  1. I did build one, but I used the chassis from the kit, with a few mods. Not nearly a great job, as I turned it into a tubbed pro-street type! (Don't know what I was thinkin'!)
  2. Incredible pickup!! Very realistic looking!
  3. Nicely done! The blue looks right at home in the black Comet. I tried to buy a new '74 Grand Prix that was black with a blue interior, but the bank didn't want me to!! LOL It also looked great with the blue interior!
  4. When I sprayed the clear, I had two cans. The first can laid down fairly smooth, but I ran out. I opened the new can....waited the 20 minutes as recommended on the label, and then sprayed the next coat. That's when the grainy problem showed up.
  5. Right!! Don't want anybody stealing the 'Secret Formula'!
  6. My bin even has some old MPC custom parts in it, too!
  7. Looks like too much extra time on their hands!!
  8. I have a "Parts Bin" that is holding SEVERAL of those AMT parts! Building the 3-in-1 kits will fill up a bin for ya!!
  9. This is the first time I've had it do that. It usually lays down great for me.
  10. I may do some joking around about the Coca Cola stuff, but the re-issues are certainly welcome to a lot of model builders, for various reasons. Some for nostalgia...some so they can build umpteen versions of the same kit...some so they can build a certain kit for a friend or family member. I have some older issues of Coca Cola kits in the stash, that just might be built without the Coke stuff on them. One is a '57 Chevy, and I have the old Chevy pickup kit that won't be built with the Coke stuff, as I have already been there, done that!
  11. Well...it happened to me! I shot TESTORS One Coat Wet Look Clear over Tamiya color coats. It didn't exactly orange peel, but it almost looks like it has tiny sand particles in it. The body was super clean and smooth when I started spraying. It is shiny, but not very smooth. How long should I wait before attempting to wet sand the grain out of it?
  12. Tell the truth, Steve.....these are all models you've built....right??
  13. That's right...you could try foiling one during your pit stops. Keep the old adrenaline pumping during the lull between laps!! (BTW...should an older modeler attempt foiling a '58 Impala if he has a pacemaker in his chest?)
  14. Great looking results! Did the teardrop on the hood come from the T-bolt kit?
  15. Haven't done much in the last few days. Trying to clear the bench of two other projects that are closer to the finish line. Hopefully, I can get back to the Puma later next week. I appreciate your interest in this project.
  16. That's understandable. I mean....$39,999.00 for a 1989 JEEP?? C'mon, folks!! LOL
  17. I built this one to while away the hours waiting on paint to dry on other projects, and on days when it was raining around here: This one has the pearl white paint. I didn't foil the trim, and some of it is kind of out of register, anyway. I don't remember having trouble with the engine fit. I have 6 more of these Dodges, in hardtop and droptop form. Plenty projects for rainy days!!
  18. Where did you find the decals? I have a rebuilder I'd like to tackle, someday.
  19. I have several different brands of clear coat on hand, including DupliColor clear, but the one I don't have right now is Tamiya. I was kinda wanting to use what I have, if it would work. I'll definitely paint a couple spoons and then shoot some clear on them before I aim it at the build I'm attempting to finish! HAHA It never hurts to check around here, to see if anyone else has past experience with such things.
  20. Can the Wet Look Clear be used over Tamiya paint?
  21. Could it be that most of the paint companies would have a hard time scaling down the flakes for 1/24-1/25 builds? I've not used any of the aftermarket paints, as I have just recently acquired some airbrush equipment, so the only reference I have to this point are the great pics I see on the forums. The aftermarket paints really do look amazingly close to a factory metallic. I have used TESTORS One Coat, and the other metallics and metal flakes since the 60's. I also know that Duplicolor has a wide variety of factory colors available, but aren't the flakes in the is meant for the 1:1 auto world? When I get my new paint area set up, I'll get busy practicing with the Paasche and Badger airbrushes, and the oriental knock-offs that found their way into my mailbox! LOL As far as metallic model paints go, how about the different types of nail polish that builders are using for customs? I've seen some really sharp paintjobs at the shows that came right out of the beauty section of the local "big store"!
  22. Does your microwave have a turntable?
