Bill, I look forward to your incredible touch on this kit. You spit out detail like it's natural. I'd have to sit and contemplate when and how. I can't thank you enough for sharing your progress. I learn with every one of your builds. Chris

Up on all fours: Nice little front shot: Body just needs light sanding now before I apply the Zero paint. Getting the windshield ready for semi gloss black: A couple more pieces of tape and I'll have that sprayed. Really want to get that body done before I get into the interior so it has time to gas out and get it polished. Still have a little finishing to do on the chassis as far as exhaust is concerned. Thanks Bill! R G-- Here is my bench: The grid is a self healing mat intended for people who sew. My wife bought it for me last year. Not the type I wanted, but hey, the wife did ok and it works. You can see more of my hobby room by CLICKING HERE

Well, here is where I am at now. It's now sitting on all four wheels and tires. Oddly enough she sits on 3 wheels with the wheels in the straight position. However, when I turn the wheels they sit on all fours. Either I didn't do something right or I got a small warp in my kit. Anyway, the humidity is still bad so I won't be able to get the body painted yet. I'll keep plugging away at it. Thanks for looking. Chris

Terry, Just give them a try. I had no problems with two orders from Hiroboy. The shipping was fast as well and everything was packed great. Chris -
Gorgeous! I definitely want to see this when finished! Thanks for sharing it with us! Chris

Hiroboy Paints....
crispy replied to Len Geisler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Ismael, The clearcoat I purchased from Zero says, "Pre-Thinned LACQUER Clearcoat". I do believe the CC stuff should work with it, however, I would test a small inconspicuous area first. Chris -
Hiroboy Paints....

I'm waiting for th humidity to drop here so I can shoot my Nissan. I had no problem getting Zero paints shipped to me here in MN. The shipping time was under two weeks as well. I'm not a real big fan of the paint in the plastic bottles, but I can see shipping them this way over the ocean. Nothing I can't transfer to some badger jars. Chris -
I used dry transfers on my ATF Dingo: These were some woodland scenics dry transfers. Chris

The Tamiya Nissan R-34 Z-Tune: The car will be sprayed with Zero Paints Nissan Chrome Silver. This is a Z-Tune only color. P.E. is from Tamiya as well. A nice simple box stock build. I've always like how the R-34's looked, mean! This kit when it came out was a must have. I figure I have built an Evo, now I need this and a Scooby to complete the tri-fecta! Chris

New to painting models and primer sanding?
crispy replied to Critter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have to echo the same sentiments for Tamiya. If you can afford to get them then do it. They are a little more pricey, but the end result is worth it. Tamiya also makes a great primer, both in gray and white. As Bill said, these are fantastic primers. My thought on sanding is start with the bare plastic body. Lightly scuffed for the primer to "bite" into. Once you get your primer down a light sanding on that as well. Same goes for color coats. I usually sand each color coat lightly with exception to the last coat. Clear coats get sanded lightly as well with final polishing on the last coat. 3M makes some great wet-dry sandpaper in grits of 1000-2000. I usually use these on the bare plastic. I then switch over to higher grades when it comes to paints. The biggest thing here is prep work on the body before you lay down your first color coat. Ismael G. has that down to a science and I credit him with some of my better paint jobs. As was suggested, practice, practice, practice. It is true, you do get better with each one. One other suggestion that Bill Geary told me once, Treat every part as a model unto itself. Your results will improve ten fold. He wasn't kidding. Chris -
That looks great Ismael! Another fine piece to your collection! Chris

Building a 1/4 Lamborghini
crispy replied to lamboscales's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow, incredible work! Have you looked into R/C tires? You may be able find something in that scale. Those R/C guys are not unlike us modeler's in a sense they may be able to one off some tires for you. Another option is a rubber like resin. I know that some tires in 1/24/25 scale have been done in some sort of black rubber like resin. Windows, what about acetate? Or clear plastic sheets from evergreen or even vacu-forming? That's about all I can add. I hope you'll show us your work as it progresses! IT's a work of art to this point! Chris -
Ismael, I need to see you get that build started so I can get one started! I love the sensuous body design. I have gone back and forth with myself on whether to buy that kit or not. I probably should.... Chris

Alex, not enough words in the English dictionary or the thesaurus to describe what I am looking at. However, on that note, I would like to add that the wheel weights are what set this car off for me. You attention to detail is remarkable! Thank You for sharing this build with us! Chris

I bought that Miura kit myself sometime last year. That has to be one of the best looking Lamborghini's ever built. Now, just to get it built.... Chris -

John, that looks great! I cannot comment on the kit. I own it, but it's not open. However your build looks fantastic. That build would make me want to build one. Great work! Chris
