I built it using mostly AMT parts, used original 62 kit sedan fender assembly I got locally with unused sedan 39 hood and grille also from a 62 kit my cousin built and the coupe body and frame I got off ebay. Motor is a used 56 Ford Y block and took the hubcaps from the Revell 40 standard glue bomb.

It snowed about 1 1/2 inches this morning and you would have thought no one had ever seen snow,I drive a 2wd truck with no weight in the back and had no problem.

Looks nice.

Looking good,I built one back in the early 70s and would like to build another.

I am working on one and using the chopped 3 window top from the original kit and the top does not fit very good where it meets the hood.

Forgot to take it to work with me this morning,I can not paint in the basement due to the humidity and probably not been able to at work with all the snow falling off the cars we worked on so it might be a few days before I can paint -

I picked up a built Revell 40 standard I could do that to but it will be a couple years before I can begin to think about doing it.

The 71 and 72 AMXs had a roof that looked like they could have had a T top and the 73/74s had a flat roof,I think the regular Javelins in 71/72 also had the flat roof but its been many years since I really paid attention to them. -
Thin slick origins

When I started to build in the late 60s and early 70s they were not in the kits I built, some had the slightly wider versions. -
Thin slick origins

I have never seen these thin slicks before so I presume they are from the early to mid 60s. -

The 39 hood I am using came from the original 62 kit and finally got some paint on it tonight after sitting around for 54 years. -
A local small hobby shop buys up collections so I have been grabbing all the thin slicks that no one else gets since they work great on 30s and 40s cars where a tall tire is desired and no modifications are needed. I have been getting some that are soft too.

If its the same as on the box its a 72 ,the one I built ended up having 73/74 tail lights which disappointed me since I did have a real 72 AMX -

I am going to use 40 headlights and this one was built with parts I got off ebay and a local hobby shop plus parts in stock,I did not buy any complete kits to build this one and a couple years ago bought the sedan kit and built it as a 40 standard,I have another 39 hood and grille so I see a standard sedan delivery in the future. The Y block is a tight fit and only needs a slot ground in the front of the oil pan,if I did not want to use the 56 aircleaner and tall teapot carb I could have made it fit without the slot. -

Got the Y block in and need to find a fan belt that will work,it figures that after I done some deals for some stock valve covers I would find a pair. -

It looks like I will have to grind a slot in the oil pan to clear the metal axle to get the motor to sit low enough that the original 56 air cleaner will not hit the hood. One would think that the parts would interchange easily from the coupe, sedan and sedan delivery but there were a few little modifications that were needed. -
