  1. Yeah, I remember as I saw it over at HH and mentioned you'd really like it. Thought it was funny you used it as an avatar, however, it does compliment your building style to a tee! Chris
  2. I'm with Ken and Bill on those Tamiya paint stands. Those things are great! I have a couple of them and swear by them. The body stand is adjustable too. I have also picked up some helping hands from Menards for about $5.00. These are the alligator clip ends that are also adjustable. Chris
  3. Nice Avatar Marc! I'll be going back to HL to see what they actually have and pick up something I don't need. Only because I can...
  4. Just like 935k suggested, get a board that would fit in your window and a small dryer hose(6 ft. should cover it) and get it all mounted. The trick with the board fitting in your window is make sure it can be removed when you are done venting. This way it's not a permanent thing in your window. Only use it when you paint. I'll even send you a dryer hose if I have some extra around here. You can find scrap boards anywhere. Filters are cheap. I even have a fan I could send you to help out. Let me know. I did the same thing as Bill did and bought a Paasche booth. Best model investment I ever made. I had to wait another year before I bought a dehydrator, and just like Bill, purchased at Wal-Mart for $38.00. It all takes time, but start off with a home-made booth first but at the very least vent it out. Save some money for a nice booth and keep the removable board, nobody is the wiser. I hope this helps, and let me know if you want these items. I'll send them gratis. Chris
  5. James, that car is incredible! I'm going to have to get one. Just because of your build! Thanks for sharing your progress and tips! Chris
  6. I knew this wasn't new news, but I figured they would just keep popping out re-issues or currents until the place was bought. Well, if that is the case I have a few AMT's I better pick-up. Of course I have to go online for what I want. Just was curious if they were being discounted anywhere else. Chris
  7. The more I use it the better it becomes. I like it myself. As with the suitcases I see they are red when it's a new topic. If you posted in the topic it receives a small corner patch. Chris
  8. While going through Hobby Lobby's model section with my son yesterday I noticed something with the AMT kits. All and I do mean ALL AMT kits had sale tags on them. They were either $8.99 or $8.39 depending on the price of the kit. I wondered to myself if this was a sign of things to come. Is Hobby Lobby going to stop carrying AMT kits? When they are gone will they be replaced? Unfortunately in my town this is the only place with a decent selection of kits. If the kit aisle goes away, even if only the AMT kits, it isn't a good sign. Anyway, has anyone else noticed this at their HL?
  9. If my memory serves me right, I believe their was glass and some chrome missing from the mold. I'm not absolutely 100%, but that's what pops into my head. I really don't think we'll see anything from them until we get a new buyer. Chris
  10. Progress is slow here. Looking for a more realistic seat, so I used a pin vise and drilled out the seats shoulder points. Here is one that's almost finished next to one I have to start: I debated on whether to tape off the complete car and spray the little bit of black around the windows, but I opted for the method I have been using on a few of the cars. Taping it off and hand painting: I've yet to polish the body, but I want to make sure she gets a good gassing out. I'm hoping to have the interior closer to finished. Going to take lots of detailing. Thanks for looking. Chris
  11. James, That exhaust looks very realistic. I like the shading near the mufflers. Did you use regular testor paints or some kind of weathering? James, it just looks great. Keep the shots coming! Chris
  12. I'd also like to add that I had no email either. The same thing goes for emodelcars.com. I never get an email of my ended auctions with bidders. Anyway, even with Firefox, she runs slow, but I'm hoping when Gregg gets more time he can tweak the board. Chris
  13. As with anything, it'll take me a few days to get used to it, but if it works better then I am all for it! Thanks Gregg! Chris
  14. Tim, that is a beautiful looking truck! I hope when I finally get myself a rig I can get it to look half as good. I've been looking for a Peterbilt kit for awhile, but I'm being stingy with a price. Anyway, I love it. Thanks for sharing! Chris
  15. I may have to snag a 68 Firebird Conv. You did a really nice job on that bad boy. Here is what mine will look like when finished: Chris
  16. Beautiful work and great progress Marcos WOW! Chris
  17. I love your Volvo! All your builds are nice. Great work! Chris
  18. John, I would think Michaels or Hobby Lobby as far as chain stores, but check with your local Hobby Shop too, they may be able to get it for you easier. Chris
  19. OK, So I finally was able to paint yesterday morning. Whipped out the trusty airbrush and tried out the new to me Zero paints. I am very impressed. Dare I say it applies even better than Cobra Colors does!?!?!? Same goes for the clear-coat, but I highly recommend following their instructions on application. I fudged on them and paid, nothing some 4000 polishing grit couldn't take care of. So we are all clear here, it was user error on the clear. The Zero color is Chrome Silver. I used not even a 1/2 oz. Very nice paint! I'll be ordering more soon. After I polished the errors out I re-sprayed with my favorite clear, Tamiya TS-13. Here is the Zero Clear: Here she is with the final clear of Tamiya: Tough to photograph silver and the shine. At any rate I expect very good results after I get the body polished. I have yet to tape off the body and get the black trim sprayed. Something I will do after a few more days to allow the paint to gas out and harden a bit more before I start taping off. Here is my finished window glass too: I wish every manufacturer supplied window masks! Chris
  20. JT, that's ingenious! SO, you apply like normal and then paint after application? Thanks! Chris
  21. I concur with Bill. Interior looks awesome. What did you use for flocking? And, what is your technique? Beautiful! Chris
  22. That body looks great! Nice panel lines! Should be nice when it is all tied together! Chris
  23. Darin, I initially saw your post over at HH and thought, why would he do that to the Ferrari SA? It made no sense. Now, that I see what you wrote here, I understand, somewhat. The SA has more characteristics of the 575 than the 550 though. All the same, I really look forward to your work on this. I love the Firebird vert as well. That should look sharp. Not sure what color yo are going to paint it, but I see it in Verdoro green with black interior myself. As Len suggested, it looks like you are getting masters ready for Don @ Reliable Resin! Look forward to your progress! Chris
  24. Rob, I was able to order mine from HLJ. Again, it is just the Daytona Speciale enthusiast kit re-boxed. Here is the new box: Here is the first release box: I received my body shell with a crack in it. HLJ has sent me notification that they are sending me a replacement body free of charge. The cowl has a split, an extremely easy piece to fix, but I figured with the price you pay for enthusiast kits it should be right on. I will say I paid considerably less through HLJ for the kit and that includes shipping! Chris
  25. Very Cool! Your headlight treatment looks great! The car looks ready to go down the 1320! Chris
