  1. Always thought that generation of Willys would make a great kustom.
  2. I know it can be done with painted as well as directly over plastic, but is there a good way to get the tampo printing off the current AMT tires? The lettering on the tires in the version of the Li'l Gasser I bought yesterday is printed with wording that wouldn't work with my intended theme and would like to go to bare sidewalls if possible.
  3. Thanks, don't know if she's done it yet, but she was talking about get one in purple for her Challenger too.
  4. 40, but there were days before I got this desk job I'm at now, that I certainly felt 200 years old!
  5. Picked up a Li'l Gasser that I might consider building in an Ethanol theme instead of gasoline........luckily, some of what's shown for decals can still be used! Then my Kid Sister got me the sun shade for my 200 for my birthday Friday.
  6. It does seem a bit like it was inspired by those two ships, yet it also shows a strong "stealth fighter" influence on top of that, as well as a "hides in plain sight" attitude if it's got the right backdrop on top of it.
  7. This, this right here, Pearl Harbor would be bad enough 75 years later, but in an incident that was this soon and took even more lives was just in horribly bad taste. The death threats against the owner and his employees are equally horrible (makes me wonder if they would be safer on the West Side of Chicago at the moment), as would any attack that might happen to the building the business is in (especially if they're in a strip mall and not a stand alone building!) I really don't feel sorry for the owner, to be honest, who very well may have thought this was a good idea to make and air the ad.
  8. Finished it up today, not my best work, but I am starting with a truck that is intended to be a kids toy, so it's a start at least! and the link to where the rest of the pics are!
  9. Finished a Revell Build and Play Snap Jeep Wrangler tonight, since it's been a while since I've actually finished a build, these work great for trying to re-establish old skills! The "build thread", even though there isn't much there.
  10. Sorry to hear another book store is going the way of the dodo bird.
  11. Well, that mattress ad bit back rather hard! http://finance.yahoo.com/news/texas-mattress-retailer-shuts-down-040323975.html
  12. Thanks Bill, it cost me about $70 if you include the Krackle and Coke I bought to munch on while I waited and the $10 tip I gave the guy, but was worth it after putting 20k on the car did since late March '15 with it only sitting for more than a couple hours while I was at work or at home in bed. To be honest, short of a full on detail job or going further and handling it over to a body shop to fix the body damage that is has received over the last 4 years (scratches on roof, both bumpers and rear bumper insert need replacement, drivers side rear door dent, none of which are mine, and now that white mark over the bumper on the right rear corner that might actually be mine ) and having a whole bunch of extra clear added over the touched up areas and on the still good areas to bring it back up to snuff...................
  13. Took my 200 put for an overdue, yet well deserved wash and wax today.
  14. It did, that's why that pre-production Viper ended up as the Pace Car that year, the UAW raised such a stink about it not being American that Chrysler had to make that switch. Makes me wonder if the Talon would have raised as big a stink, even though it was assembled here in Illinois.
  15. Very nice, has a bit of a "Mild Custom" look look to it!
  16. I wouldn't mind the vinyl top since the '70 Mom and Dad owned had one, but would love to see a 440 6-Pack/4-speed combo offered, since the same '70 was also so equipped.
  17. I heard about that ad on the radio heading into work, how blankity, blanked, blanking stupid do you have to be to cook that ad up!
  18. I picked up one of the Dragon Models kits of that ship, still have no idea when or if I might build it or even how, but I had to get one! Imagine being near an Iceberg field then suddenly this appearing out of it and pointed at you with it's guns at the ready!
  19. Can't speak for HL, but I know Great Planes/Hobbico usually shipped to my HTUs with UPS. It does sound more like an issue with who ever molded and/or packaged the kits though.
  20. I stopped by a HL after work today to get some paints and looked at one of these kits. Didn't mention West Chicago on the packaging, but did have a date from the time period in question stamped on the bottom of the box, plus some damage to the box, so it just got put back on the shelf.
  21. I've kinda gotten out of it after leaving the HTU I worked at, but I was into it pretty big until then.
  22. I actually know somebody who worked for a facility that is next door in St. Charles, but he said they weren't working on them.
  23. I'm wondering if that maybe there was some fast and loose actions with the cooling times and lax QC during that time period when this happened in combination with the hot, humid weather.
  24. That's a possibility, and it was both pretty hot and humid around that time in the Chicagoland area, wonder if the weather could have affected how the plastic cooled. That said, I did do some poking around, we've got a got at least 6 or 7 molding facilities with in a mile from work, punch it out a couple miles more and then it goes up closer to a dozen, all in a mile or so radius from the Dupage County Airport!
