  1. Couldn't the buyer specify and pay an upgrade for bucket seats in a standard Fury? '63 and '64 would still be during the period of time that Chrysler was building all the special "race only" Super Stock cars. They were pretty lenient with "special order" requests on vehicles sold to the general public because of their involvement with both NASCAR and drag racing. I'm not saying the seats could definitely be ordered for a standard Fury. I'm just wondering if it was possible.
  2. I've finally given up on car modeling magazines and ordered 2 more regular car mags - Car Craft and Hot Rod. MCM having trouble getting issues out and the changing of the guard at the other car model mag have kind of dampened my spirits towards them. The "other" mag seems to be slowly diverting it's attention to diecast and foreign & exotic plastic kit building. While there is nothing wrong with collecting diecast, I don't see how it really fits into a 'modeling' magazine suitable for all readers. The same holds true for exotics and foreign plastic kits. I enjoy seeing the completed builds from all the guys that build them, it's just not for me and I don't think it's yet a majority of what guys build. There are still way too many if us old dogs that build and enjoy good, old street rods, factory stocks, hot rods, and muscle cars. Don't musunderstand and go into attack mode. I'm not insisting that every article, and every build showcased, should be a U.S. factory stock, rod, or muscle car. A magazine SHOULD be able to present articles and photos of ALL the various model car genres and each should take center stage at various times. OK. Enough of that. Just venting. You mods can nix this post if it ignites a chit storm.
  3. No kits left in Evansville, IN. However, I bought several cans of spray paint. The paint rack was a real mess so I asked a kid which of the paints were on clearance sale. He looked me dead in the eye and said, "All of them". I grabbed a BUNCH of cans of spray paint and headed to the check out. The gal asked me about the difference in the prices. Some were still marked the regular $6.99 and some were marked down to $1.54 and still others were marked down to $1.24. So she called the kid that worked back there that I talked to and he told her they were all $1.24. Yeah, buddy! I walked out of there grinning like the cat that ate the canary! I got over 20 cans at $1.24 each.
  4. Really nice looking 'Cuda. Love that color.
  5. Yep. I can definitely understand that. I still haven't started refinishing the kitchen cabinets and now won't be able to for at least 8 more weeks. That's how long my doc says it'll be before I can begin to walk normally again. And the bad news is I'm not supposed to be standing or sitting up for extended periods for the first 2 weeks.
  6. I've been a Verizon customer for around 5 years, I think. However long it's been, I've been pleased with them. There are local offices in pretty much every decent sized town around us. I've never been really upset with any of their service reps.
  7. Finally ordered a couple of car magazines. I thought I might be able to pick up some ideas for my builds by looking at and reading about real, 1:1 cars. I ordered Hot Rod and Car Craft. Both are monthly issue mags and it only cost me $22 for both of them.
  8. I'm right there with you. I not only huff and puff, this stupid heart problem causes me to pass out. My wife is all over me to stop doing a bunch of stuff, but I'm having a hard time sitting in the house while somebody I hired is outside doing the work.
  9. That's a great looking Corvette. I'm not a big 'Vette fan, but a '63 is one of the finest ever built. I really like the red color. Makes that thing look really fine.
  10. This afternoon I got a young fella lined up to mow my yard while I'm laid up from my upcoming surgery. He's a grandson of an old classmate of my wife. His dad brought him to the house since he's only 15 and can't drive yet. Spent about 45 minutes just chatting with the two of them. The boy seems very conscientious and hard working. He mows several yards in town. His dad treated him with respect and even let the boy decide how much to charge me. His price was 5 dollars more than I had figured it would cost, but after meeting the two of them I had no problem accepting his price. I'll gladly pay a little more to a kid willing to work hard. I also appreciated the fact that his dad had that much interest in him. That's one thing I won't have bothering me while I'm laid up for 8 weeks.
  11. X2. I had forgotten you had this build going, Steve. What's the latest on this one?
  12. Both are great movies! Turns out that neither Netflix or HuLu have Vanishing Point on the freebie offerings right now. I might just go ahead and do the pay per option. Believe it or not, the town I live in still has one decent sized video rental store. I might stop in there and see if they have it, and since you mentioned it, I might rent it AND Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry. That would make a great night's entertainment. Thanks for reminding me about that one!
  13. I'm not sure exactly where that movie fits on my list of most favorites, but it's a darned good movie. I haven't seen it in a while come to think of it. I might just have to search through Netflix and HuLu to see if it's available. I believe I could enjoy watching it tonight!
