  1. Looks great, nice job!
  2. Very well done. Something odd about an OD firetruck........
  3. Excellent work. Did you do the mirror brackets from scratch?
  4. I'd go with the 0.010, thin. Back in the day, those interiors had to be thin for weight and it wasn't uncommon to see indents where they were attached to the ribs. Most were covered with shag rug anyway and with blacklights etc no one cared.
  5. Very well done. How did you get the windshield gasket line so clean? (Where it meets the body color)
  6. Umm, I'll just echo all the comments so far. I'm just amazed......and speechless.......
  7. I wasn't really aware of the Paystar 5000 width during my Brockway build until after I had the front tires mounted and went to set the cab. I took the quick way out and added rubber fender flare extensions. If I had caught it earlier, I could have altered the inside of the wheels to bring them in a little tighter. I don't recall a problem with the Ertl Int 25XX kit but I'll have to take a look at it.
  8. Looking for a source for photo etched mirrors, typical west coast style for big rigs. Thanks
  9. Bumping this one back up as work has resumed. I've been chair-bound with a nasty cold and watched Convoy, so that renewed my interest in a build that had stalled. Shot some primer this afternoon, need to start looking at all the parts again and figure out a new game plan.
  10. Finally had time to set up the big lights, that was the solution to the color shift problem. New photos below with correct yellows!
  11. I had already run it thru Photoshop, and while it looks better it's still not accurate. If I get the yellow close to correct, the stuff in the background takes on a bad color cast. It may me that the LED lights I'm using have lost their color balance or maybe the camera is tweaked. When I get the chance, I'll try a few different things, I have studio strobes that are just overkill for something like this but they are color correct. I have other cameras, but the one I use for this has the best depth of field.
  12. Thanks, I didn't take any photos of the pump as I was working fast, had it together in a few hours. Basically, I bought a bunch of pump and pump related parts from AITM. Removed the impeller assembly from the cast frame and added something that looks like a gearbox to the back. As the pump is hydraulic-run, I ran hydro lines to it from the pto pump up front and hydro oil tank on the left frame rail. I made a mounting shelf for it and then started adding piping. The inlet goes to the center and valves control whether the tank is the supply or the fill port. On the outlet side, water goes either to the top for filling the tank or to the distribution system. There is a close up in the build thread....
  13. Thanks for the kind words everyone. For whatever reason, I can't get the yellow to show right. It really is yellow, does not have a green tint to it.
  14. Thanks, there is a lot of salt dust on the roads here, between ice storms......
  15. Calling this one done. Chassis from Paystar 5000, Cab from AITM, tanker from Lindberg Dodge kit. Pump, piping and other stuff scratch built. Base paint was glossed but over-sprayed with a blend of base color/white thinned out to simulate sun chalking/fading. Clear flat sprayed on top surfaces, same idea. Light coat of dust/dirt applied to top surfaces. Airbrush spit out a few mud spots in the process. Decals made on my printer.
  16. If you are hauling pigs or chickens, it gets you farther away from the smell!
  17. Glad I searched this out, just tried to update my build thread title and thought I was nuts. Win 10 has been forcing updates all week, thought Mickey Soft was behind it.
  18. Progress on the cab, glass is in and details are being added. I put fender flares on as the tires were sticking out a little past the stock fenders. Cab lights, horn, wipers and mirrors are left. Stack should finish this one. Chassis is done, ended up adding a tank for the hydraulic oil. Then I can start the light weathering I have planned.
