  1. Well, the first 24 hrs went well, the only issue I had was a gap at the rear of the engine hood. I should have held it in position when I attached the radiator/rear piece as I suspect it is just slighty tilted. A small shim might have been helpful but I was long past that point when I saw the gap. A filled it with a piece of styrene sheet and lots of sanding/grinding later, gap is more or less closed. When doing the interior, I would suggest you attach the pedals to the floor before attaching the dash assembly and seat; they will made it hard to get the pedals worked in.
  2. The engine compartment on mine is hollow, instructions say you can cut the doors off and put a Cummins from any of the Italeri kits in. Some of the driveline gear would still need to be scratched so lots of work. The instructions reference the hydraulic lines at the pivot point but fail to show any connections/routing.
  3. After a 4 month break, during which I didn't touch a model, I'm back at the bench. I picked up this loader kit from KFS a couple of years ago, I recall it was his last one. I'm very impressed with the quality of the castings and so far, almost everything fits very well. I'm wading thru the assembly instructions trying to identify sub-assemblies for painting as I like to paint as much as possible after assembly. There's a lot of resin here and the solid rubber tires account for about 1/2 the weight. This thing will be a beast when it's all together.
  4. I found this on ebay a year or two ago, I've never seen anything like it before or since. Unlike the former Keystone offerings, this is more or less complete (Keystone just had the tank and in a later offering I seem to recall they included a frame). The wheels/tires that came with it seem small, and as they are only 2 hole, I replaced the wheels with a set of Jamie's 5 hole trailer wheels. The resin casting is quite good and required much less work than the Keystone 3D print. I shortened the hose holders along the sides and added electrical wiring as seen in the movie. A couple more details were added to the back and the middle set of running lights needed to be relocated. The tank ribs were too heavy so they were removed and replaced with some 0.015 stock. I'm waiting for the paint to set up, Pollyscale silver seems to need more time to cure than their other colors. Decals and detail painting and it should be done.
  5. I'm always amazed by your work, this is no exception!
  6. Looks great, lots of nice details.
  7. I have almost a dozen of his prints. In general, quality is good. 3D prints often have visible scan lines that are troublesome to smooth out. Details are attached, I'd prefer them to be seperate but that's me. Thickness of the body is a bit more than the resin castings but not by much. I started the Freightliner Powerliner a few months ago but haven't done any model work since.
  8. Looks good, I like your choice of colors.
  9. As of July 2, 2024, Shapeways is closed. Appears they went bankrupt.
  10. Interesting subject and well executed!
  11. If you want a small gas engine, there was a 1/25 scale kit years ago (think it was a pick-up) that came with a small tractor, like the type you'd garden or mow with. IIRC, it had a decently detailed engine, single cylinder, that sounds like it would work. Might be real hard to find, or you could try looking for a 3D print. It's an old thread......
  12. I was looking at the Road Commander to convert to a Western Star Eagle but as you say, the windshield height is different and combined with all the other things, it isn't worth trying to convert. That casting looks great! As I like the different/non-mainstream stuff, this is right up my alley.
  13. Looks good, just one little nit, the plow should be angled the other way.
  14. Great job, that push truck is over the top!
  15. Looks good. I took the flat bed off the Ford COE stake truck kit for my Reo, put a searchlight on the bed.
  16. Looks good. I always was wary of the short wheel base single axle COE's, they look like they would flip over forward in a hard stop when bobtailing.
  17. Looks good. I like the larger tires, trucks just don't look right with small tires.
  18. Looks like you are off to a good start.
  19. Thanks, it's a runner but old style, no DCC.
  20. Thank you! I still don't understand why they chose black for the handrails by the steps, an area where high visibility is desirable.