  14. I wish I was turning 50.
  15. Just picked this up on eBay. It wasn't really the kit I was after, but I made a low offer and we got together for just over 20 bucks delivered to the door. I can live with that.
  16. A wise choice. I can't help but laugh every time I see your handle. A long time ago, when I was a young kid, the little, local radio station where I lived hired a new, young broadcaster to do the early morning show. On this particular Monday he was on as I got ready for school and ate breakfast. My folks always had the radio on in the AM to get local events, weather, and possible school closings. One of the things this broadcaster was responsible for doing was the local farm markets. It was his first day on the job doing this. He read and announced the market hogs, steers, slaughter lambs, then proudly announced the Slaughter EEE WEEEs price. I thought my dad and I were both going to fall off our chairs. I told all my school buddies, most of whom were farmers, about it and all day at school you could hear guys yelling, "EEE WEEE".
  17. Yeah, and I was wrong. It won't be an hour of hype and commercials. I saw in the TV guide it's 3 full hours of hype and commercials and 1 minute for the actual event. Just unreal.
  18. I just picked up this Boss 302 kit on eBay. It's a factory sealed kit and I got a really good price on it. I already have a Boss 429 kit, so wanted the 302 to compliment it. I actually have 2 of the Boss 429 kits and I'll be offering one for trade in the near future.
  19. No pictures, but tonight we had one of my favorite summer meals. It was BLT sandwiches using locally grown lettuce and tomato, and then a couple of ears of Peaches & Cream sweet corn - also locally grown. In the past this would all have been my own, home grown produce, but with the move into town a couple years ago I have to settle for produce grown by other local gardeners. I think I've decided I kind of like not having to plant, weed, till, spray, dust, and pick.
  20. Nugent definitely qualifies as a heavy metal artist. Actually, if you'll research it, you'll find he actually qualifies as early Acid Rock, Hard Rock, and Heavy Metal. I've listened to Hard Rock, Acid Rock, Heavy Metal, Psychedelic Rock, etc since it's inception. I've got an extensive collection of the various Rock & Metal bands. Trust me, Nugent is Heavy Metal at it's finest.
  21. Yeah, it was. It can still be hard to find .22 ammo, or at least good, name brand .22 ammo. Most everything else is relatively easy to find.
  22. Aaarrrrggggghhhhhhh! I just took a phone call from my doctor's nurse. They scheduled some surgery for me on the 17th of July. I have tickets to see Ted Nugent on the 26th, and they are really good seats. The surgery I'm having will have me on my back for a minimum of 2 weeks with full recovery time slated for about 8 weeks. No way I'll be able to go to the concert. And of course this is surgery to be performed by the VA at a VA facility. I didn't DARE ask for a different date. You other vets know what I mean about that. If they get you scheduled, don't mess with it. Just be there on time. I was really looking forward to this concert for a couple of reasons. First, I really like Nugent. Secondly, my wife has attended exactly ONE concert in her life. She went to see The Carpenters in the early 70s. I was REALLY looking forward to seeing her reaction to full blown, heavy metal, live and up close. So much for that!
  23. Really good to hear that. Simplicity and I get along very well. You got THAT right. It seems the majority of shipping prices posted on eBay are now $10 to $15. I see a LOT of $12 shipping costs posted and I know darned well it doesn't cost that much to ship. I get a real burr under my saddle when I've paid high shipping costs and then when the kit gets here see $6.85 actual cost. I'm not out to rob anybody or make it hard for them to turn a profit, but I don't like being ripped off either.
  24. My wife and I took a short drive today looking for produce at farmers' markets and road side stands. We found several places, but found everything we wanted at one place in Grayville, IL. We brought home new potatoes, green beans, tomatoes, some GREAT sweet corn, a watermelon, and 2 muskmelons. Everything was local except the watermelon was a Georgia melon and the muskmelons were Posey County, IN melons. We'll be high on the hog for the next few days, for sure! I can barely wait for the muskmelon to chill down. Then we took a quick stop at the local gun shop and I ordered some boxes of .380 ammo. I've been looking for Hornady XTP rounds, but nobody around here carries them. The local shop offered to order them, gave a price, and I said, "Do it." Got a decent enough price to order multiple boxes. So all in all, a great day was had! .
  25. Finally spotted a '63 'Vette kit on eBay at a great price - $17 delivered to the door. This is the first kit I've seen on eBay for a while that I was interested in for under 25 bucks delivered. Figured I'd best take a shot at it.
