The Future is Now!
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nah, so long as there are riding mowers, there will still be DUI -
I ran across a Mazda RX8 in a similar situation once a few years back....and on a curve my Jeep can take at 60-70mph when it's got good shocks under it

Seems like that money could have been better spent improving infrastructure, driver's training programs, and public transit as well as curing diseases. -
Back Date 1950 Chevy Pickup to 1949
Joe Handley replied to Brad-M's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Is that the one where they ruined a perfectly good restored truck to make some sort of rat rod -
IIRC that car was in bad shape when they got it too, and all the mods that were done were mild enough the car should be able to be returned to stock pretty easily as well!

Thought or hoped and prayed it was a one of a kind

Awful B-17 crash
Joe Handley replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know what you're talking about Charlie, but I've even seen it with guys well into their 30's (if not now into their 40's!) as well. I don't know if it's a lack of respect for the machine, but I don't think video games have much to do with it either. I've seen plenty of children to grown men over the past decade plus between HTU and TRU who seem to faun over the German WW2 military equipment (all of it from hand held weaponry to vehicles) because of their "superior technology" and in some cases don't have much interest in Allied equipment, even though the Allied forces won the bloody war with that so called "inferior" equipment....kinda sickens me to some degree It is a lack of respect in many ways, but if you look at the way people act and shop for merchandise, as well as for where that merchandise "comes from" now, it's sadly not really a shock -
Awful B-17 crash
Joe Handley replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's kinda what I was thinking too, it would almost be like restoring a '32 Ford from a grill shell, a frame, and a vin number with a stack of Brookfield parts, then claiming it all original Ford. I figured that had an played an immense roll in the plane safely landing, especially once I read about the firetrucks not being able to get to it without getting stuck! -
Awful B-17 crash
Joe Handley replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was talking to a customer that flies for United at work today and he heard that there has already been an aircraft restoration shop that claims they can restore the bird to it's former glory Don't ask me how without pretty much building a whole new plane from scratch or finding a different damaged B-17 that needs some of the surviving parts from this one I keep seeing it refered to as a "crash landing", but other than the fire that consumed the plane after it was safely on the ground, there wasn't even a real crash and it looked like a near picture perfect landing (if you follow the tracks in the field behind the plane to where it burned up)! -
Can't wait to see this one finished!

Hmmm, I love that you did this John, I've been thinking about trying the same thing with a few different types of their paints on the spoons with different primers and in conjunction with the Model Master and Testors lacquers.

I just want to know how that rolling freak show is still allowed on the roads, are Ohio's laws even looser than Illinois? -

I'll look into that, hopefully we have some of that Tamiya Pearl at work! -
Pactra Lacquer over Model Master Lacquer?
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I picked up one of the Lil' Yeller School Bus Show Rods at Tuesday Morning on Monday and was going to try and put the Pactra Pearl White over Model Master's Chrysler Yellow 2 Stage Lacquer. Kinda looking for a School Bus Yellow, but with some pearl to it. Is that blue Pactra's Metallic Blue by chance Marc? -
Has anybody on here tried to spray Pactra's RC lacquer (their pearl white) over any of the Model Master 2 Stage lacquers on styrene before? I've done it (and almost for that I had ) on a lexan body with some success, but is there anything you guys can think if that might be a problem with shooting it on styrene besides needing to clear the livin' snot out of it afterwards?

The cat and muffler for my 1/1 Jeep came in today! Also got a new compressor to keep in my Jeep, the i-Pod is to give an idea of how big it is. And picked these up while I was about too!

That's the one, this actor was the one that played Kirk in the recent Star Trek prequil movie. I'll have to see if there are clips of The General on YouTube tonight. Has anybody ever mentioned the movie "Driver", I'm having a brain fart on that one. It's got a great chase scene between a Trans Am and a supped up C10 stepside.
