Hate to say it, but with the condition our roads and bridges are now in, we may need that gas tax just to get us back to where we were 40 years ago.

There might be a good reason you have to ask for your senior discount, Bill. We had gone to Silver Dollar City a number of times until Mom's medical issues got to be too bad and on one visit, Dad had an interesting conversation with a cashier that was nearly as old as he is on the matter. Apparently he had a funny way of asking Dad about wanting his discount and he ended up telling Dad that one time when he came right out and asked a woman who was obviously old enough to get one, she got highly offended and actually raised a stink over it! Sounds like they had to be creative in asking after that.

Topped my 200 off with just plain old 87 octane regular after work tonight at the BP near the store, $1.51 a gallon!

Honestly Harry, our gas taxes have been a joke for a looooong time compared to every other country in the world. I think the federal tax is $.19/gal, as is the Illinois State Gas/Gasahol Tax. Not sure about in DuPage or Kane County, but if you fill up on Cook County, that bumps it a bit more. State tax alone, we're actually cheaper than Iowa ($.21) or Wisconsin ($.32.9?!)! http://www.illinoisgasprices.com/tax_info.aspx
