Whatcha gonna use for knobs?
Have you got some gauge decals for this one? I'll bet there's a couple more of us could use some. My '64 GP being one of them! Haha
It sorta shows how things were done back in the day. Being as well built as it is, I would probably shine it up and display it as is. A couple years ago, I bought a built up Trans-Am off eBay to use for parts. Got it REAL cheap! When it arrived, I saw it was in better shape than the one I was gonna use it for. It now lives in the display case, and the other one still isn't fixed!
I actually did something similar to this method. I was able to get a very small flat blade screwdriver under the head of the screw. I put just enough pressure on the gas tank to get some lift on the screw. Another screwdriver backed the screw out enough to grab it with the small pliers.
These are all great tips, and I'm sure I will use them on a future rebuild. Thanks, guys!!
I finally got it out far enough to grab it with my small pliers. Chassis wasn't glued. There was a lot of built up styrene dust in the threads on both screws. They may have been in there for around 50 years. That probably didn't have anything to do with 'em being stripped, though. LoL
just a bit curious to find out how you guys get these screws out, when they seem to be stripped. I finally got one out, but the other one is just spinning in the hole!! LOL
i know of a couple methods, but those would require the use of a claw hammer, or a pair of vice grips.
This '68 Coronet gluebomb is too delicate for that!
I got these in over the past few days:
MPC 1968 DODGE Coronet convertible:
The only thing missing, other than the windshield frame and 'glass', is the hood.
Jo-Han 1964 Chrysler 300 convertible:
The windshield post wasn't broken in the listing pics on eBay, but when I took it out of the box, this is what I found. seller was kind enough to give a partial refund.
I also got this nice promo:
1957 OLDS 98:
This sink mark is the worst thing about it:
I got in two of my "Holy Grail" projects.
Jo-Han 1964 Chrysler 300 convertible:
MPC 1968 DODGE Coronet convertible:
Both need work, and have missing parts, but I've been after these for many moons!!
Well...I had been on a pretty good roll, lately, but I have a feeling it's about to come to a halt! LoL
I thought I had an idea about this one, but I'm not finding anything close. Hahaha
I have a few MPC Dodge pickup kits that I'll mix and match for a couple complete builds. I recently grabbed an AMT '67 Impala kit in order to build the incomplete AMT '69 Impala kit in the stash.
I just scored one of my many holy grail kits off eBay. When it arrives, I'll post the pics. It's a rebuilder, and not 100% complete, and I probably paid too much, but I've been trying to get one for something like 20 years! Stay tuned, Earthlings!!
Over the past couple days, I "watched" a 1971 Dodge Demon built-up get parted out. Every piece sold, and the total, before shipping was somewhere around $160.00. I didn't check to see if the same bidder got all the parts, but there were several bidders involved.
I don't see a problem with mentioning another site. I've been around here for a long time, and I started a ProBoards forum back in 2011. It will never be as large as this one, and I don't consider it as competition. I even have a section where members can post links to other forums. There are a few members here that are members of my forum, as well. You never know where you'll find that one tip that will help you become a better modeler.
