  1. Priceless! ?
  2. Tom and Jim are correct. One thing was consistent among early truck manufacturers: bed floors were utilitarian not beauty features. All were delivered in black, planks and hold-down strips alike. As Tom mentions, the trend of “over-restoring” 1:1 trucks — even purported ‘factory fresh’ builds has spread to the modeling world. I cringe any time I see an otherwise painstakingly restored pickup with dance floor finished wood bed and chrome strips. Never happened that way when they we new. Unfortunately, some scale builders google for reference and settle on over-restored examples to guide their “factory stock” models, not knowing any different. I’ve been on the flip side of Tom’s experience. Judged a very nice model lower than the builder expected and he couldn’t believe his beautifully executed, deeply urethaned real wood veneer bed with alcladed strips cost him the win. He argued. But later, he came to us and confessed he did serious research with the restorers club and discovered we were right. ?
  3. Bunch of baloney!
  4. litter or twitter?
  5. Edd “Kookie” Burns
  6. Hi, my man! Cool? What's that? We've finally dropped below 110 degrees for the first time all summer. Hottest summer on record. But, I digress. I'm delighted with your Pierce project! I spent a lot of time with a Dash. I'm following. Hope you've been well, my friend. Dan
  7. Yes, Charley, We're going to grille you on the details! ?
  8. Got mine (last SA) about two weeks ago . . . just as the LHS was unpacking them. Don't ask me why Klambake always seemed to dis the subscribers by supplying their mags to dealers first. Never understood. Never made any sense, doesn't make any sense now. (FYI- I subscribed for many, many years. Only reason I bought the "last" one at LHS is my subscription ran out with the issue before and . . . no, no way I was going to re-up for a magazine that had been killed. Fortunately I procrastinated renewal just long enough to find out it there would be nothing to renew.) ?
  9. Wow! Just wow! That’s a great.job.
  10. Oh, I know that. My post was a joke, too. ? ?
  11. What's your point? It looks just like my last three. They don't look that fancy, but they work!! ?
  12. Shhh! With Skipper.
  13. Yep. Starbird built it pearl white, but Monogram believed it needed to yellow or red for better marketing impact. They decided hobby shelves were saturated with red stuff, so, they made all the artwork yellow and molded the kit in yellow. The 1:1 was never yellow. ?
  14. I have an HP printer, and George is right: the printers cost nearly nothing, but the ink cartridges are expensive. Especially when you buy the printer manufacturer's brand of ink cartridges, which of course they recommend. In fact, some of the printers won't work with off-brand cartridges. It's the little embedded chips that tell your printer whether you are using the "real deal" or not. Having said that, I found a brand of "aftermarket" ink cartridges on Amazon that work just fine with my HP for like cheap! In fact, a set - three colors and both black cartridges - costs about the same as a single color with the magic HP brand. It's Miss Deer High Performance Ink. No kidding. Miss Deer . . . that's the brand name. Best of all, when I put in a Miss Deer cartridge, I get a message from the printer thanking me for using a genuine HP ink cartridge. You, bet, Red Rover. Glad to buy the best!
  15. In fact, This the one you're thinking of? ?
  16. Monogram's "Futurista," modeled after the 1:1 built for Monogram by Darryl Starbird. It was only released once, in '65, I think.
  17. Wow, Dwayne. Just WOW! Outstanding job as usual. Cannot wait for mine. Your master work is superb; Greg’s castings are exceptional; Mike’s finessing of the details and glass work is beyond reproach; altogether the team’s productions are the class of all classes! Danno ?
  18. I just didn't recall seeing any recent posts . . . but then, I'm not entirely here, either! I have no room to talk. Glad to see you're still around and slinging plastic. Got any new Studey projects? ? LOL. ?
  19. Not likely. As John ^ said, that's part of what the 'easement' is for . . . improvements, etc. Many localities don't have a specified distance from curb to sidewalk, but remember, if yours does, they can just change it. They're the ones who made it, they can change it. ?
