Phil, Thanks for your interest and your note. Regarding photo files, I have to defer to our IT Team. As soon as you register your Entries, they will send you a guide that covers the photo image protocols from soup to nuts. It addresses everything, but if they miss something, you can contact them directly (their email address will be included). Regarding documentation for the Replica Category, anything that clearly shows the 1:1 vehicle you replicated is good. It can be magazine articles with pictures, dealer or manufacturer advertisements, brochures, manuals, etc., or, if it is a unique, specific vehicle, photos are good. Go to the website, select the button labeled "The Championship" and scroll down to the Replicas page. There's an Entry that is a replication of a vehicle from the modeler's life. Click on the Documentation button to see how he documented his Entry. Thanks for supporting DSC and dscV16 - The Virtual Venue. Enjoy, and Good Luck! -dan-

I play by the rules. Always. Or, at least almost always. But it irks me that we can't mention a contest . . . or even a Virtual Model Car Championship . . . anywhere but in the "Shows and Contests" topic, and we all know no one goes all the way down to the bottom of the board to look at things there! So, I'll stay within the rules and I won't mention it. Don't get me in trouble. Don't Click Here. :)

Today was supposed to be the 16th Annual DESERT SCALE CLASSIC Model Car Championship in Phoenix, AZ. Until Coronavirus, we’ve never missed a date in more than a decade and a half. But, fearing the travel and gathering restrictions may drag on and on, we decided to not miss this year, either! So we innovated a work-around. A plan that not only ensures another great DSC despite the stay-at-home lockdown, but also enables modelers from anywhere in the world to participate! Our dscV16 - The Virtual Venue Model Car Championship is going strong! There have been over 9,000 visits to our website since we launched it just 4 weeks ago! More than 200 entries so far and there’s still another two weeks before the registration deadline! Beautiful awards for Best of Category, Second Place and Third Place in 29 Adult Categories plus a Youth Category! Master Awards for Best Interior, Best Engine, Best Detail, Best Paint & Finish, and Best of Show. Display Only Category for primer projects, works in progress, or past winners. And, there’s a Virtual Vendor Room where you can shop for kits, parts, supplies, etc., almost like being in our usual vendor room any other year! Plus, take some time to explore the winners and entrants from past years of the live DSC! It’s an amazing project and you don’t want to miss out on this!! Visit NOW. What Tom says. The original release '70 Impala was a fast throw-together for AMT to accompany its early '70s Emergency Vehicle series of kits; the American LaFrance Pumper, ALF Ladder, ALF Snorkel kits, as well as its '70 Ford Police Interceptor kit and the Fire Rescue and Police Van kits. Why an Impala 2dr HT for the Fire Chief? AMT needed a large sedan they could crank out quickly with available molds, and the fact that it was a Chevy counter-balanced the Ford police car kit. Notice that the Ford kit was also not a paragon of accuracy vis-à-vis basic cheapo sedan. And remember, back in the very early '70s, all us 'critics' were either kids or not-yet-kids and we didn't have the internet. Criticism of "inaccurate" kit releases didn't happen. If your town's Fire Chief didn't wheel around in a top-line "luxury" Impala 2dr hardtop, you just assumed somebody's Fire Chief did. You didn't question AMT's ethics, sanity, or genetic lineage.

One of my sons owns/operates an artificial turf & landscaping business - usually busy this time of year, but much slower than usual under the “stay-at-home” mandate however, he started an off-season junk/debris removal operation that has remained active as essential construction projects still need to get rid of stuff. My other son is a commercial construction electrician building a major hospital - busier than before as they work extra hours to accelerate the project to open more rooms faster. Daughter worked from home before but now her travel is curtailed. Not much change overall. I’m a fraud investigator; office at home so not a change there, but most of my clientele is transitioning from office to work-from-home so contracts have dried up for the time being. I’m staying busy filing, refilling, organizing files, reorganizing files, and rearranging the deck chairs. Oh, and launching, organizing, and operating the online DESERT SCALE CLASSIC Virtual Venue Model Car Championship (substitute for the Covid-19 cancelled DSC16. Time on your hands? Check it out: www.dscV16.com. Join us for some stay-at-home modeling activity!

But, Kurt. How do you maintain "proper physical distancing" from yourself?
