Nope, but thanks. I got my fill of that many moons ago.

Never had a problem with any Armory Sgt. I grew up with guns. Had my own .22 about age 6 and a 410 at age 7. Learned to clean them the right way. I just hated going into the pit to wash all the mud from under vehicles I was responsible for. I never really believed the "Virgin Mary" was going to eat off any of those parts under there. (Thanks for reminding me, George)

Depending on where they are racing, speeds can be anywhere from 130 mph to over 200 mph. Several years ago Miss Budweiser set a record lap speed of around 175 mph. I don't know if that's still any type of record or if it's been surpassed.

By God, the United States Army. That's who. And I've had to clean the same Jeep 3 times before it was clean enough for the Motor Pool Sgt.

4th model? I see several good things with this build with the primary thing being that it is a very neat and clean build with no sloppiness apparent anywhere. And you are correct. The grill looks pretty darned good. Keep on building.

IS IT JUST ME!

If you'll notice carefully on eBay, you'll see that prices for kits by AMT, MPC, and other makes have also gone up in pricing. There really isn't a reason for price increases on them. Some sellers took the opportunity to increase all kits as a result of the unknown on Revell kits. I'm just about as ticked at the $12 to $15 shipping charges that are becoming "the norm". I recently sent 3 kits to people. The cost to ship was $7.95 for one of them and $8 and change for each of the other two. So I KNOW it doesn't cost $12.95 to ship a kit. I do realize there is a "possible" added expense of the shipping materials, but I keep about 10 empty kit sized boxes from purchases I have made on hand at all times. You can obtain free boxes from the USPS so I don't see where there should be a significant expense for those materials. With the increase in asking prices for kits and the ridiculous shipping charges, it's getting REALLY hard to find a "deal" on eBay. I still spend a little time several days a week looking for "bargains", but those are getting to be few and far between. -
I know that is the correct answer and that Gregg IS the only person with an answer to this question. Two and a half years ago I sent questions to him via email and received fairly prompt replies. I sent two emails to him 5 or 6 months ago and never received a reply. I'm not going to hazard a guess as to the exact path MCM magazine is on, but being unable to fund the publishing of a mag using existing subscription and advertising income doesn't bode well for the future of that mag. It's a direct result of the Internet and I, for one, hate to see it. I spent 30 plus years looking at computer screens for a living. I really don't, and usually won't, read online magazines. I much prefer a printed version where I can settle into my recliner and relax an evening away. The other printed magazine appears to now be headed in a direction not compatible with my interests so I no longer subscribe to it. What I chose to do instead of subscribing to modeling magazines is to subscribe to a few of the 1:1 car mags that cover and feature 1:1 cars I can glean ideas from. Then for help and tips on modeling I turn to the forums and a small group of old and seasoned builders I communicate with via email. It just made more sense to do that than to spend money on a magazine that doesn't publish on a regular schedule, and another one that now features cars that are of little to no interest to me. That's just my 2 cents worth. Not intended to upset or irritate anyone. Take it for what it's worth to yourself. No harm meant.

Very nicely done. Super neat and clean build. Color is different and looks fantastic on this car. What color paint is that? It really fits the car, for sure. Also, you said the bumpers were "re-chromed" with Molotow Liquid Chrome. Did you use one of the pens for that, and if so what size pen did you use? If not, how did you apply it? The bumpers look great.

The M972 Flatbed/w Excavator

Charles, this is the third of your works I've viewed now. I'm just as blown away by this one as I was by the other two. You really are an artist. Very realistic and superb detailing and weathering. Fantastic! -
I just ran across your trailer with the rolled steel. Thought I'd check out some more of your work. Charles, you are an artist when it comes to heavily detailed and weathered trucks and trailers. Extremely realistic.

Trailer with loaded steel coil
smhardesty replied to tiking's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
WOW! I don't normally browse through the truck sections, but have some extra time today and thought I'd see what was up on this board. Glad I did. That is one remarkably well detailed and weathered trailer. I am just totally blown away by your level of craftsmanship. That is an unbelievable level of realism. 2 thumbs up for absolute certain on this. Very nice! -
I got it now. Seems my hardware firewall didn't like the site's images. Had to make an exception. I'll spend some time browsing tomorrow. Thanks.

I've been a member on this forum for just about a year and a half. I've never received any of the error codes on here. There was a short period of time one morning about a year ago where I couldn't login. I waited a few hours and logged right in. I'm guessing it's because I use Linux and SeaMonkey browser. I avoid a lot of the common errors associated with Windows and Windows based browsers.

How do you find product on The Sales Shack site? I go there and there is nothing listed under their "Products" when I click on "Shop". I can't find anything at all.

As did mine. We had an AMC dealer in my little home town. Started out as a Studebaker dealer, then added Rambler, eventually becoming a full fledged AMC dealer. My folks drove nothing but Ramblers and AMCs for a long while. I owned a Pacer for a while. The look of the thing intrigued me. The smoothness of the ride on the test drive sold me. The thing had a ton of interior space. My buddies called it my "pumpkin". Yeah, kind of looked like one. I would have been a whole lot prouder if I had owned a wagon that looked like your build, Garry. Each time I look at it I get closer to pulling the trigger on buying one. Really nice job! Adding the panels changes the whole look of the car.

Not sure why you are "not real happy with it", but it looks pretty good to me. I'd be proud enough to have it on a shelf in my man cave.

The NHRA is not a fan of Street Outlaws.
smhardesty replied to NYLIBUD's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Right, Jim. To be in line with NHRA rules, any scale build of a known Street Outlaw might realistically need to be in a separate category. Drag racing is drag racing, but there is going to be a distinction in the future. -
We bought a Hoover carpet shampooer somewhere around 10 or 12 years ago. It's one of the models that is specifically for pet owners and has a couple of special attachments for pet hair related problems. It gets used fairly often, including shampooing 100% of every room in this house we just moved into and 100% of every room in the house we left. I've got nothing but good things to say about it. We will more than likely be considering buying a new unit in the not too distant future. It will definitely be another Hoover.

Completed a trade with 'alanjones' and things couldn't have gone better. The kit I received was exactly as he described. He got it shipped out to me extremely quickly. Correspondence was great as well. I can highly recommend him as a great trader.

The NHRA is not a fan of Street Outlaws.
smhardesty replied to NYLIBUD's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
That has been going on for a while now. It was at least last year when the NHRA announced they wouldn't issue or renew licenses of drivers that competed in any of the street racing affairs. I can understand exactly where they're coming from. The whole idea of the NHRA is to provide an organized, legal form of competition to keep racing off the streets. They just almost had no choice EXCEPT taking the action they did. Now, that's not to say that I didn't do my share of street racing back in the day. Nor am I condemming anyone that finds a good opportunity to "line 'em up". Just saying I can understand the NHRA's position. And yes, it is going to be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Like them or not, Street Outlaws have a following. -
Nice looking build. Beautifully neat & clean. Very nice!
