Such an awesome build! I gotta be honest I'm building a modified general lee, and even though I'm building a different engine with it, your thread is teaching me so much (no I'm not copying haha just learning and appreciating your skills)

Cannonball Run 2016 "The Aussieball" Official Build Thread
CFMgarage replied to TFchronos's topic in Community Builds
Thank you! Those are RC car wheels and tires. I took a gamble and it seems to have worked I think they're from Losi. They'd be way small for a raptor, trust me. I measured them to be 1.25 inches, which means they're 31.25" real life. And the bike is from Heller. They make 4 race bike kits in 1/25 scale, I got this Yamaha a few weeks ago. 30-some pieces, built in a couple days. You can mask off the lights and paint it for street use. -

After taking a good look at the map and googling as much of the terrain as possible I realized, that while it's off-road, it's still pretty decent, so now that my kit and tires and wheels came in I mocked up some "stance"... -

I was contemplating doing my usual modern import stuff but hey I may as well step out of my comfort zone Can't wait to see your posts...looks like I found a similar class vehicle to tackle the obstacles of the land down under side by side with. ? -
Wow very pretty, well done! Definitely captured my attention with the back story as well.

^To add to my entry post...I aim to create the evil lovechild of the Charger from Furious7 and a musclecar trophy truck, with a little bit of added land-down-under survival stuff. -

I will make my entry official as I ordered my kit just now (and I'm very impatient so it's coming overnight from amazon)...I'll be entering with a 69 Charger. I mainly build imports but this is something I wanted to build anyway, so the plans include a lift, pre-runner style suspension, 33" tires, and lots of body modifications to store the necessities for such a trip. I'm lucky that the kit comes with a rollcage, but I'll make interior modifications, and I haven't excluded the idea of RHD yet, however it's old enough to keep LHD. Engine is gonna depend on budget...I'm considering a 4x4 diesel platform as well as a newer engine with some forced induction, but the Good Ole' 440 (I think) may do just fine with some added accessories and detail. Needless to say, I'm probably way in over my head and it'll take forever to complete this. -

Is it too late to enter? I'd love to do this as it'd be my first but I just found this thread...Please let me know and in the meantime I'll come up with a kit asap!!! -
Wow very clean R34!

Really well done, though. I'm a huge fan of any Japanese car, so good job on a car that is pretty rare in my opinion.

I'm slowly getting around with the build of this car. The weekdays suck for me so I try to sneak in a minute here, a minute there. I have 3 other cars that I'm working on, as I like the realism of doing multiple builds at once, like a real shop. I have finished the basic paint on this car...may hit it with more clear, but I snapped a pic. Obviosuly it needs detail around the headlights, they were so glued in, I had to pain with them attached. Next up is more engine detail then we can move to the interior.

Wow awesome story and it's great you got it back! Can't wait to see how it goes!

You can see here that when I took apart this cheapo gluebomb I realized the hubs were glued to everything. I made some new pieces to make the supra able to turn its wheels again. In the background you can see the engine already getting *some* paint and slowly being worked...more on that later

After a full dissasembly and a day in the purple pond. Also please excuse the mess on my bench, I was home for 5 days so I multi tasked my builds :)
-
Not sure how these first pics will come out but long story short I got this fast and furious glue bomb supra from eBay for $8 shipped. I'm gonna de-rice it and give it some nice upgrades.
