  1. Expanding Tom's tip (which is a good one; I've been doing this for years): Be sure to label the inside of the spoon with the brand, number, and color. Save the spoon. As you continue to accumulate 'spoon tests,' you'll have a great collection of real-world paint chips. You can accurately pick just the colors you want for future builds from your spoon collection.
  2. Good job.

  14. Superb, Randy! Now, where's the '58 and the '62?
  15. That's what he drives.
  16. What irked me today? Dodging bullets on the freeway.
  17. Amen!! It took two years here for the marrow in my bones to thaw out. I can look at pictures of snow and ice. I don't have any need for or interest in shoveling it, chopping it, chipping it, plowing it, or slipping and sliding on it. Been there, done that. No more. The ONLY drawback is that we don't have any 'snow days' here. I haven't been able to convince any employers to declare 'sun days.'
  18. Excellent builds, as usual, Charlie!
  19. Here's the deal. Brian Wilson was not a 'car guy.' But, he recognized the potential of the 'car song' genre and capitalized on it. He partnered with a couple of friends who were 'car guys' - Roger Christian and Gary Usher - to create all the Beach Boys' car songs. Christian was an L.A. radio deejay at the time. Regarding "Little Deuce Coupe," Wilson wrote the music and Christian provided the lyrics, replete with period-correct So Cal hot rodding buzz words. Between the two of them, with Christian explaining terms to Wilson, they massaged the lyrics to fit the music phrasing. Some compromises were made. Usher played the same role with Wilson in other Beach Boys' tunes. For example, Usher penned the lyrics for "409." An interesting side note: Wilson wanted to write about the hottest new car on the scene. Everybody he knew was ga-ga over the 409-equipped '62 Impala SS. Hence, the song. More interesting was that through the song-writing process, Wilson even sold himself on the 409 Impala SS. As the buckets of "record money" started pouring in, Wilson's first big purchase was to buy his own '62 Impala SS 409 . . . in bright red. (At the same time, brother Dennis Wilson ordered a soon-to-be released '63 Corvette split window coupe in Silver. Brother Carl was too young to drive, so car acquisitions weren't big on his radar at that point.)
  20. Charlie, Different agencies use different variations of codes. 10-7 generally means 'out of service' as in 'off duty' or 'off shift.' Some areas may use it differently. 10-10 was what we used for 'out of service, subject to call,' or, available for emergency, in other words, a temporary break. Other agencies may use it differently. As an example, the three largest agencies in Arizona (Phoenix PD, Arizona Dept Public Safety, Maricopa County Sheriff) use 10-7 to indicate 'out of service.' AZ DPS uses 10-10 as 'out of service but available,' MCSO uses 10-10 to indicate a negative or 'no' response to a query, and Phoenix PD does not use 10-10 at all. Another large agency, Pima County Sheriff's Department, uses 10-7 the same way, 'out of service,' but uses 10-10 to communicate 'fight.' Your mileage may vary. PS: I think in Vegas 10-10 means 'out of chips.'
