It's in the low 80's in Lombard at the moment, but compared to last week, the humidity is far more bareable!

65° with a slight breez! Please, send that this way ASAP!

The rain we've gotten so far should help, but with what I've learned over the past couple weeks, how you mow makes a difference as well. Some people seem to not be able to afford that, some refuse to spend the money on water the grass needs to keep healthy and fight weeds from taking over.

What do you drive?
Joe Handley replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's a nice little PT, should be the same basic motor as the SRT4 Neon too, should be able to make some silly amounts power with that -
Trust me Bill, I'm feeling it already, my knees ache to the point I was having trouble standing up today.

I'm beat, I think friday, according to my phone, I walked over 12k steps, probably closer to 13k by the time I got home that night. Also drank a bunch of water and Gatorade, which just ended up soaked into my cloths as sweat.

Trust me, many of them really needed it! One thing that amazes me though, people will spend the money to chemically feed and weed their lawn with us, but don't feel the need or desire to water it, then complain how they're not getting results from our products. Also seen a few yards that before starting anything horticultural, I cut out or rip out what ever was back there and start from scratch, things were so overgrown and/or sick.

It's gettig brown here too, been hard to find a lawn that is actually all green even, and those are just our customers!

We've been cooler than that, but the humidity has been horrible, the work shirt I've been wearing has a salt/sweat stain going down quite a ways from the neck!

All but one offer was from the owner of a home I was looking at (including the beer, lol), one offer though was from a neighbor (who I think might have been babysitting) that saw me out there and offered a water up. They guy who offered the beer was just home from work himself and getting ready to work on a few himself as well as hop in his pool. That is true, but it has been bad enough here that the "watch your young people and check up on your elderly" messages have been popping up on the radio, too. That probably helps.

The past few days of working outside, walking around houses in the hot weather seems to bring out the kindness in people. Over the last few days, I've been offered water, pop, and even a beer this evening as I was checking out lawns

New distracted driver hazard - Pokemon Go

You know, I really shouldn't have laughed at that, current job and all........................... -
I was walking around between 2 and 6:30pm today, it was bad, especially when closer to 6:00.

I was out walking in that for a few hours today, went through 3 liters of water, 3 bottles of Gatorade, 2 Protein shakes, and still had a whole bunch of frozen water bottles thawing in the cooler acting as ice as well as water reserves for, well...you know, just in case. I was just dripping on my way back to my 200, then by the time I got back to the office, I nearly had hypothermia!

The A/C in my Chrysler 200, spent half the day following an existing sales rep around to check on customers' lawns and to see if they might have a need for the company's lawn and shrub care service (so far, the answer has been yes, even if they didn't think so, lots of bugs and disease this year!), every time I got in it, the A/C was cranked and every dash vent is pointed at ME!

Global Alien Oreo Conspiracy Theory
Joe Handley replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
This comparison is proof positive. They are both round, flat, IT: Recently, an Oreo was discovered that contained a remarkable likeness of the face seen on Mars. More PROOF. Don't ask me why, but I kinda see the Mona Lisa in that frosting -
TV cars in kits
Joe Handley replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There's one episode of that where George Clooney played a wheel man that drove a black '69 Charger that looked suspiciously like a repainted General Lee without the pushbars. Wouldn't take much for Round 2 to mold that new Snap General Lee kit in black and get that out there, for who ever still remembers the show. -

You know, there's now 2 tv tie ins on Elvira's T-Bird, she took it to Count's Kustoms to get some work done on it a few seasons back on Counting Cars to put clean up, fix up, and just getting into good running shape. Don't know how true the story line was, but supposedly they were all such big fans of her's, they donated their time wrenching on the car to better keep it in her budget. -

Mother, Jugs and Speed
Joe Handley replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You know, I was wondering how much Mother was like the real Cosby instead of the one we thought we knew. -
Started the new job today!

Mother, Jugs and Speed
Joe Handley replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Could there have been different ligjting laws that required the change have been made back after the movie was over so it could be used on the street when it was still new vs what would be allowed now? -
What did you see on the road today?
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Couldn't get a picture, but I just saw a nearly Police Box Blue late model Civic sedan with TARDIS in chrome on the right side of the trunk.
