My Firefox Crashes on Forum..

Yep. exactly right. You CAN get Chrome installed in Linux, but WHY? Chromium is almost the exact same thing, is open source, is free, and has NO spyware. OK, let me think,,,,, YEAH, I'll choose Chromium! LOL! -
Selling on the Forum - Poll
smhardesty replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You're assuming everybody does Facebook. I don't, and won't use it,,,,,EVER. I value my privacy and the security of my computers much more than learning who had what for supper. Facebook, in my opinion, is a social DISEASE, not social website. I, for one, will NEVER purchase a product off a Facebook page. If it ever comes to the point that is the only revenue for me to buy a product, ANY product, I'll do without. Didn't really mean to go on that rant, but Facebook, Tweeter, and all the other social disease applications and websites are real sore spots for me. I see idiots posting photos from the dentist' office, the doctor's office, and even the emergency room and I think,,, SERIOUSLY? As for selling on this forum, I don't see why not. If Gregg and you other long timers think that a fee of some sorts be charged I see that as a reasonable request to vendors. I also don't see any problem with charging anyone that wants to enter the "selling zone" a small fee for a password. I can choose whether or not I wish to pay the fee to see what's being offered for sale. Works for me. -
Oh, my, my! Fantastic job. You've made my day. I had a '67 back in the day. It was copper colored. Came to me with a 289 and 3 speed. I also had Cragars on mine. Swapped a 4 speed in for the 3 speed, found a set of heads all ready for performance, added a mild cam and a 4bbl carb & intake instead of the 2bbl, and pulled the single exhaust for a dual exhaust setup with a set of Thrush mufflers. I really like the color combo you chose. Looks great.

X2. And if you're unsure about it, do a search for "is chrome spyware". That'll turn up a few thousand hits. And please don't get your answer to the question from the Google forum. I'd say it would be a toss up as to whether Chrome's spyware or Internet Exploder's bugginess is the bigger problem. If you insist on using a "Chrome like" browser, do yourself a favor and uninstall Chrome and install Chromium. Unknown to most people is the fact that the code Google used to create Chrome came from the good folks at the KDE project and was open source. Once open source means always open source so Chromium benefits from updates, but doesn't include all the various spyware Google packs into Chrome. Other than a little difference in appearance Chromium is Chrome, just faster and more secure. -
Picked up another couple of Dodge 330 kits. Got these off ebay delivered to the door for about 14 bucks apiece.

My Firefox Crashes on Forum..

Haven't been there in 6 - 8 weeks. Like several others I got tired of the lack of involvement by the new management. Too much bickering amongst members without involvement of a moderator. I decided I like it here and one other place better. -

That's one of the things about Firefox that drove me nuts. Version 56? Seriously? It seemed to me there was at least a minor revision every week. My SeaMonkey is version 2.48,,,, yeah, TWO point xx. SeaMonkey version 1.00 was released January 30th, 2006. SeaMonkey has THOUSANDS fewer lines of code than Firefox. Not sure what all those extra lines of code actually do for Firefox. I know SeaMonkey does everything Firefox does and does it quicker. I have Sea Fox extension installed which makes SeaMonkey look and act like Firefox 3.x and also have Classic Firefox theme for SeaMonkey installed which makes SeaMonkey look even more like the old Firefox. Firefox 3.x was a fantastic piece of software and was a really fast and stable browser. Then things started rolling downhill and picking up speed and we ended up with version 56 really quick. Firefox was formerly known as Phoenix, then Firebird, and finally Firefox. The first version of Firefox was released February 9th, 2004. -

I ditched Firefox for SeaMonkey and couldn't be happier. Of course I ditched Windows for Linux over 15 years ago so I don't have problems with a system that locks up or crashes anyway. -
I think it looks just fine. If it was too awfully bold it would look fake. The more I see silver Sharpie and Molotow chrome the more I like it. I prefer that look to BMF.

Very nice looking build, Jim. The interior and engine compartment are super.
-
Well done! A slightly different variation from the norm. I like it!
-
Super job, Jeff. It's a really neat, clean, well done build.

