  1. Believe that's a typo, Don. You added ... basswood, perhaps? ... blocks for the hinges? This is a great build up & fun w.i.p.; thanks for sharing it!
  2. I might as well join this one, too! I'm already signed up for a couple other community builds, but this one allows enough time for even me!! LOL. I'll do two: Pete 359 tractor with Lowboy trailer. ALF Eagle pumper. Pix to follow.
  3. Ken, do you know the kit numbers for the second round of kits?
  4. The scrap yard is the kindest destiny for those "designs" that I can think of. Yikes!
  5. Whoa!
  6. Nice! Love the 8-track ... great job on the bracket! Aces!!
  7. Wull, ... I guess he meant they both look ... uh ... furrin'!
  8. That's a decent phantom design; too bad JF's execution leaves a bit to be desired.
  9. That's neat, although I think the Model A radiator shell is a little awkward on a later-generation Chevy truck. But, hey, I don't have any better suggestions, either.
  10. Cutting a window in the torque tube would destroy its structural rigidity and compromise the strength and geometry of the entire drivetrain and chassis. But, hey! It's a model; it won't run without spark plug wires and fuel lines or linkage anyway! Nice looking curbside overall. Love the suede green.
  11. Wow! That'll grab ya! NICE build.
  12. Nice, as usual, Tim! You create and finish a new rig in about the same amount of time it takes me to conceptualize a build; someday I'll get fast enough to get the engine halves glued together, too! LOL. Great stuff!
  13. I wasn't aware there were three versions ... I've only ever seen the two and I have them both (#5000 and #5001). Are the 'all blue' and the 'blue and white' one and the same?
  14. That is one studly bike! I wood like to see it in the cellulose. I woodn't want to ride it ~~~ seems like it might not handle well, might lumber too much to be lithe. But enough motor, so you could really nail it!
  15. Model. Real bikers always get the directional tires pointed in the right direction.
  16. I've given that some thought, myself, Aaron. I haven't tried it yet, but an old body might be a great practice canvas. Here's what occurred to me: After finishing the body (including BMF and decals ~~~ I hadn't considered decals, but it might work), dust a light coat of clear over all. After the light clear coat has dried, lay a heavier clear coat on and before it can dry, run a stiff bristled plastic brush along the side of the car from front to rear. I'm thinking a plucked brush, with only a few random bristles left intact. Repeat for the other side. The brush I envision is one of those cheapies with coarse, stiff plastic bristles like a cheap hand broom, etc. By pulling some of the bristles, you could make the scrapes randomly spaced and irregular so it doesn't look like you just ran a saw down the side of the model. As I said, I don't know how well it would work as I haven't tried it yet, but I've been trying to conjure up a process for some time and this seemed the most likely to produce the desired effect without cutting all the way through the finish to bare plastic. IF you try it, let us know how well it works ... or doesn't. Good luck!
  17. Looking great, Lyle! Keep it comin'! It's good to see you on the board again, too.
  18. Well, that pretty much answers that!
  19. LOL. Nothing I wouldn't ... and haven't ... said to Gregg in person. But it helps that we're pots and kettles ... can't call each other black without calling ourselves out ... and, I can't point a finger at him without four of 'em pointing back at me. That's why they call me the Unfinished Model King!
