  1. The DK triaxle dump is just about done, need to paint the side boards for the dump body. The red is hard to get right in photos, it's a dark red metallic pearl. I have some changes to make on the dolly as the dump is a tad lower than the dolly. Still need to get started on the dump trailer, once everything is done, I'll move it to Under Glass.
  2. Isn't most of the KFS stuff 1/24? I wonder if Auslowe has it? OP is down under, might be easier to get it in country.
  3. I'm not sure words can accurately describe how awesome this build is.
  4. Take a look at the MPC gravel trailer, seems pretty close. You'll have to cut it down from a triaxle but they actually have instructions to make a 2 axle dolly form the parts included in the kit. Pic of the dolly in this thread:
  5. Those are some beefy tires! It could be the fit would be better after the rims are painted. I tend to use paints with very small pigments so they don't build like the old Testors rattle cans.
  6. Looks good so far. Looking at the photo, I'm surprized the reefer unit doesn't hit the back of the sleeper. Must be really close.
  7. Thanks, I don't need to make up that much room. I'm thinking of double sided adhesive....
  8. Thanks, but the Moluminum tires are solid.
  9. Thanks, this gives me some out of the box ideas!
  10. Made sure of that when I ordered. They aren't sloppy loose, just not quite snug enough to stay where they should when being handled.
  11. I have an old tube of Walthers Goo, sounds similar. I also have automotive windshield gasket cement but it make a real mess.
  12. I'm using the titled tires and rims for my current build. Mounting the tires, they seem like they should have something to stick them to the rims. Most kit tires fit more snug and I don't usually glue them. It would seem that a flexible glue of some sort would be better than a rigid glue. Any suggestions?
  13. This is a shot of a mock-up. I'm trying to get the tag axle set, I'm going for it in the up position. Got the rims and hubs set, need to do the fronts. Cab got first coat of clear, when it sets I'll do the decals. Interior needs paint, engine needs finishing and paint, still a ways to go. Have to get the hubs, rims and tires together for the dolly,, paint some parts. I'm not going to finish-locate the 5th wheel plate until I have the trailer done to make sure the location is correct. Rear tires and rims are from Moluminum, tag axle wheels and tires from the Lindberg tanker.
  14. Ok, hadn't thought of that. Maybe a future build.......
  15. Your skill and level of detail make me want to pack it in........anyone want to buy a stash?
  16. Good project, that cab csating looks very nice!
  17. Thanks, I'm not following...Just skinned the inside of the tailgate, never saw one that had recesses in a waffle pattern.
  18. Thanks, the photo doesn't do the red justice. It's a custom blend based on Aztek Red Pearl Metallic. The chassis will be body color, red.
  19. Been making decent progress while trying to recover from a strep throat. I fit the cab and found it doesn't need any more than a few minor tweaks to get it where it should be. I'm able to use the A64B kit glass and interior and the cab and fender mounts seem pretty close in their stock location. I recycled the fuel tank from the Pete wrecker as well as the battery box. Both fit the chassis well, the kit parts won't work with the tag axle. I got the tag axle from George Wallace, I need to finish the main wheels and rims and get the tires mounted to determine the final tag axle height. I decided to use the trailer wheels I had leftover from the Lindberg Dodge/tanker kit. Used the tank body on the Brockway water wagon project. Dump body is painted, cab has it's first color coat (will see how it dries, might be the final color coat as well!) There was a local contractor a bunch of years ago that ran a fleet of Pete dumps with green cabs and gold dump bodies, so yes, the gold dump body has been done. I think there will be just enough room behind the cab for the hydraulic oil tank for the hoist. Still a long way to go and I haven't even started the dump trailer yet..... BTW, you can see the inside of the tailgate, got skinned.
  20. Thanks, I like the look of the rounded bottom for the dump body. Looks different than the squared off bodies in other kits. There are cut lines molded in and the instructions kinda tell you how to do it. I'd suggest you make the cut to the generous side and then sand the parts to fit. I use a belt/disk bench sander then finish with sandpaper glued to a sheet of thick glass. I used metal paper binder clamps to hold the inner and outer bodies together while the glue set.
  21. With the unused parts from the gravel trailer kit, you can make a 2 axle dolly. Pretty much ready for paint, but I may have to make the pintle loop as the kit doesn't seem to have one. I checked the other kit and can't find one in there either. As I started cleaning up the AITM DK conversion kit, I've found the interior to be identical to the A64B kit so I'll be using that interior.
