  1. It is amazing - the number of nicely built models that show up on the contest tables with wheel/tire misfit issues like the example at right. Instantly kills the "accurate" replication of a vehicle and makes an otherwise fine model look toyish.
  2. Absolutely amazing work!
  3. I have both issues (over-the-counter purchases from my LHS). I'm not a slot racer, but I'm considering subscribing . . . pretty impressive magazine!
  4. Outstanding. And, the MasterCaster/Mike Schnur bodies cannot be beat!!
  5. How do we know the new you is really the old you?

    Nice job!
  7. This is not so bad. It's just new.
  8. Yikes! That IS scary. I suppose it'll be a new genre of horror films. "I Know Who You Called Last Summer!"
  9. 'That door fit' was not uncommon in the earlier days of radical custom modeling. It's one of the ways you can easily identify an original, period-built model as opposed to a more contemporary model. I'm not sure why it happened that way so much, but it seems to me it was a matter of style over substance. Just as most of those early radical customs paid no attention to practicality or real-world function, I guess the builders just didn't concentrate much on details such as oversized or exaggerated door frames, misfitting components, etc. They were just seeking swoopy and wild forms. Later, as more perfection-oriented builders raised the bar ~ even within the radical customs genre ~ these kinds of faux pas faded into oblivion.
  10. Mobile-friendly by default. That's cool. That's progress. Now, I just wish this site could make me mobile-friendly! The biggest thing I don't like about my newest smart-phone is that it seems to be smarter than I.
  11. There have been two "NNL-style" contests in Arizona every year for the past eight years, Aaron. GoodGuys Spring Nationals, 6th Annual Model Car and Pedal Car Contest, March 13-15, 2016, at WestWorld, Scottsdale. GoodGuys Southwest Nationals, 18th Annual Model Car and Pedal Car Contest, November 20-22, 2016, at WestWorld, Scottsdale. No entry fees for either event, unlimited entries. All one has to do is participate.
  12. Many people with your attitude toward "older" people never live long enough to become one.
  13. get a big dog - and skip the alarm. Or, better still . . . a trunk monkey!
  14. You're MUCH better off investing in LoJack than an alarm.
  15. It's human nature. People who are 'irked,' 'annoyed,' or any higher degree of 'angry' tend to ventilate it more. People who are 'happy' or 'pleased' just don't advertise it as much. Nothing to complain about. Complainers are always louder and more noticeable than happy people.
  16. . . . so it isn't just me.
  17. Kudos, Bill & Pete. Well said, and oh, so sadly true!
  18. Glad to see the Caddy, but sorry the '35 Chevy didn't make the cut. I just can't see the need for yet another '50s Ford PU.
  19. Two phunney!!!
  20. Well, I might still give it a shot next time. Thanks
  21. Well, I'm glad to know this . . . I was in LA area Thursday through Saturday for business, and strongly considered staying over Saturday night in order to go to Buena Park for my first time. However, if the mix was 85% military (or thereabouts), I'm glad I didn't waste the time and money. We have enough military flea markets and swap meets around here; I don't need to invest in a CA event for that.
