TV cars in kits
Joe Handley replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You know, there's now 2 tv tie ins on Elvira's T-Bird, she took it to Count's Kustoms to get some work done on it a few seasons back on Counting Cars to put clean up, fix up, and just getting into good running shape. Don't know how true the story line was, but supposedly they were all such big fans of her's, they donated their time wrenching on the car to better keep it in her budget. -

Mother, Jugs and Speed
Joe Handley replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You know, I was wondering how much Mother was like the real Cosby instead of the one we thought we knew. -

Could there have been different ligjting laws that required the change have been made back after the movie was over so it could be used on the street when it was still new vs what would be allowed now? -
What did you see on the road today?

Couldn't get a picture, but I just saw a nearly Police Box Blue late model Civic sedan with TARDIS in chrome on the right side of the trunk. -
New distracted driver hazard - Pokemon Go

You don't have to be holding the phone, I've used mine as a GPS and have a suction cup mount to put it in when I am, also works as a hands free device, put it on Speaker and talk towards the phone! -
New distracted driver hazard - Pokemon Go

From what I understand, once the game realizes that you're going that fast, it locks things up so you can really play the features while driving. I was reading on Gizmodo that there are a bunch of people that were either walking or cycling around to find the critters and other stuff, only to exhaust themselves. Apparently the players don't have the stamina to start walking a couple miles or more in one day. -
Can you make it into the city? The Museum of Science and Industry had all sorts of interesting stuff, but you have to go into Downtown Chicago to get to it.

Not sure, I usually tried to say away from that whole area unless going to iHobby or the World of Wheels.
-
I'd have preferred that, these things are ugly.

Two shockingly clean mid 80's FWD Mopars?! A 4 headlight Daytona Turbo Z and a Non-Shelby 4 headlight L-Body Charger! -
It could, use the same basic operating system on everthing (like OBD2), so that all the codes match and the different cars understand what each other are talking about when the info is sent out to advise the rest of the autonomous cars (anf maybe those of us that are still driving) of weather and/or road conditions/obstructions, while each individual car would handle it's own basic needs as it's doing what we need them to do at that moment.

I guess director of the Nursing Home that Mom will be spending a couple weeks at again is buying the family a pizza from the little Italian place just down the road from the home!
-
Looks like Mom will have to go back into a nursing home for a week and a half, and it's going to be one she was in last summer for about a month. The drive will suck.since it's south of 75 in Naperville, but we're at least familiar with the area and know of an Italian place a block from there that makes a fantastic Pizza!

Thanks Ed!

I'll have to find out for you then!

Really?! That's cool!

Last I heard, the taxes on my parents house was around $5k in West Chicago. Could be worse, I know somebody that almost moved into Wayne Township and while she could afford the house, the property tax was beyond reason. They had also been one of those communities that you didn't want to speed through, going all the way back into the early 70's when my parents moved here from Iowa the first time.
-
Hmmm, sounds like where I live in West Chicago, we've been there since '79, although my Sister did live in Carol Stream for a number of years, a few with her now ex-bf, right near the Carol Stream PD. She moved back home several years ago and has a new BF that also is from around here, and not only hispanic, but a really good kid too! CS cost her a bunch of money, which is some of why she's still at home even though her pay had been better than mine had been. Now that Mom has had medical issues, it's been really good that we're still living with Mom and Dad as extra hands, just in case.

The taxpayers need to stop funding sports stadiums!!
Joe Handley replied to HomerS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Please tell me they aren't demanding the city builds them a new stadium, if so, they need ro not let the door hit them on the way out! -
Thanks guys, she's doing better already!

Doesn't seem like it, although I haven't watched the local news over the last couple nights that Mom has been back in the hospital.
