  1. True dat. But remember, the worst tooled kit of an XKE is better than no kit at all. You still did a very good job with it ~ ~ ~ despite the kit's limitations.
  2. You're looking for the West Routt Fire Protection District, out of Hayden, CO. They have a limited website, but they also have a facebook page ~ you might get some help there. Here's a shot of the rig you're looking at: And a thumbnail of their barn: They have some very interesting apparatus, including several Petes. Good luck.
  3. Yeah, and I'm sworn to secrecy. That's why I can't tell you where it is.
  4. Uh, huh. And, the same usual place too!
  5. It is correct! Saturday, September 29, 2012! We'll see you there.
  6. Wow!! That looks great!! Superb job.
  7. Funny this topic pops up now. I just saw one of these overgrown Transits yesterday in the Surprise/Sun City area ... NW Phoenix Metro area ... not too far from the Ford proving grounds area ... in a caravan of F250s and F350s and Super Duty pickups ... all Ford test vehicles with Michigan Manufacturer license plates and all fully loaded with engineer-types, computers and duct tape & bailing wire. Thought the Transit-On-Steroids didn't look as goofy as the little transits, but when you see it mixed in with F-Biggies, it looks like an F-Biggie with tall bedsides ~ REALLY tall bedsides. Guess that may be its lineage ~ F-BiggyVan. They all looked like they had half-swallowed chrome guardrails ... but I guess that's Ford's styling statement du jour.
  8. I failed to weigh in on this one ... because it looked just like the one I commented about on our local bulletin board. Oh, yeah, ... it is. Well, I still think it's a nice build!
  9. I was at a golf tournament a few years ago. First prize was a week in Cleveland. Second prize was two weeks in Cleveland.
  10. Nice!
  11. Nothing even close. At least not that I've ever known of. I saw that episode. Intriguing fire engine, for sure! I was hoping to see it restored, not hosed.
  12. Nope. Art Anderson's All American Models resin (mastered by Juha Airo) with '53 Studebaker engine, drive train, suspension and various other donor parts. Thanks!!
  13. Well, Niko, since you bring up '56 Commanders ... here's mine: Phantom Kansas Highway Patrol cruiser. I really have to take some new pix of this one.
  14. Beautiful work so far, G! You keep cranking out these homeruns, and I'm gonna have to get back to the bench and finish some projects ~ ~ ~ just to keep up!
  15. Nicely explained, Art. I've been using this technique for a long time, also. It works great on guages, radio faces, even reflectors (remember those), parking lights, turn signals, and many forms of taillights. No decal? Just use the very pointed end of a toothpick to 'pick out' the details of an emblem with paint, let it dry thoroughly, then apply the epoxy over the emblem.
  16. He spoke with forked tongue.
  17. Another nice thing about Purple Power is that you can filter it (strain it through a coffee filter) after each use ... it takes the paint residue and impurieties out ... and continue to reuse the same batch for a long time. It strips paint and chrome. It cleans clear windows. It does all kinds of good things. And when it finally loses its 'power' ... you can dump it down a drain (not the toilet) because it is biodegradable. It truly is the friendliest yet most effective paint stripper for plastic model cars and trucks! Yes, I'm a fan!
  18. What prices haven't gone up?
  19. Nice
  20. I can do this. I have a couple ... Yep. That's what it says ... All for now. Gotta take some pix ... Some in-focus pix ...
