  1. Outstanding! I gotta wonder what the Scout driver did to PO the pumper crew!?! ??
  2. RAIN!!!! Real, live, glorious, wonderful, street-soaking, gutters running, wet rain!! It's been such a long time, people around are asking 'what's leaking?' And, I'll take full credit for it! I broke down and watered my lawn and plants Saturday and hand-washed my car Sunday!!! ??
  3. Exactly why I don't bother. I'm no Augie and I don't build Katzenjammer 7s. ??
  4. nonetheless, lovely Studebaker!
  5. BTW, Tim, Beautiful build! And, the cab conversion is excellent!! ??
  6. ROTFLMAO!! ? There you go . . . morph it! Besides, what are the chances the GSL judges would notice the difference between a stock Model A frame and a Z'd one? Or a '34 cab and a legit '31 cab? They'd probably notice if you painted it pearl white with golden flake highlights and lettered it with flip-flop paint and gold leaf instead of plain white and period-correct One Shot lettering. [Hey, Mark. Something just looks . . . off . . . about this Russell Stover replica. Whadddyu think?] ??
  7. Interesting discussion; especially Tim's commentary about the early go/no-go discussions at Round2. I think - and it's just my thought process - a big part of the attraction to the so-called 'run-of-the-mill,' grocery-getter, plain-jane, mainstream, ordinary, 'bread-and-butter' cars is that the model kit industry has been so focused on muscle cars, 2-doors, sports cars, street machines and has thusly glutted the catalogs of available kits with mostly (are nearly all) the same bling-wheeled 2doors. The ROTM, GG, PJ, MS, O, B&B cars offer huge variety and a universe of uncommon build-from-the-box options. Variety is the spice of life. One only has to look as far as the "surprising" popularity of the 1968 Plymouth Police Patrol, 1992 Caprice, 1992 Crown Victoria, Force440/Roscoe/TJHooker/Gotham/Goon 1978 Monaco, and 1970 Ford Interceptor to see some of the roots of the burgeoning interest in the new 1962 Chevy II station wagon kit. Sometimes the road less traveled is the better route choice at the moment. I know I have nearly 2,000 unbuilt kits and the vast majority of them are the 'popular' mainstream selections, and I have little interest in buying more. In fact, completing builds at a pace of 2-3 a year, I may have more than I'll need. But there's ALWAYS a place for new 4-door, station wagon, panel truck, service truck, ambulance, and fire apparatus kits! Just me sayin.' ??
  8. I'm glad Tim said it. I was concerned, too, about your trying to replicate a basically stock Model A from a full-bore hot rod kit and still fly it by the GSL Judges. Not likely. But that's just if you stayed true to the one or the other - your chosen subject -or- the specified "same" kit. It occurs to me, unfortunately, the only 'sameness' between the GSL specified kit and your subject matter is that both have "1929," "Ford," and "Model A" as lineage. PS: Having said all that, I appreciate Tim calling our attention to the 1988 SAE article. I had missed that entirely, and yet it is a subject close to my heart. Now leaving for a deep dive into the Danno Archives. ??

  10. Nice job! I like this color better than the 1:1 was. ??
  11. Very nicely done! Beautiful paint work. (This blue was Darryl's favorite look for the Predicta. Monogram insisted he repaint it red for promotion of the model kit.) ??

  16. Great! Glad to have you return. (And, thanks again for your participation last year.) Be sure to spread the word. We heard several builders say they didn't know about it until registration was over, but they would have entered had they known. We'll try to get the word out to as many as possible this time. Details coming soon! ??
