Great weathering! It's going to be a cool little truck when it's finished -
Favorite Classic Truck?
mchook replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My favorite "classic" trucks that I've owned are my 23 67 79 Fords (some old pics of them). Of course when I owned the 67 and 79 they weren't classics, just old trucks. The only one we have left is the 23. I really like 53-55 Internationals, 34 Dodge and of course 56 Fords. Really too many to pick just one. -
Not really a model but it will be. I got this from the same friend (Bill, my dads friend) that gave me that box of models last week. It's funny, this was mine when I was a kid. I got it new in 78 and had it until my parents moved in 1990. I gave it to Bill back then knowing he collected Hess trucks. Now he's getting rid of a lot of his stuff and stopped by to return it. I asked if he was sure about giving it back because I'll probably just end up cutting it up and making something else out of it. He just laughed and said it's yours again, do whatever you want with it.

What was your first truck model?
mchook replied to Mike77's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My first big truck was the Junkyard Dog Mack. I bought it new when I was a kid, built it and ended up trading it to a friend. When he passed away a few years ago I ended up with all his models and he still had the old Mack. It's a horrible build but I was youngish back then. -
It's been a while but I'm back at it. I repainted the trailer white because my decals are on clear paper. I started putting a top together and added an old sun roof from the parts box to let some light in. I also tried to make a Jack bottle from a piece of square stock, didn't come out too bad so I'll try and make a few more.

Everything is looking great! Those pins you made look good but they should be white, they're porcelain. The box on the back of the firewall is the coilbox. Here's a few pics of a coilbox from a 1919 that I have to rebuild for my father. This box is metal and a little different than a 1913, the box on yours would be all wood but still works the same. The top 4 pins have wires going to the commutator, the middle 4 go to the plugs and one bottom one goes to the magneto and the other to the battery or switch if it doesn't have a battery.

Great looking build so far David. I want to get one of these ICM kits, they look nice. It's nice to see one built stock. I love driving my fathers 23. Like anything, once you know what to do it's not too bad.

Another Cooter's Tow Truck
mchook replied to mchook's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The MPC 72 Chevy Racer's Wedge or AMT 72 Chevy Coca Cola trucks will work. You just need to remove all the side trim. -

Hi Zack, sorry but there is no WIP for this one but here is one of my other Cooter's wrecker WIP. Thanks Nathan! -
Who doesn't love a mock-up? Let's see yours!
mchook replied to Belairconvertable's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's too cool Tom! Is that a widened Milk Trike kit? Great way to reinvent a kit. I'm working on one now too, I turned mine into a C cab. If you want check it out
