  1. HTUSA had a sign on the rack suggesting regular Mr Color thinner for brushing and the Self-Leveling Thinner for air brushing. I'll probably try some myself.
  2. The Hobbytown USA in Tulsa OK has a brand new rack of GSI Creos solvent based paints. What are they like and how do they compare to others like Testors and Humbrol or acrylics like Tamiya? I would like to buy some but I want to know what I'm getting into first.
  3. Same here...Bellissimo!!!
  4. The MCMA in Dallas used to have a "Modified Out of Box" class for just that.
  5. You haven't seen it before because it is a new release from Bandit Resins. It has only been available for about two weeks and I've only had mine for a week.
  6. My wife finally asked me the other day if I was a model builder or a model kit collector.
  7. Here's a sneak peek of my rear end treatment. Shaved the emblems and painted matt black. Fun is what it's all about!
  8. I finished the bodywork during the weekend and now the Barracuda is feeling a little bit grey, Light Grey Metallic from Testors that is. Five coats of Testors Model Master Lacquer with two light coats of Tamiya TS-13 Clear for now. I'm contemplating adding the black side stripes found in the AMT '69 Barracuda kit, so I'll finish the clear later. The six pack hood is finished in Tamiya TS-6 Matt Black. Now on to the interior and powerplant while I wait to finish the paint. Marc @ MPC Motorsports
  9. Good to see you are about to finish this one up. I thought for awhile you were giving up the hobby to spend more time with your family. Did you go to Heartland?
  10. Bitchin!!! Probably the BEST looking AMT '36 Ford I've ever seen. What kit gave up the wheels and tires?
  11. These two plus the Hemi Dart may be the summer trifecta.
  12. A little more progress to report. Body has been smoothed and ready for more primer. Fuel filler removed for custom part and wheels mounted on axles. Should be ready for paint this weekend. More to come... Marc @ MPC Motorsports
  13. Update... [source: Chevrolet Facebook] 2010-06-10 DETROIT -- Today's emotional debate over a poorly worded memo on our use of the Chevrolet brand is a good reminder of how passionately people feel about Chevrolet. It is a passion we share and one we do not take for granted. We love Chevy. In no way are we discouraging customers or fans from using the name. We deeply appreciate the emotional connections that millions of people have for Chevrolet and its products. In global markets, we are establishing a significant presence for Chevrolet, and need to move toward a consistent brand name for advertising and marketing purposes. The memo in question was one step in that process. We hope people around the world will continue to fall in love with Chevrolets and smile when they call their favorite car, truck or crossover "Chevy."
  14. They're close. Al's been real busy with his "real" job so resin casting has taken a temporary back seat.
  15. Front tires are from a Revell tuner kit. I removed about a quarter of an inch of the back side of the wheels to match the width of the new tires. The Revell tires are shorter and narrower.
  16. The wheels and tires are from Aoshima. They sell wheel and tire sets separately. These are Racing Hart Type CR's that most likely came in one of their JDM tuner or drift car kits. Some US hobby shops sell these but they can be ordered from Hobby Link Japan or Hobby World Japan and other online hobby sources.
  17. I shot a lite coat of Tamiya primer on the Barracuda to assist me in the body work. Also picked out some wheels and tires. All the emblems and side markers will be shaved MPC Motorsports style. Wheels are 19" Aoshima Racing Hart Type CR's with Revell tuner tires in the front. These wheels came with a dark gunmetal finish and will compliment the silver metallic finish I have planned for it. Hope you enjoy and stay tuned for more updates. Marc @ MPC Motorsports
  18. Beautiful build Mike!
  19. Bandit Resin is very clean. No worries here.
  20. I got this in the mail today from Bandit Resins. Body, interior tub, rear valance from 1969 annual and vacformed glass. It's going for a bath in Bleche White in preparation for a coat of primer. I already had the Bandit Resin six pack hood. The next time you see this one it will be painted. Marc @ MPC Motorsports
  21. There are some Canadian members of this forum that trade at Randy's hobby shop. Perhaps one of them can get a phone number for the shop and you could talk to him directly. Just a thought...
  22. The Camaro has a heartbeat! An AMT Guldstrand Corvette surrendered its LT-5 engine and transmission. I had to take some liberties with the chassis to get everything to fit. Yet another reason I love building vintage metal axle kits. Once I'm satisfied with the fit, I'll disassemble the engine, strip the chrome plating, and break out the metalizer paints. Enjoy!!! Marc @ MPC Motorsports
  23. The Bright Platinum is the front runner right now. I'll use the Light Grey on my Bandit Resin '69 Barracuda notchback coupe when I get it. The LT-5 engine is very unique and one you rarely see used in 1:1. I think it fits the pro touring theme just fine and will give the Camaro a "euro feel". I should be able to mock it up this weekend.
  24. I've been testing paint colors for the Camaro. I've abandoned the idea of a red Camaro and these two are the front runners for now. The one on the left is Testors Lacquer Bright Platinum Metallic and the other is Testors Lacquer Light Grey Metallic. I have some Tamiya Gunmetal Metallics and a bottle of Black Gold/House of Kolor Galaxy Grey but I like these two and I'm all for the simplicity of the rattle cans right now. Regardless of the color, it will get a black nose stripe. Here's another pic without the spoons. This is real close to the final stance. Stance is one of the variables on a pro touring build that must be spot on. Enjoy!!! Marc @ MPC Motorsports
