MPC Mount'n Goat Jeep Commando tailgate
fat50 replied to fat50's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Mark, There are 2 blocks with holes for the pins, I will take a closer look at installing from the inside this evening. I'm so close to wrapping this one up.. I built this kit back in the 80's and don't remember having any issues with the tailgate. -

Hi All, I'm to the point of putting the tailgate on the Jeep, the instructions are no help in this area? anyone have a picture of how the hinge pieces affix to the body? I'm stumped.... Thanks, Chris -
I have a set, DM me your address and i'll get them out to you.

Back in the 80's when I was a bar hoppin' weed smokin' Pootang chasin' wrench turner, i thought I was done building and only wanted to build 1:1 stuff so... I donated all my kits, parts and tools to a "Make A Wish" child that really loved models. I have never regretted it, because I able to help make a dying kid happy for his last days. I'm currently sitting on a couple hundred kits since getting back into the hobby in the 90's. Told the wife that my kids and grandkids get first pick of the stash when I pass, the rest go to "Make A Wish"

No way this thing can be built stock. Says shortened body right on the box. Does say build 1 of 4 ways. Drag, Street, Dune Beetle, or Open Dune Buggy.

Mr Color #68 Red Madder equivalent ?
fat50 replied to fat50's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks Guys! I'll have to Shoot John an email and do a curbside pick up, he isn't open to the public yet, I rode out there last weekend and tugged on the door. I did pick up some MM "Chevrolet Engine Red" that looks close. I'll have to spray up some spoons with the MM, Tamiya, and the Mr. Color and take them out to the USCG station on Belle Isle and compare them to the 1:1 chopper. I'm building a Trumpeter HH-65A Dolphin Helicopter to get me over some automotive funk i've been in. Edit: and I Know plenty of people that have never been on a plane (whatever that was supposed to mean?) -
Does anyone know where I can score some Mr. Color #68 "Red Madder" in the Detroit area? or a shade that is close? Thanks

I use panty hose. Cut into 2" x 2" squares. Get the plus size and it will last you a while. no cleaning it either, strain and throw in the garbage.

Recommended Handle for #11 blades
fat50 replied to Bernard Kron's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I still use the good 'ole X-Acto. I have different color masking tape around the bottom of the handle to identify which is which. and to stop them from rolling, I leveled my hobby table... -
I didn't even know John Candy was a modeler? I was at the '74 Detroit Autorama, good times....

Another vote for the H, I've used the single action H so long, I cant get used to the VL double action. I have both and reach for the H every time.