Picked this up on eBay. Another "Best Offer" deal. It'll be delivered to the front door for 12 bucks. Couldn't resist it. I'm developing a small army of early 60s Dodges & Plymouths.

Just picked these up on evilbay. Got them for a really good price. I'm planning on building several of these, but none as the actual Color Me Gone or Maverick cars.

Thanks for the info. I've got way more than even 5 years of building in my stash. I guess I can be patient.

Building Lindburgs Color Me Gone as the Hemi Honker done
smhardesty replied to Johnt671's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Really like what you did to the stance. I've got 3 Color Me Gone kits and 3 other '64 Dodge 330 kits in my stash. My plans are to build them all as either gassers or street muscle. I'll be following along with this build to pick up some pointers. Looking real good so far. -
I sent you a PM, Keith.
-
Hay, David. I like the green Twister. The wheels & tires look good on the red one. Are you gonna do anything to the stance? Looking forward to more photos. A guy I knew back in the day bought one at an estate sale. It really was a little old lady's car with under 10,000 miles on it. I kinda like the Mavericks and Comets. I'll be watching to see how yours turns out.

That got my attention! Not asking for you to divulge anything real secret, but about how long down the road are we talking? Are we looking at a year, or 5 years?

Latest Kindig It Designs episode
smhardesty replied to smhardesty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm usually the same way, Dan. Of all the car shows on the tube, I probably watch Garage Squad more than any other, and that's due to the fact that a lot of their rescues end up being, or at least looking like, 60s and 70s muscle cars. I'm pretty old school that way. I usually don't get into pro street, insane engines, slammed to the grounders, or monster sized wheels with rubber band tires. I do look at all the builds on the forum just because I can appreciate a good build no matter what style it represents. The guys on another forum are slowly indoctrinating me to tubbed pro street cars. And I am slightly impressed with a few of them. When you see the whole show with this Nova you'll understand why I was impressed. If nothing else, the unbelievable plumbing and customizing they did both under hood and throughout the car is nothing less than ridiculously impressive. Long before any actual work was done, the guys had to do some really creative imagining to even come up with the ideas they incorporated. The owner's idea was to project a sleeper and I'd say they did that very well. I'd hate to be the cocky kid with a pro street rod that made the mistake of challenging this thing at a stop light, or even worse, one of us old farts with our 400 horse muscle car! If I recall correctly, the turbos are 98 mm turbos. Just the 2 turbos were in the $10,000 range or up. There is absolutely NO WAY this car came in under 100 grand. If somebody was to make a gift of that car to me I'd instantly switch from a MOPAR guy to a Bowtie guy. -
How do You Say 1:1?
smhardesty replied to #1 model citizen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And to expound, 1/4=2/8 when read as ratios would be, "one is to four as two is to eight". -
I watched the latest Kindig It Designs episode last night. If you missed it, this was an absolute killer build. They had a specially designed and built BBC with 638 cubes and twin turbos that produced 2000 horses. The car's owner wanted the most horsepower possible with it all under the stock hood. The engine is actually capable of 4000 horses with a change in fuel and some tweaking and tuning, but decided 2000 was more than enough to run on the street. Then they painted EVERYTHING red except for what was highly polished chrome or rubber. If you missed it, try and catch one of the reruns.

What you have is a model of a walking tractor, also know as walk-behind tractor or 2 wheeled tractor. They were fairly popular in parts of the US in the early 20th century. They have always been popular in parts of Asia. You will still find them in the US being used by guys who have large truck patches and by "homesteaders" that are attempting to go off the grid. I've used one to plow and disc a large garden and the things are really useful, especially in a garden too small to get a regular 4 wheeled tractor in, but too big to try and maintain using manual labor. Some of them have a lot of different attachments. BCS offers a plow, power disc, hay baler, snow blower (with tracks for the tractor), and a wheel barrow attachment. These things put the average, run of the mill, garden tillers to shame.
