  1. ^ ^ ^ That's right. He's da man. Brad's the creator of the '34 featured in our logo. Don't miss our website: dscV16 The Virtual Venue Model Car Championship
  2. Jason, Matt, Many apologies ~~ I dropped the ball. I failed to follow up the teaser by posting the announcement on this thread. (It was posted to another thread in Contests) Kevin, Steve, Bill, By all means jump in! Join us. It should be fun, but if nothing else, it is the first and perhaps will be groundbreaking! Who doesn't want to be a part of hysterical history? And, Bill: by all means go for it! For you to bring our logo to plastic life would be very flattering! We'd love it! (The illustration does not depict any already existing vehicle in any scale, including 1:1.) Our Art & Graphics Coordinator conjured that up with, I think the notion of some day building one. But he works at a pace slightly faster than I . . . meaning it could be years from our benches. ?
  3. Like all the other model car contests, shows, swap meets, and get-togethers of all varieties, DESERT SCALE CLASSIC 16 was canceled. Nearly all other events announced plans to reschedule in August or September., creating quite a logjam of multiple events on the same or overlapping dates. Scheduling constraints unique to Arizona caused us to face the possibility of having no event at all this year. Then, we hit on an idea . . . if everybody's gonna be quarantined and on lockdown, they can't come to Phoenix. But we figured out how we can take DSC to everybody - no matter where they are! dscV16 The Virtual Venue Model Car Championship
  4. That's nashty!!! Great replica, Curt! ?
  5. Thanks, Misha, Tom. We're just trying to make some lemonade out of all this. -danno
  6. COVID-19 Virus Quarantine? In lockdown? Sheltering at home? Or someone else's home? Don't come to Phoenix. DSC-16 was canceled. We'll come to you! Rising from the ashes . . . dscV16 The Virtual Venue Model Car Championship http://www.dscv16.com/home.html
  7. When the Desert Scale Classic Management Team learned we had to cancel our traditional live Event here in Phoenix, we immediately started brainstorming to come up with a way to keep the show going. But how the heck do you do that in the middle of a pandemic, where we have to hunker down and isolate ourselves for a while? (Not that car modelers mind either hunkering down or isolating.) The fact is, for fifteen years we have all enjoyed the annual gathering of model car crafters known as Desert Scale Classic! Frankly, we were bummed that it was looking like we wouldn't be able to host our Sweet 16Event at all. We considered alternative dates and alternative venues (who knows how long this virus quarantine might go on, or if we would have to cancel yet again?). Then we hit on a somewhat wild and crazy idea – “If we can't count on a live venue, let’s just do DSC in a Virtual Venue, as a Virtual Championship, all online!” All Entries will appear on this website in the dscV16 Virtual Championship Gallery, arranged by category and published as they arrive. Each Entry will be represented in a folio of five to eight digital photo images provided by its builder. Entrants' names will be hidden from view. Entries need not be professionally photographed, or even photographed using an expensive camera and lighting equipment. A decent cell phone camera will do! We will publish some tips and hints right here on the website to help you take good quality photos. But the big question is: "Are you game?" dscV16 Virtual Venue Model Car Championship http://www.dscv16.com/home.html
  8. Don't cry, Mark. Watch for information about our anti-virus plan. Later . . . (today). ?
  9. COVID-19 caused the cancelation of Desert Scale Classic 16. Like the mythical never-say-die bird, the Phoenix . . . We have an anti-virus plan. Announcement this afternoon. - Cactus Car Modelers, Phoenix, AZ
  10. Hey! Those license plates look GREAT!!!! You certainly beat everybody to that little morsel, didn't you, Kurt. Oh, yeah, the truck looks great, too! LOL.
  11. Stay tuned . . . ?
  12. We were very disappointed, too, but the eventuality of the public health risk, both real and perceived, dictated the decision along with the loss of our venue due to the city’s cancellation mandate. But, stay tuned . . . We’re working on a dynamic work-around!
  13. Saturday, 3/14/2020 The Cactus Car Modelers are greatly saddened to announce that DESERT SCALE CLASSIC 16 must be CANCELLED upon the directive from the Phoenix City Manager. The city has suspended all programs, meetings, and activities in its properties, including the Deer Valley Community Center, as a result of the untamed COVID-19 virus. Please stand by for an announcement in the very near future concerning an exciting alternative venue we are working on! We greatly appreciate the fantastic support of all our friends, entrants, participants, sponsors, vendors, and staff. It should go without saying we are truly disappointed, as we enjoy sharing this event with you. But, considerations of the health and safety of all attendees must come first in light of the rising health risk associated with the COVID-19 virus. Sponsors and vendors who have already invested in DSC-16 will be contacted next week with information and options. Thank you for your continuing -- and growing -- enthusiastic support since 2005! 15. Ray, We have no plans to cancel or postpone DSC16, at least NOT AT THIS TIME. We have carefully evaluated the issues and concerns, and we will continuously re-evaluate as things proceed. We are following the CDC, US Government, AZ Dept. of Health Services, and City of Phoenix evaluations and updates; we are taking everything into account and plan to make responsible and carefully considered assessments periodically throughout each day. Three of the major considerations are (1) Arizona has experienced only 9 cases to date, only two of which have occurred in the Phoenix/Maricopa County metro area - with 7.38 million population, it computes to a risk factor of .00012195%, (2) Arizona's official position as expressed by the Governor is that there is currently no indication of need to cancel events or gatherings, and (3) we're still a month away - with room to maneuver if need be. As it stands, DESERT SCALE CLASSIC 16 is ON! In fact, we're on track for an even better event than ever! Check out our website at www.desertscaleclassic.com for details. Certainly, if things change and indicate it is appropriate to do something different, we'll make an announcement at that time. Danno FYI: The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association's 11th Annual Spring Nationals is still scheduled for next weekend, March 20-21-22 in Scottsdale, including the Model Car and Pedal Car Show!
  16. Glad they found what they needed, Tim. Would have been happy to help. Now, when they’re ready to reissue the Aero Chief (Aerial Platform) let me know. I have a nice T514! As firefighters say, “See you at the big one!” -Danno-
  17. Tim, I have several but I'm not sure whether I have any left that are as old as you/Round 2 are looking for. I'll check later today and let you know. PS: I KNOW I don't have any of the limes, because I never touched those . . . real fire trucks are red!!! LOL.
  18. You did NOT hinge that tailgate brake light! OMG. You DID! Wow.
  19. Soon. Patience, Grasshopper! LOL.
  20. Most excellent! No, spectacular!
  21. Very nice!
  22. That is bitchin;!
