  1. The dump body is almost done, just waiting on the sander to finish the tailgate latches. Started the sander body, need to add some details and paint.
  2. Trying to match paint to a photo is difficult. Many variables including the light source and monitor calibration. Back in the day, we used paint chips and even they didn't give a perfect result.
  3. Made some progress on the dump body. Got the cab shield on, still need to finish the seams and prime. Plow needs details, have chains on order.
  4. Thanks, I suspect something else but as I can't ID a specific source, I figured I'd try to eliminate as many other variables as possible.
  5. Just wondering if anyone has had an allergic reaction to dust from sanding/grinding resin models? Got a whopping case of contact dermatitis and I'm trying to ID the cause. I suspect it is something else but trying to cover all my bases.
  6. Thanks. I really didn't waant to go through the fuss to narrow it for a little 0.10" per side but it just didn't look right the way it was. Odd how just a little off the sides can improve the look by so much. I have to get the cab shield back on, them it's off to primer where I'll see what else needs fixing. Meanwhile, I got the plow together last night, pics to come once I finish the detail work.
  7. The plow is from AITM, which closely resembles the ERTL Ford one. I added some beef and the plow lights.
  8. I made some progress on the dump body. Had to remove the tailgate to allow for the sander. Then I discovered the AITM dump body is too wide for this build so I had to narrow it. The cab shield has to be raised to clear the roof. Working on the details and smoothing seems. Had to make 2 cuts to narrow, one each side. Went ok all considered.
  9. Added the plow frame and bumpers. Have to re-do the drivers side, has a twist. Funny what the camera shows....
  10. Way cool and very well done. I'd suggest a 50's Studebaker pickup (or maybe International) for a tow rig.
  11. A couple of progress shots. The cab is almost complete, the bumper will be fit when I do the plow frame.
  12. Thanks. I worked for a local town in the 80's and we had a dozen of these things. They always had an off-color orange that seemed to fade after just a year, yet seemed to keep it's shine. I've decided that I'm going to have to sacrifice the tail gate on the dump body to be able to install a sander. I was hoping I could make a few neat cuts and remove it intact but it doesn't seem likely that I can get it off in one piece. I'm seeing it with the sander and plow anyway and if I really want a tailgate in the future, I guess I could build one.
  13. I have a plow for it and am trying to convince myself that I should take the extra effort to modify the dump body to accept a sander, which would have to be built from scratch.
