No one will come close to the folks at Modelhaus. Both people were great to deal with, went out of their way to help and also at times even redid a part for you if the outcome was questionable. However they focused primarily on dealer promo merchandise and on factory stock. You seem to want to go in another direction which is drag and pro-stock, nothing that would interest me at all. Two important suggestions for you...One set accurate and reasonable delivery times. Don't promise 7-10 days when that turns into 30 or more. And if something goes awry, notify the customer IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. Nothing worse than being treated like a second class citizen, and having to wonder and guess what is going on. If you are going to do wheels, some factory style wire wheel caps or factory accurate wheel covers in chrome 1/25 scale would be really nice. A lot, but not all like me take high performance model kits like an Olds 442 and turn it into a full blown Cutlass Supreme. Having accurate wheel covers or wire caps of the era would be really nice as it would complete the model perfectly. And two and probably most important, don't price yourself out of the club. Modelhaus was price positioned perfectly for what you got and what they did. I have only seen one other resin company come close to Modelhaus quality and they too are a pleasure to deal with. The flip side is that there are a lot of fly by night castors out there with extremely questionable quality, and even worse business ethics. Just some thoughts but who I am to criticize !!

What cars interest you in resin 1/25
American 185 Heavy replied to 5.0man's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
This question seems to be asked at leas once every 6 months. NO one ever does what we suggest but here it goes again. Any full size car from the late 70's or early 80's would be nice. Like a Delta 88 Royale sedan, Buick Electra or Park Ave. or even a LeSabre. They were very popular automobiles and daily drivers that sold well. Even an 80's Town Car would be nice. I don't know if I speak alone or for others, but I for one have been Pony carred out. Enough with the Mustangs, Firebirds, Camaros etc,. not everyone's jaw drops insanely when yet another is released. Same goes for me with the Chevelle. Took Revell almost a decade to realize that the G-Body of the 80's Oldsmobile has a following. Have both and proudly made a Cutlass Supreme and Supreme Brougham out of each. Now if only a Regal or Regal Limited would come to market.!!!! -
Now that is absolutely gorgeous !! A true work of art. Excellent color choice as well !!

Could not agree with you more !! Does make for hysterical reading though, as if they are on the dealers lot and actually kicking the tires, picking the car apart but not admitting they could not afford the tires nor the insurance on the actual car. And taking home handfuls of brochures to dream and criticize Ford for all the glaring errors they made in the design of the automobile. I have an actual dealer promo of one, will I tear it apart and modify it because the ash tray is a 99th degree off etc., absolutely not. It is in brand new condition, a nice piece in my collection and will not tamper with the value of this model. The old saying is 'Leave well enough alone'. Besides, they are models for admiring and displaying, not actual driving !!!

Ahh the site expert. Every one of these sites seems to have a website guru. Forgive the rest of us for relisting something you may have discussed 10 years ago !! -
MPC/Round 2 - Pony Express is back from the grave!
American 185 Heavy replied to Faust's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
A very disappointing reboot of a once nice model. (Pinto Pony Express). Way too much flash on this model, and pieces don't always fit correctly either. And the areas to be cut out for portholes and roof skylights bleeds through regardless of how well sanded, primed, and painted. And mine was molded in an absolute awful silver gray which is insane. Save yourself money, and avoid this kit. Spent way too much time fixing mistakes and was still disappointed with the end result. Not one of their better jobs. -
The Beetle is just superb !! Really stands out in black. That is a color I have never had luck with so I avoid it. Bravo !!

Working with photo etching
American 185 Heavy posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Is there an easy way of applying small photo etched parts specifically nomenclature and ornaments on a body side of a model without pulling your hair out ?? The small stuff like trunk lock bezels and tiny dash parts always give me a nightmare. Don't want to ruin the paint job or the part as the model would be incomplete to me without. Thank you in advance !! -
Now that is gorgeous. In my opinion, the last time Cadillac had a true car. After this, they lost there way and are a complete mess now. Awesome color choice, looks so real...

I don't see anything 'Chrysler' at all, but for sure interesting

They look fantastic and realistic as is !! Leave well enough alone !!

Learned this decades ago.....'LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE' !!! The color is stunning and looks perfect, move on to the next thing !!!

Outstanding job. Looks like the real thing. Great color choice and your attention to detail is amazing. One of my high school teachers had one of these in this color. The car was stand out as is your model !!

Absolutely gorgeous. Your attention to detail is outstanding. What wsw tires did you get to fit ?? The chrome wheels on this model are strange, and am wondering what you used...

Clearly Scale
American 185 Heavy replied to 66belair's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Clearly Scale is so so as far as a business. I ordered things from him once about two years ago, before his illness. Communication from him was pathetic at best, and had to get PayPal involved when 3 months went by with no response from him. All of a sudden he woke up and got indignant. I found what I needed on ebay and never bothered with him again. Not worth the aggravation. -
Beautiful build and color choice. Looks very real. Your others are nice too, but am not a Dodge fan, but the Oldsmobile line always had a soft spot in my heart !!

1977 1978 1979 Thunderbird progress
American 185 Heavy replied to Paul Hettick's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow incredible start !! This is one kit the manufacturer's and resin castors missed the boat on. A lot of people admired this model of Thunderbird and would love it in their collection. I had a 79 like in the picture you have, but mime was Pastel Chamois with a cordovan top and interior. 302 V-8. One of the best cars I ever owned. Road like a dream, and turned heads everywhere I went. Those were the days when cars were cars, and had style and class. -
1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible ex442
American 185 Heavy replied to Reuhkapelti2's topic in Model Cars
Great build and excellent color choice !! Nice to see another soul not mesmerized by the 442 or Hurst. My neighbor had one in a similar color in the early 70's. Was an incredible car -
Not to seem silly, but I just ordered the 69 300 4dr. from AirTrax, and what did you use for the chassis, the charger chassis or something else ??
-
Looking forward to seeing the completed product !! Your builds are always great, and of awesome mainstream cars !!!!

Nice, but what this has to do with scale model cars is beyond me..

News of Revell molding preparing in US
American 185 Heavy replied to Jon Cole's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Guess guess then grumble grumble. The reality here is this hobby is going the way of the rotary telephone. From a once thriving hobby with lots of outlets and countless kits from countless manufacturers when I was a teen ager, it has shrunk to what it now is and still shrinking. I say in 5-10 years if you can't buy this stuff on ebay, you will be dealing with resin only. This is the end of an era. Many hobby shops are gone, hey even Modelhaus probably saw the writing on the wall and folded up as well. It is what it is and is not going to change. -
It would be so nice to see some Land Yachts from, the 70's and early 80's. I am so sick of seeing builds of Mustangs, Firebirds, Camaros and Cudas. The USA built more cars than just those 4, and a lot of us could have cared less about the Pony Cars Anyway. Give me a 75-79 Grand Marquis or Colony Park, a nice Lincoln Towne Car or Coupe or and early 80's Delta 88 sedan or coupe. Cars that the average American drove daily or our parents etc. Now that Revell has a new owner we can only hope he pays attention to older customers and loyal customers like myself and others, and asks us what we would like to see. The regular Gran Torino kit was long over due, but now follow it up with an Elite !!! 3 kits I would kill for is a 77-79 Thunderbird, any year New Yorker 5th Ave, and the ultimate a 68 Mercury Park Lane Brougham sedan like the one Jack Lord use on Hawaii Five-O. We have had all other cop cars except this one. Long over due I feel, great tribute and would sell like wildfire I feel......
