A good chance in the 'Bloodless, Sweatless, and Tearless' category!! 'Course, if it doesn't place, it would be . . . the . . . pits.

Raoul's production is always top-shelf, and he wreaks havoc on the other members of the club in our monthly contests. These are all beautiful models! As usual. Can't wait to see what 2016 brings.

Try 'Watters' World.' Today's 'Jaywalking' and, yes, those people are really that stupid. It is more than scary. And, as a result of my career field of endeavor, I can attest. Yep. There's lots, and lots, and lots of those peeps toting their own signs. And, many of them vote.

"Gary Meadors, founder and chairman of the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, died Sunday of natural causes. He was 76. Driven by his passion for family, hot rods, cool cars and good people, Meadors touched the lives of millions of car enthusiasts with his vision and enthusiasm for all things automotive. With his high school sweetheart and wife of over 50 years Marilyn riding shotgun, Meadors founded Goodguys in 1983 in Northern California then branched out to stage a national series of hot rod and custom car events beginning in 1987. What started as a passion-based idea blossomed into one of America’s premier automotive event production companies in Goodguys. Today, Goodguys Rod & Custom Association has a worldwide membership of over 70,000 people, and promotes 21 hot rod and custom car events that attract millions of visitors each year. The Goodguys Gazette, the official magazine of Goodguys was first published by Meadors in 1989." -- Good Guys Rod & Custom Association Gary Meadors was a big supporter of the model car hobby. Many of the Good Guys events feature model car shows/contests that have always received the enthusiastic encouragement of the Good Guys organization, from the top down. In the early 2000s, Mr. Meadors forged an alliance with Revell that brought free Make-n-Take promotions to Good Guys events around the country. Thousands of new builders, under the age of 12, have been introduced to the hobby through Good Guys. In my years with the Good Guys organization, I found Mr. Meadors to be an avid fan of the model car shows. He visited the displays and made known his appreciation of the work involved, both in the workmanship of the entries and in the efforts of the volunteers who put on the model car events. The model car hobby has always been a valued component at the Good Guys events, inspired by his example.

Pontiac probably drew up the finest "custom" version ever done of the '61 Poncho's rear elevations. And, I can't recall anyone doing anything to improve the front end, other than replacing the headlamps with a pair of oval-rectangular Cibie headlamps and the grille with a fine horizontal tube grille. Major body mods? Why?

Informal question re: Christmas gifts to one's self

And there, right there, is the moment at which the entire topic veered wildly off course into the weeds. I just hope a moderator doesn't see what you've done there! -
Outstanding!

Wow. Trailer looks GREAT! But why did you go to the trouble to scratch build that Lone Star when Moebius makes such a dynamite kit? -
No problem with posting your question here, Chris! I can answer your questions and anyone else can listen in . . . they might have the same questions!! First things - yeah, my IM is full and I haven't had a chance since discovering it to delete anything. I'll get that fixed shortly. Regarding Desert Scale Classic: Yes, most classes are limited to 1/24-1/25 scale. We have a "Large Scale" Class (A25) for 1/23 and larger, and a "Small Scale" Class (A24) for 1/26 and smaller. There are a few classes that accept all scales: Motorcycles (A26), Modified Die Cast (A27), Miscellaneous (A28) and Dioramas (A29). And, new for DSC12 (2016) will be two classes for functional slot cars - more on that later. You are correct: 1/16 builds go into "Large Scale" regardless of subject matter (with the three exceptions listed above). You'll note that the rules indicate all classes A1 through A23 are limited to 1/24-1/25 only. Sponsoring a Class (trophy package) is as simple as letting me know. Each class has three trophies (1st, 2nd, and 3rd places) and sponsorship for each class package is $35.00. I'll shoot you a list of classes available; with the exception of a few sustaining sponsorships, trophy packages are on a first-come, first-served basis. Yep, the Final Countdown is on! We really, really want to see the finished product on the table this year. WE HAVE SOME EXCITING THINGS IN STORE THIS YEAR . . . refinements and evolutionary improvements, we hope!

And, R2D2 makes a BIG come-back. No spoilers from me, but the new one does a masterful job of weaving the original cast and story in and out of the new story . . . and integrates the new cast superbly with the original story. Great story. One of the best movies in a long, long time (or from far, far away). Certainly one of the best sequels/follow-ups. As an aside, we had the privilege and thrill of taking our 8-year-old grandson to see it today. He was totally enthralled and completely mesmerized. Just like his dad was 34+- years ago when we took him to see the original Star Wars - when he was the same age. Life is glorious!!
