey you are correct. They are from an old Aurora catalog found here :http://www.majormattmason.net/aurora/
  12. Let me be the first to say, job well done my friend.
  13. Buy it ! I think that is #1 on the modelers remorse list. #1 The kit I didn't pony up for. Coulda ... Woulda... Shoulda ! I'll get a second shot at this one.
  14. I too, have many going at once. Right now it's : Pearl Harbor by Newt Gingrich, Barnes Wallis' Bombs; Stephen Flower, and one about "The Ramchargers". Just finished Go Like Hell by A.J.Baime: "TV" Tommy Ivo by Tom Cotter and The Avro Arrow Story by Bill Zuk. Here's my Cobra list from Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/TOP-ELEVEN-COBRA-BOOKS/lm/R3HOPU136F8IRG/ref=cm_srch_res_rpli_alt_2
  15. Yeah, (sigh) the 289 Cobra roadster. Was there a Daytona Coupe on that board too ?
  16. Mike is correct. Age has nothing to do with it other than the possibility of less experience, really the consideration would be the same with any group of people, some have experience and some don't. Having been a teacher I think your problems will come from other areas, interest levels. keeping them motivated, time on task, girls in the class. I usually had one or two girls in my industrial arts classes and they were the better students. As to which kit, I don't think it matters. It will be up to your building skills and how well you can impart that information onto your students. I would suggest you build the kit beforehand so you get the feel of problem areas. Good luck, let us know how it went.
  17. I wonder if we'll see the McLaren next ?
  18. "The molds....who knows" so then . . . when they're gone, there gone ? If'n you want more than one you better jump now ?
  19. Still, the question of the "no name " tires.
  20. That's right , it has those cool yellow lettered tires. My Bad. Sorry.
